MONDAY MENTION

Stephen Law, Class of 2010 Stephen Law attended Southeastern University from 2007 to 2010, graduating with a degree in Church Ministry and a minor in Youth Ministry. After graduation, Stephen was hired as the web and graphic designer at Harborside Christian Church in Safety Harbor, Florida. After a year in the position, Stephen was offered the job of youth pastor when the current youth pastor left to pursue a church planting initiative. Stephen was excited to accept the position and has been the youth pastor for the past nine years.

Stephen has some fond memories of his time at Southeastern, but his overall favorite is meeting his wife. “Of course, meeting my wife takes the #1 favorite memory, but there are countless others! Late nights outside of Mi Casa Cafe trying to cram for exams or playing games with friends always stands out. I loved playing violin in the orchestra, and the things I learned from Dr. Hackett, Dr. Davis, and Dr. Waddell will forever stick with me. But some of my most cherished memories comes from the friends I made at SEU. Many of those friends have become like family to me now.”

Stephen met his wife, Rachel Law, during his sophomore year on campus in Tuscana Ristorante. After graduating, they got married in August 2010. Stephen and Rachel were excited to grow a family, but even after more than seven years of trying, nothing changed. Long story short, through an absolutely God ordained series of events, Stephen and Rachel were able to get pregnant. On October 7th the Laws welcomed a little boy into the world!

Outside of Stephen’s full-time ministry profession, he is an influencer on many levels. This year, his book Don’t Be Better, Be Best was published and quickly became an Amazon #1 Best Seller. Stephen is also a certified speaker, trainer, and coach for the John Maxwell Team where he uses his position to lead students through biblical leadership principles by coaching and speaking at schools and in the community. Additionally, each summer he incorporates ministry into his “Ninja Warriors Parkour Camp” for the city of Safety Harbor. At the camp, he teaches kids how to do parkour, and then relates it back to biblical teachings.

When asked about how Southeastern helped prepare him for what he does now, Stephen recalls that he studied ministry because he knew that God had called him to lead students. That’s been his passion for the past ten years, and even outside of ministry, Stephen’s goal is to impact our future world through the lives of students. “My experience at SEU absolutely helped prepare me for my career now.”

Through pastoring, writing, teaching, and coaching, Stephen exemplifies a life that reflects the heart, hands, and feet of Jesus. Thank you, Stephen, for rising up to the call to Carry the Torch as an SEU alum!
