Editor’s Letter A funny thing happened last month here in Florence, Italy where I’ve been shacked up for the past year. Elizabeth, our long-time blogger and Olivia, our fan-favorite Food & Travel editor both informed me that they would be passing through town on the same day! Here, thousands of miles from the South, the three of us were meeting up for coffee, gelato and conversation. One of the most amazing things about putting together Southern Flourish’s eight issues over the past two years has been all of the amazing people that I’ve had the opportunity to meet, often in the most unexpected places — and, sometimes, not even in person. The web has created a true community of people willing to share theirs talents, passion and expertise with us. It’s a beautiful thing. This Holiday issue will be the last Southern Flourish issue for a bit. We’re going to take some time off in 2012 to rethink and reassess the magazine. We hope you understand and won’t miss us too much! And, please, send any ideas for reinventing the magazine to southernflourish@gmail.com. It has been such a pleasure sharing the magazine with you and I hope that we are back soon. In the meantime, happy holidays to all of our fabulous, wonderful and devoted readers!

< Sass & Bide Shift Dress I adore this dress. It says holiday celebration and fun without hitting you over the head with glitter and gold. Bally wedge ankly boots > These boots look both practical and fashionable — a hard combo to find.
Malene Birger Mittens > I love the retro charm of these mittens. Plus, they look like the warmest gloves I’ve seen in a very long time!
I was inspired by an
amazing yarn spool roll
display at Bottega Quattro, a chic boutique here in Florence. The colors felt so wintery without being dreary.
