Note From The Editor: Welcome back to my readers ! As many of you know, I took a short leave of absence from my position as The Editor and temporarily closed the magazine as of July 1, 2014. I had many personal issues to deal with and they were very time consuming and ended up being very painful. My life and circumstances have changed dramatically and I realized that I needed to continue what I love to do. I have prayed for awhile over this decision to return, but with many prayers covering me and much encouragement from my family and friends, I decided to follow my heart. I am hoping and praying that I gain your readership and following in the months to come ...we were enjoying a great following of readers.. I had been around with the magazine for almost 4 years and made many wonderful friends, got to interview some incredible people like Yvonne Hinson Johnson of the Original Hinsons, Mary Raybon, Kathy Crabb, the beautiful love story of Larry and Jana Hinson, The Legend, Naomi Sego , Wilburn and Wilburn and the list goes on and on. I feel I was truly blessed beyond measure to do the things that I have, meet the people that I have and hope to continue to do so. I am going to take the magazine into just a little different direction. I will be doing personal editorials each month...some may continue over several issues, about different subjects and concerns that may be more personal to me in nature. I will continue to bring you some of the writers I had before that you so loved. Decorating ideas, music articles and interviews of different genres, such as Country Christian, Southern Gospel, Gospel and even some Bluegrass News. I look forward to hearing from you. And for my advertisers, as always this will be a place to advertise that is reasonable and will fit your budget. I want to help you promote your business, ministry, church, small home business. Southern Gospel Magazine will continue to bring you the best as we strive for excellence! God Bless and Welcome Back!!! Ruthie Gainey, Editor/Owner southerngospelmagazine@yahoo.com

JEFF DAVIDSON
JEFF DAVIDSON, THE ANOINTED SINGER, GIFTED MUSICIAN , SONGWRITER, THE MAN. I had the honor of talking with Jeff Davidson for this article. Over the course of several days we talked about his background, his history in Southern Gospel music and most of all his complete dedication to the ministry of the Lord. We discussed how many artists are entertainers and are not ministry minded. This is where I found that Jeff was very dedicated and had his heart set on full time ministry not only in singing and playing several instruments but to be fully used of God to win lost souls for the Lord. “It is not about how many accolades you can put on your mantel or how many songs you write that are charted. Those are all fine, but what really matters to him the most is that his songs, the Word of God reaches some hurting soul. That’s what it’s all about. “ said Jeff. As I listened to Jeff tell of things that has happened to him in his life, how he has experienced so many miracles, those of healing in his own body to many times things that happened could only have been the Miracles of God! I look forward to sharing his story with you. Ruthie Gainey, Editor Jeff was raised in church. From his earliest memories he attended church with his grandparents, Leland & Juanita Ashton. They attended Gospel Assembly. At the very young age of 2 years old, Jeff could sing with perfect pitch. His Uncle Ed Ashton had a band and would have Jeff singing . Most are learning to talk while Jeff was already singing his heart out. By the time that Jeff was 9 years old, he was playing guitar and singing in church, his first real audience. His first song was “If That Isn’t Love” by Dottie Rambo. As he grew, he began
a playing in the church band . He started playing the trumpet by this time . Later on he was playing the piano and the Hammond B3 for the church choir. When his parents then in later years started their own church, he was the original pianist and organist.
When Jeff was 17years old , he met and married his sweetheart, Deborah Lynn Harrell. He was 18 and Deborah was 19 yrs old. Jeff had the honor of leading her to the Lord and Deborah was born again. They were married for 26 years when the Lord called her home. She was diagnosed with the worst kind of breast cancer . Jeff then had their 5 children to raise. It has been a long and difficult journey for him. . Jeff’s five beautiful children, Leah Marie was the first born, then Jonathon, Benjimen, James and the last was Christian. Jeff is so proud that all his children are born again having been raised in church and still today they are all good Christian people. They grew up listening to their daddy sing, writing his songs and playing. Through the years, Jeff has had the opportunity to sing with several groups with his beautiful tenor voice. He also has actually filled in for a short time with several quartets through the years. Such as Crimson Quartet, Southland Quartet. He has been in the following groups as their tenor such as Blackwood Legacy, Highest Honor Quartet, New Destiny Quartet, Davidson Trio, Mass Choir, Jackson College (Lanny Wolf) and the Bible Truth Tabernacle Choir. Jeff has been privileged to share the stage when singing tenor with various quartets with some of the following groups, or artists, The Lesters, Michael English, Vickie Winan, Tony Gore & Majesty, Danny Funderburke, Mercy Way, The Talleys and The Florida Boys. The list does go on and on. Such a rich history in the Southern Gospel Music. Some of Jeff’s songs have been recorded and charted over the years by such groups as The Calvarymen, Blackwood Legacy, Highest Honor, New Destiny and Praise Inc., Jeff has been so thrilled that some of his self penned songs have made the National charts. Number 2 Position, “Rise Up and Walk By Faith,” In the Top 10 , “Great Change In Me” Praise Inc. has recorded some of his songs and was nominated for Dove Awards.
