MONDAY MENTION
Samantha Bingham, Class of 2002 Samantha Bingham attended Southeastern University from 1998 to 2002, graduating with a degree in Middle Grades Mathematics and a minor in Children's Ministry. This August marked Samantha's 18th year of teaching. She currently teaches 7th grade math at Smiths Station Junior High School, and she is on her 9th year as a teacher for Smiths Station. Samantha and her husband Andy were married three years ago. They recently bought their first home together. The Binghams attend North Highland Assemblies of God in Columbus, Georgia. Together they teach the 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School class, and they also co-lead a 30s and 40s connect group. When reflecting on her time at Southeastern, Samantha says that her classes prepared her for teaching by giving her the opportunity to learn from her professors.

She also was able to get hands on experience that she would need to advance her career. "I truly felt like I was prepared to enter the classroom when I left Southeastern. Also, because of all my Bible classes, I felt I was able to serve at any church that God led me to." Some of Samantha's favorite memories from Southeastern include being a Big Sister in Bethany Hall during her sophomore year. She enjoyed being able to serve the freshman and be there for them as they learned the ropes of college life. She also enjoyed singing with the worship choir all 4 years she was at Southeastern. "One of my greatest memories is working for the VP of Development during my Senior year, working closely with the Alumni Office, and with our President at the time, Dr. Rutland." Overall, Samantha is an excellent example of how alumni of Southeastern can Carry the Torch!
