FOR SALE BY OWNER: SALEM MILL CREEK CONDO at 24931 87th St. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, large den, 2 and a half car attached garage, deck overlooking pond and countryside. 2nd floor. 1442 square feet quiet, close to school and library. Easy access to HWY 83 & 50. 262-945-1241.

Prospective buyers should not allow themselves to become so preoccupied with interest rates that they overlook other factors that are in their control. For instance, if buyers are able to save more than 20 percent for a down payment, they can avoid paying for “private mortgage insurance” (PMI) every month, which could cost buyers more than a slightly higher interest rate. Buyers should also consider the possibility that, even if interest rates do fall, they may likely be offset by higher real estate prices. Then, instead of financially qualifying to own a home, a prospective buyer may be faced with a higher down payment, a slightly lower rate on a larger mortgage, and higher monthly payments. Many real estate experts point out that the right time to purchase a house is when it is personally and financially feasible for a person or family to do so.