For the past year or so, Jeff has taken a break from traveling and singing to take time to just look at his life and seek the Lord as to what he wanted him to do in the next years of his life. He has prayed and really sought the Lord. He now feels like the Lord has given him the next chapter of his life. He will continue doing what he knows the Lord has called him to do. Jeff said the desire to sing for the Lord is stronger than ever. His song writing continues and he admits that through the years, there has been a call on his life to actually minister, not only with his songs, playing the piano but to minister the word from the pulpit. He is ready now to step out in faith and excited to see what the Lord is going to do in his life. Many changes have come in his life, many times spent sitting in front of the piano, playing FOR the Lord and asking him where he goes now.? Where was the Lord leading him.? He said, Lord I am willing. If you will open the doors for this burning desire to work and minister for you, I will go through the doors . Jeff knows not only will he be sharing his testimony of healing …”but the “Plan of Salvation” for a lost and dying world. This is what my singing, songwriting and playing is all about! Not to sit on a pew but to go out and be obedient to God’s calling in my life. Who knows, I may end up pastoring in a church, whatever God leads me to do, I am ready, a willing vessel….Send me, Lord, send me.” God healed Jeff in his body. “If I can not share what God has done in my life, in my body, then something is wrong with me. I can not stay silent, the Lord has put a burning desire in my life to tell others of the miracle that has taken place in my life!”
Ruthie: I asked Jeff if he would share some of the details of his testimony of healing in his own body.
“When I was 4 years old, I developed pneumonia in both of my lungs. The right lung cleared up with the treatment. But, the left lung did not. So, I ended up spending a year in Children’s Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and had the lower lobe removed of my left lung. I actually lived in an oxygen tent for most of that year. No one could hold me or touch me without special gloves and through the tent. The church that I was raised in by my Gramm and Grandpa, Gospel Assembly began to fast and pray for me. They raised their hands towards Children’s Hospital as they prayed.”
“During the years following, for all the times I had pneumonia it had scarred my lungs and caused sarcoidosis . I had 4 tumors on left lung and 5 on the right lung. The doctors did a bronchoscopy and took a sample of the tumors. They told Jeff that he needed to surgery in order for them to try and save his life. Otherwise, he probably would only live for 6 months. Instead, of surgery, Jeff opted not have it. Instead, Jeff went with his church family to a Camp meeting in Stone Mountain, Georgia. I was the first that went to the altar that night and the last to leave. God’s beautiful spirit began healing me ! I had the faith to allow GOD to do his surgery the one that heals without a scar! Today at age 54, I’ve lived a lot longer than the doctors said that I would! The Lord always has the final say! Amen! I’m still writing his holy music, playing and singing it! “ “Since the age of 28 yrs old. I have battled cellulitis in both lower tibias and have been in the hospital with it up to 6 times a year. God brought me outta there! I have struggled with lung issues and pneumonia all my life and in and out of hospitals. I AM A MIRACLE! My greatest trials have birthed some great anointed songs. I have written more than 80 tunes and counting. “ “My Dad today is still preaching and has an incredible thriving church today in Rochester Hill, Michigan where I currently attend with my family and children. I have a million testimonies and songs that are birthed from trials and anointed preaching from an anointed church.” “When my Grandpa Ashton passed away and I went alone to his grave site with my Bible and guitar. Lying face down on his grave, GOD spoke to me and allowed me to write “I’m Gonna Be With You Some Day” what a powerful song of promise. I have written all of my songs under the anointing, because I am not one that can just sit down and say, I am going to write a song today. It has to be birth from the Holy Spirit. It is a powerful gift from God.”
One more bit of information about Jeff. He has had the honor of singing for “Aretha Franklin” two different times for her birthday parties! You will love his tenor voice!
