Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in East Troy aboard the East urday, Dec. 5. Tickets are on sale at the East Troy Area ChamTroy Electric Railroad Santa Train last year. This year’s Santa ber of Commerce, Mukwonago Area Chamber of Commerce Train departs from the Elegant Farmer in Mukwonago on Sat- office, or online at easttroy.org.
Christmas comes to East Troy
The first Saturday in December marks a 43-year-old tradition in East Troy – the East Troy Electric Railroad’s Santa Train arrival, which brings Santa and Mrs. Claus into the village in style. Once the train reaches the East Troy depot, the Clauses are escorted to the historic downtown square on an East Troy Fire Department fire truck, where they greet the assembled masses and light the Bob Barutha Memorial Christmas Tree. Presented by the East Troy Electric Railroad in conjunction with the East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce and Mukwonago Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Center, the beautifully lit four-car train travels down the century-old interurban trolley line between Mukwonago and East Troy. Spectators, who aren’t aboard the
2015
train, can catch a glimpse of Santa along Highway ES. The train will stop briefly at the following crossings: • 5:30 p.m., train departs at The Elegant Farmer; • 5:45 p.m., Army Lake Road – Army Lake Camp; • 6 p.m., St. Peter’s Road; • 6:15 p.m., Byrnes Street; • 6:25 p.m., Division Street; • 6:30 p.m., Santa arrives on Village Square. The heated passenger trolley picks up riders at 5:30 p.m. at The Elegant Farmer and follow the Santa Train to East Troy. Tickets for the special ride, which must be purchased in advance, are available at the East Troy Chamber Office, 2096 Church St. (on the village square) and the Mukwonago Chamber Office, 100 Atkinson St.

Santa on the Square In anticipation of Santa’s arrival on Dec. 5, festivities on the East Troy Village Square begin around 6 p.m. with concessions and a Christmas carol sing-along. The East Troy Lioness Club offers refreshments in the warmth of the Lions Lodge beginning at 5 p.m. The East Troy Historical Society will have refreshments and tours from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Entertainment by Cork N Christmas Carolers inside Ivan’s Backstage on the square, is also part of the holiday happenings. Photos of children with Santa and Mrs. Claus are available following the tree lighting for $5 each, with the proceeds to benefit the East Troy Food Pantry.