From the Editor: Jeff it is hard to wind down this to more miracles in your life, I could not put it all in this one article. God has truly been good to you and your life is a testimony as to the healing power of God. I so enjoyed you singing to me many of the songs that you have written. You have a true gift to be able to write songs the way you do. I would love lo make a recommendation of Jeff Davidson and his ministry. When you talk with him and listen to the excitement in his voice about what God has done in his life, it is highly contagious. I walked away from this interview with a renewed excitement myself about the Lord and his miracle working power. When you have been through all that Jeff has been through and can still laugh, smile, joke and proclaim the love of God...then we can never look at ourselves and what we have been through and dare complain. Never can we doubt the miracles of God and his everlasting love! If you would like to schedule Jeff to come to your church, revival, or hold a revival, a concert, for your Homecoming or any event. Please do not hesitate to call him. Jeff does not consider himself an entertainer but a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! You will be so glad you scheduled him‌....get ready for a blessing to come your way!

To My Angels I ranted at God for some peace in my heart Because despair had gotten me down I no longer could hear the birds in the trees Or see the flowers blooming all around. I blamed God for my unhappiness For the loneliness in my life I looked for His explanation Of how a husband could beat his wife. I pleaded with God for enlightenment To explain away my fears My life was so full of sorrow That my days were filled with tears. I raved at God for some relief For my days were shrouded in pain It seemed that no matter what I did The agony would start again. I prayed to God to help me To somehow give me hope To shine some light at the end of the tunnel For I was at the end of my rope. I thanked God for His generosity For family and friends who care For when I was at my lowest He brought my own special Angels here. Elizabeth Loflin
Ruthie, He beat me so badly that I was a total mess--spiritually, emotionally mentally. I found a wonderful Christian clinical social worker that got me a scholarship to be able to go talk to her 3 days a week. I had a severe case of PTSD..she told me that it was as bad as soldiers returning from war. All I could do was cry...the dr had me on klonipin and a couple different ,antidepressants. She was able to find me a wonderful Psychiatrist, and slowly I got better. I started volunteering at a local church storehouse and finally started feeling human again. God brought me through so much that night....Ladies don't listen when they tell you they will change...'cause most of the time the behavior is so ingrained in them that they think they are right...You need to take what you can and run, don't walk, to your family, your church...or a friend. God loves you and you must love yourself. YOU ARE WORTH IT!!

Domestic Violence and Why It Matters to Me Last month I wrote an article on Domestic Violence and why it mattered. This month I am going to tell you why it matters to me. In 1975 I married a man that I thought I would spend the rest of my life with and moved to North Carolina. For the first two years I had a good marriage. Little did I know that my dream of happily ever after was about to change. It started with the verbal and mental abuse. I stopped counting how many times I was told I was fat and ugly, lazy, useless and worthless. Then came the control issue. I worked he took the paycheck. I wasn't allowed to have friends over for visits. I went to work and had to come straight home. He even decided how I wore my hair and what clothes to wear. I couldn't even call my family who lived three hours away in South Carolina. Then one day he walked in the door and the physical abuse began. I found myself at the hands of a monster. I now had to deal with physical abuse on top of the controlling, verbal and mental abuse. It seemed everyday he walked into the house something was wrong and the beatings began. Once the physical abuse begins the control issue gets stronger. That's the way they keep family and friends from knowing what's happening. My best friend remarked about the bruises and I could no longer see her without him being around. Each day that went by the abuse got worse. It had gotten so bad that I nearly lost my life at the hands of this man on three different occasions. Now I know the question comes,“Why did you
stay.” The answer is easy. I actually believed, I was worthless, useless, fat, ugly and no body else would have me. He was the only man who would ever want me because of that and I should be glad he married me. Another issue was alienation from family and friends. Remember my family was three hours away and knew nothing of the abuse I was suffering at the hands of this man. His family knew but refused to intervene. I later learned that his own sisters were abused at the hands of this man and nothing was done. When anything was said the beatings were worse. The day came when his job took him out of town for the week. So for five days I was safe. But the weekend always came and so did the beatings. He beat me so bad one day that when I looked in the mirror and saw my face I wanted to kill this man. In 1980 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. It seemed this was the turn around. The beatings stopped but the verbal abuse went on. That little piece of heaven didn't last long. One day he walks in and the beatings begin all over again. In 1982 a beautiful baby boy comes along. This time the beatings didn't stop before or after he was born. One day he came to me and said we needed to talk. I never saw what was coming and it literally slapped me in the face. One of the things he always said was I wasn't what he wanted. That day I found out why. This man I had married was living a double life. While he was married to me he was also seeing someone else, a man. That was the day he told me he was gay. That still didn't justify the beatings. Well the physical part stopped, but not the verbal and definitely not the control issues. I finally made up my mind to leave. While he was at work I packed up my two children and came home to South Carolina. Then the phone calls come along with the apologies. “ I'm sorry. I'll never do it again. Just come home and we'll get help.” I had heard those words over and over. “I'm sorry, I'll never do it again. Like most women I believed him. So I went back to him. We did go to a counselor for help. Only problem was all I heard was how I should treat him because he worked hard to take care of our family. If I treated him like he was a man then maybe things would be different. I bowed at this man's every command. Jumped when he said jump. But it was never enough according to
the counselor. So women beware there are men counselors who are on the abusers side and make you feel you are the one causing the problems. You almost hear “Well she asked for it”. So I tried even harder to be the humble wife and make him happy. Everything clicked one day when a friend make the remark “To make a man feel like a man, he first has to make the women feel like a women.” How true I found this out to be later on in my life. I stayed about a year but things didn't get better. The verbal abuse and controlling continued. I made one last attempt to leave and leave I did. This time there was no going back. But the controlling didn't stop. The day I walked out the house with my belongings his last words were “I will get even with you even if it means taking your kids away from you. Another means of control. As long as you have children in common there is still that attempt at control. We went to court and no child support was ordered. So now I'm on my own with two children and no way to support them. Thank God for family. I was able to live with my mom and grandmother. I got a job and things seem to be looking up. I felt I finally had my life back. Then came the day I was laid off from my job. Then the controlling came into play. He was true to his word. He went to the judge and told him I was homeless with no job and couldn't take care of my children. The same judge who sent me away with nothing took my children away from me. He was controlling to the end because now he controlled my seeing them and spending time with them. He just had one problem. When they were young he and his family could fill their heads with all kind of trash and lies and they would believe it. However those children grew up and started seeing the monster he really was because he started abusing them. They would come home to me and cry because they had to go back. I called DSS for them to talk to my children. But they were so scared of him that they wouldn't tell them the truth. Then the day came when they were old enough to leave on their own and they too never looked back. They loved their dad because he was their dad. However there was no respect for him. In 2002 their father died of a massive heart attack. He and our daughter had started making amends but our son never did. A long time ago I asked God to take away the hate I had for this man. It was the only way I could move on. Then the healing from him came. He called me two days before he passed away and we had a very long conversation. One of healing, laughing, apologizing, of remembering good times. That conversation helped us to finally bury all the past. Two days later I received a phone call from our son to let me know their dad had passed away. I'm not ashamed to say I did cry at this man's funeral. He was the fa-
ther of my children and at times there were good times in our marriage. But that's not where this story ends. As I stated I the only way I was able to move on with my life was to ask God to take away the hate I had for this man. Not only did God do that but he placed a wonderful man in life. A man who taught me how to love and trust again. He taught me how to feel beautiful. Every morning no matter how I looked I was always greeted with “Good morning beautiful. A man that I know was my heart and soul. He loved my children as his own and always made time for them. In 2013 he passed away from complications due to dialysis. I am so thankful for the 28 years God gave us together. I know that one day soon I will see him again because his home now will be my new home someday. I have always believed that certain situations happen in our lives for a reason. In my first marriage I learned to be strong and to stand up for myself. I know that I will never let another man hurt me in that way again. God has also given me the opportunities to work as a victim's advocate and tell my story to other women who live in abuse. My second marriage I learned I was beautiful, worth everything to this man, and no longer useless. I was and always be a woman of worth. God had given me a wonderful, loving man and three amazing children. Melody, Allison and Eric you are my rock. I could finally say I had found my happily ever after. If you are a woman in an abusive situation and reading this let me give you a word of encouragement. There is a way out and there are people out there to help you find that way. All you have to do is take that first step. My prayer is that God will give you the courage to take that step. I know there is a happy ever after out there for you too. All you have to do is stand up, step up, and speak up. If you have a story you want to share you may email us here at southerngospelmagazine@yahoo.com or timetoendtheviolence@gmail.com We would love to hear from you. One of the steps to healing is standing up and speaking up. Don't continue to be a victim. Isn't it time you became a survivor? May God bless you all. I want to add something to this, because others might be feeling the same way, at times I thought about suicide, no way out..but I thought of my children and how they would need me!

In the beginning of this year 2014 I noticed I wasn't feeling like normal. My legs would pound with pain. I felt tired light headed and weak. In April I sang at a ladies conference in NC. It was a early service and I was to sing for an hour 10-11. As I got thru half of my set I felt weakness start to hit me. I took off my shoes to make me a little more sturdy on my feet. I held on to the bible stand for support. My face was white as a ghost. It was all I could do to make it thru my last song. I knew something was wrong. In June same thing happened as I sang at a little church down from my house . So I went that Tuesday to the health department and had my blood work done. 2 days later I got a call from the nurse and told me to get to the ER. My blood was half what it should be. I went to the ER. There they sent me for a CT Scan. There is where they found a blood clot in my lung and the lump that was in my left Breast. They also found spots on my bone. The C word is something I didn't want to hear or except. I was given a blood transfusion. Admitted to the Hospital for a few days. Because of the size of the lump the started me on the Chemo pill. I have been taking it now for 3 1/2 months. My lump has shrunk alot. The Dr is very pleased with the outcome so far. Because of spots on my bones they have started me on a shot that triggers the bone. After my last CT Scan The Dr is very pleased with the treatment. I've still have a way to go. But I know the Lord is touching my body each day. My faith has never wavered. I know God will complete what he started. My testimony will be greater. My ministry will be greater for it. www.brendabraswellmusic.com
How Do You Know if You are Mentally/Emotionally Healthy? Do you ever wonder if you’re OK mentally? With all the stress and struggle our modern world affords, who wouldn’t get upset, anxious, or depressed? How are you supposed to know if you’re responding normally or not? The National Alliance on Mental Illness asserts that one in four of us experiences a mental illness in any given year. So it’s no wonder that over 20% are taking some kind of antidepressant medication. Right now we are entering Domestic Violence Awareness Month – certainly a significant source of mental/emotional distress and illness. We hear a lot about PTSD these days; God knows we have plenty of trauma in our world, and the after-affects are not surprising. Think of the billions of dollars spent and entire industries built around people trying to get mentally healthy. It’s only in the last several decades that much of this has come to be. Come to think of it, what did people do before self-help groups, Prozac, and hotlines? I’m being a little facetious. There is much of value in the products, services, and industries to help people experience a better life. But what are we really after? If some magic potion could make you instantly “mentally healthy,” would you recognize yourself? Would you know it when you got there? “If you aim at nothing, you are sure to reach it every time.” While God never shows us every detail of the future He has for us, He shows us enough to make us hungry for it. He calls us to a life that is more challenging, meaningful, and abundant than anything we could ask for or achieve on our own. This is exactly what Jesus meant when He said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) Fully Alive Mentally/Emotionally God cares about your mind and emotions. Rather than fear, He promised “power, … love, and … a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7) He sets out to transform and renew your mind as you continue walking with Him. (1 Peter 1:13, Romans 12:2) Much of the challenges you and I face in this world come through our thoughts and emotions. Remember, Jesus experienced fatigue, loneliness, and sadness. (Matthew 26:37-40, Mark 4:38) We will continue to have negative feelings at times as long as we live in this world, but we don’t have to be controlled by them. You can have a sound mind.
Mental/emotional health looks like: Able to experience the full range of human emotions. That includes sadness, grief, pain, joy, love, hope, etc. Jesus experienced them all: we will also. Simply feeling bad is not an indicator of mental illness. An ability to appropriately feel both “good” and “bad” emotions is a sign of mental and emotional resiliency and health. Not stuck in a state of destructive emotions. While negative emotions including bitterness, anger, sadness, or anxiety are almost certain to come, feeling that way all the time, for a long time, is unhealthy. At some point, healthy people are able to move past the negative and experience the positive again as well. Not only focused on yourself. Continuous navel-gazing is decidedly unhealthy. Mental health includes an honest assessment of your own feelings. But it also includes an ability to rise above your own feelings and notice, interact with, and truly minister to others. Not stuck in victimization or entitlement. Stuff happens to all of us, much of it bad. And a period of feeling like a victim may be pretty normal. But don’t stay stuck there. Mental health means growing to a place where you can initiate positive action, and take responsibility for doing so. Able to fulfill the purpose God has for you. God can and does use anyone who will allow Him to do so. Your usefulness to Him, however, is improved when you are healthy. If you sense any inner strength and courage to do something God has asked you to do, it’s one indicator you have a degree of mental/emotional health. Mental clarity in discerning and interpreting God’s voice. God’s voice is precious. And it can be counterfeited – by God’s enemy, other people, and even our own distorted thoughts. Mental health for the Christian includes being sensitive to God’s voice, and also sensitively testing the “message” to be sure it is coming from Him. God promises you can have a mind like Jesus. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5) That’s not some nebulous spiritual idea: it’s the result of His renewing of your mind. I do NOT believe that prayer alone is a complete answer to mental illness. Prayer is an absolutely essential ingredient in mental/emotional healing. But often other modalities of help are needed along with spiritual support. If you are struggling with mental/ emotional pain or illness, please, pray AND get the help you need. And if you’re wondering about your mental health, feel reassured that struggles are common. News flash: you and I are only human! Even God knows that. (Psalm 103:14) And don't forget to listen to the Dr Carol Show!

TROY PEACH RETURNS TO THE PERRYS "Like a son coming home," is how Libbi Perry Stuffle makes the announcement describing the return of Troy Peach to the Perrys, a position he last held four years ago. Troy replaces the departing Bryan Walker, whose resignation was announced two weeks ago. Troy comes to the group having most recently toured with the Bowling Family. Troy says, "I'm thrilled to be back with the Perrys! Libbi and Tracy are literally like family. We live five minutes from each other. Jared is like a little brother. Andrew is among the best talents in our industry. And who sings better songs than the Perrys? After four years, it feels good to be back with Tracy and Libbi. It is my goal to, of course, be that vocal part they need, but also to assist Libbi in all aspects of the group's ministry. I do believe in timing and seasons for everything, and I believe that this is the right time to step back on the Perrys bus and do what I can to support Libbi and Tracy and help the group continue to grow and prosper." The transition to the Perrys will take place in the next two weeks. The Perrys thank everyone for their continued prayers and support during this time.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—October 28th, 2014—Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award -winning husband and wife country duo Joey+Rory have just released an all-new recording in partnership with Gaither Music Group. Inspired by songs from their childhoods and music that helped make them kindred spirits, the couple has created Country Classics, A Tapestry of Our Musical Heritage (Gaither Music Group/ Farm House Recordings), a collection of tunes that create a songbook of traditional American country music. Available on both CD and DVD, the recording weaves more than a fabric of lyrics and chords. “As a songwriter, these are all songs I wish I had written—songs that we are honored to not only sing, but to have the chance to try to ‘make our own,’” describes Rory, known for hits he has written or co-written for Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Randy Travis, Clay Walker and Collin Raye among others. “I dedicated this record to my father, Robert Feek, who passed away in 1988… before I ever made my way to Nashville or heard one of my songs on the radio or played the Grand Ole Opry with my beautiful wife…he would’ve loved where his dream has led me. And I believe he would’ve loved this record.” The record, produced by Rory, features songs such as “King of the Road,” “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” “Paper Roses,” “I Believe in You” and others including “Coat of Many Colors,” one of the first songs Joey learned as a little girl. “When I was about four years, old my mom and dad gave me a Dolly Parton cassette tape; and I took it upstairs and played it over and over again until I learned all of the words to ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ even though I didn’t know how to read yet,” she recalls. “I’m so proud to finally get to record [this song] and many other songs that Rory and I loved and listened to when we were young….” The two sweethearts shared stories behind these songs with gospel music legend, singer, songwriter and friend Bill Gaither on the Country Classics DVD. Taped outdoors on a sunny day at the Feek Farm south of Nashville, TN, the three talked about the couple’s successful music career, their rich heritage of country music, details of what life is like on the farm and about Joey+Rory’s year of both mountaintops and valleys. In addition to recording the new CD and video, Joey+Rory gave birth to their baby girl, Indiana, who was diagnosed with Down’s syndrome. A couple of months later, just as they were growing accustomed to the joys of parenthood, Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer, yet underwent a successful surgery to remove it. A few months later, Rory’s mother passed away. “As God often reveals, what seemed like our biggest fears are [in the end] our greatest joys,” commented Rory as he detailed how the tough days have actually made their lives more fulfilling over time—a fitting discovery for the couple whose signature song is “That’s Important to Me.” “You know, the world is trying to figure out what’s important in life,” stated Gaither reflectively. “We all do. We’re on this journey, and every day of our lives we gotta decide what’s important to hang onto and what’s important to let go.” Joey+Rory remind us of what’s important to them along life’s journey as they share their story and the songs on the new recording. The release will be featured on tv networks including RFD, PBS, DISH TV, DIRECTV, TBN, Family Net, TNN, Airtime, CTN, The Walk TV (formerly Legacy), TCT and TLN and also in Canada on TV, CTS,
Vision TV, CTS, Grace TV and the Miracle Channel. In addition, the DVD will be featured on Gaither TV (available on Roku, Google and the Internet). The couple’s hit tv series, “The Joey+Rory Show,” filmed entirely on and around their farm, is one of the highest rated shows on the RFD-TV cable channel. Country Classics, A Tapestry of Our Musical Heritage, is exclusively distributed by Capitol Christian Distribution and is available throughout general market stores and the Christian marketplace in addition to online retailers including iTunes, Amazon and www.gaither.com. The audio recording is available at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®. The Bowling Family Hit #1 With "I Know Enough” .
Nashville, TN (October 22, 2014) The Bowling Family charts the number one song in the top two charts for Southern Gospel Music. The Bowling Family has had 23 number one songs in their stellar career but this is the first since their bus accident 4 years ago on July 1st of 2010. The song ‘I Know Enough’ is the current single from their "Safe After The Storm” project. It was written by Marcia Henry, Belinda Smith and features the beautiful voice of Kelly Bowling. This is just another achievement by a group that has garnered numerous nominations and awards in their time together as a group. These include 3 GRAMMY® nominations, 19 Dove Award nominations, 11 Dove Awards including multiple "Song Of The Year" Dove wins for Country, Southern, and Traditional, Absolutely Gospel News Award for Male Vocalist and Female Vocalist and 18 Absolutely Gospel News Awards . Kelly Bowling stated "In the fall of 2010 Marcia Henry and Belinda Smith were in Nashville collaborating on a song. These ladies, collectively have written nearly a dozen number one songs, so this may have been a "business as usual" kind of songwriting session. But, it wasn't. Little did they realize, when they started humming a melody, putting a lyric on paper, that this song was mine. They had no clue that I was a few miles from them....sitting in a wheelchair, waiting for a doctor to "GIVE it to me straight" about my ability to take care of myself, my kids, and way on down the line of importance, would I ever be well enough to stand on a stage, travel on a bus, live my life....as I had known life. For you see, this song was written just weeks after our bus hit that semi. It was written for me to sing in this season of my life. For truly, I may not know much, "BUT I KNOW ENOUGH!" Continuing Kelly commented "I have been privileged to be a part of some great songs in my life, but this one speaks everything I have to say, and would say, if I had a summary of my journal from the last half of 2010. MY personal thanks to Marcia and Belinda for being who they are, and doing what they do. Without a song, we would have nothing to offer." The Bowlings are regulars on the Grand Ole Opry, performed multiple times on Gaither video series. They were featured on the Gaither video tribute to the Crabb Family (playing on works, 2009, 2010.) Mike, Kelly, Hope Bowling and Troy Peach (collectively) have sold more than 1.2 million recordings.

About The Bowlings The group consists of Mike Bowling and his wife, Kelly, their daughter Hope and longtime friend Troy Peach. They bring you their stories and songs in a way that is reminiscent of days gone by. To watch them perform reminds us of a time when "all night singings" were the norm, and folks lined up early to visit with the singers and musicians. As in most things, musical styles come full circle. What is old is new, and what is new is old!! Musically, Mike, Kelly, Hope and Troy make us realize this. Somehow they have created a sound that is as refreshing as the sounds of the early 70s. DON’T WEEP Luke 7:11 Soon afterward he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him.12 As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her.13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”14 Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” The pain from a mother who now has no one, walking to the resting place of her child with no hope. Death was the finality of life and there is nothing that can be done, no chance to ever see him again, no chance to say good bye, not one more kiss. Not one more I love you ,just nothing. No thought of a promise, no time to ask what’s next and have that talk about what’s next after this life. I have lost a loved one but i have never lost a child so i cannot even imagine the pain, the loss, the terrible feeling of emptiness that she has got to feel now that none of her family is alive, so alone without hope. I can imagine in my mind walking down the road and seeing the procession, the many who have come to show support .to love and say good bye. As the crowd walks down the road there is another crowd coming into the city, a large crowd following and listening to this man as he is speaking, hanging on his every word, listening to the promises of something that has come and is coming, a promise of hope that they have never heard before. They had heard of his teaching and his miracles so they were not going to leave till they heard this man, this one they called Rabi. Then the two crowds meet and while one crowd is learning the other crowd is mourning. One crowd is in amazement as to this man that is teaching while
the other crowd is captivated with grief. One crowd is listening to hope while the other is seeing no hope. Then the one who was teaching sees the woman and is stuck with her grief, and walks up to her. The two large crowds have now become one and here is this widow woman and now childless and this teacher standing together near the bearers, and she looks up at this stranger who has approached her who she has never seen before. This stranger who has just come into town with such a larger crowd, who is he? Who is this man who has interrupted her morning, interrupted her path to lay her son to rest, who does that? Doesn't she have enough to contend with today and now this?, this interruption of her grief? Doesn't he understand that she has lost her last hope? Does he not understand that she has lost everything in her life, her child? He then opens his mouth and says "don't weep". Don't weep? This is my son, do you not have compassion? Who are you anyway? Why have you come my way? Why are you in this town anyway, why have you come my way? Why are all these people following you and seem happy while I’m in such grief? I can just see this very large crowd standing in the street and here is this widow and this man standing eye to eye, not knowing each other, never before have they met and he says "don't weep" But wait. In another time in another place. Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," here is this man again showing compassion to another mother, this time he is the one who is about to die. Two mothers grieving but one man in common, two woman who are grieving for their son's and cannot seem to be able to do anything, so lost with no hope.......mothers As he touches the bier and everyone is watching this man who is showing so much compassion, he just says "young man, I say to you, arise". There was a seed of something that she had never felt before, a hope? A seed of faith that is ready to spring forth? The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. This voice has somehow pierced my soul, He speaks to death like he somehow control’s death. Who is this man who commands a dead boy to live like he is so confident? But wait. Can you imagine the look on their faces? That look that we would have if we saw someone who was dead rise? That look that Mary
had on that morning? Then that rush of feelings that something that could not happen has just happened, that energy that I cannot describe, That energy that seems so strong, so lively, so full of life, Wait my son has risen! He is alive! And then he just starts talking.. There is sorrow in death here on earth, even the master showed compassion and shed tears when faced with such tragedy. But that man who both mothers had in common not only raised that son with just a touch, rose one morning himself and the sorrow has now changed to joy everlasting. This same man is still showing compassion and is still comforting those who are grieving. Here is something the mother didn't know when that day begun that we now know. That very same man that raised her son that day? She will see him again, he is going to say her name one day and she will recognize that voice, That voice with so much power, That voice that even death listens too, that voice of the master who will call us all one day, and will put an end to death once and for all, and until then "don't weep"

Prayer Is A Key To Greater Works Welcome to the Porch, Hope you brought a nice cold glass of sweet tea or a nice warm cup of coffee. First let’s say a short prayer asking God to open our ears and our heart. Father, we come to you now asking that you will use these words in such a way that hearts will be blessed and open to you. Father, all we do we do for you. Each of us humbled, by your love and mercies every day. Amen Our scripture text will be John 14:12 …”I say to you, he believes in Me,… greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” All of us pray and ask God to help us do what he has called us to do. However, Prayer within its self DOES NOT equip us for greater works… Prayer IS THE greater work. We often think of Prayer as an exercise of our higher powers that will simply prepare us for God’s work. Jesus taught that prayer was (is) the miracle of redemption in me, which produces the redemption of miracle in others. The way our fruits stay strong is through prayer. We must go to God as His child because only a child gets prayers answered; a “wise” man does not (see Matthew 11:25) Prayer is a battle, and it doesn’t matter where you are. God may engineer your circumstances or situation, but prayer is your duty. Don’t ever fall into the trap and let yourself think, I am no use where I am. Because, you cannot be used where you have not been place. No matter where God has placed you or whatever your situation. You should pray, continually offering up prayers to him.” Whatever you ask in My name…(John 14:13) Yet most of us don’t pray as we should, unless it thrills or excites us. This is spiritual selfishness at its peak. We must learn to work according to God’s direction and He says to pray… “Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send his laborers into the harvest” There is nothing thrilling or exciting about a laboring person’s work. But it is the laboring person’s work that makes it possible. It is the laboring saint ideas that make the ideas of the Master possible. When you/I/we, labor at prayer, from God’s prospective there are always results. What a great time it will be when the veil is finally lifted, all the souls that have been reap over the years, simply because you made a habit of taking your needs to Christ

PTSD IS REAL Unless you have walked in my shoes don't say you understand If you've never fought a battle in a foreign land There are no words that can describe the hell we went through But we remained on the battlefield to defend this land for you We were taught to shoot and kill the enemy on sight And to keep our eyes wide open especially at night Now that we have come back home it's hard for us to cope So many of us just give up as we feel there is no hope We ask you please to help us and our message heed Please make it possible for us to get the help we need
