regularly scheduled meeting on June 7. Dekalb County Revenue Commissioner, Tyler Wilks, announced several retirees and resignations from his Rainsville office. Wilks stated that it will take some time to replace these employees and train new ones. He stated that it was his decision to open the Rainsville office only on Tuesday and Wednesday effective June 24- September 30. The office will reopen and operate on normal hours beginning October1. Rainsville Implements Sewer Rate Increase
By Marla Jones Managing Editor marla@southerntorch.com RAINSVILLE, Ala.-- (Full video online) The Rainsville City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 7. The City of Rainsville will be partnering with the Section-Dutton Water Board for billing sewer customers. Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt
informed the Council that the Water Board calculates the sewer bill according to water usage. The minimum rate of $22.00 will increase to $26.38. Lingerfelt stated that sewer rates have not increased in sixteen years, despite the USDA advising the city five years ago to raise the rates. Lingerfelt went on to state that letters will be mailed out in the coming weeks
explaining the billing increase to Rainsville citizens. The Rainsville Sign Code Ordinance which passed on 3-15-2021, authorized the City Council to set a fee for sign permits. On Monday night , the Council passed Resolution 06-07-2021 (A) which set the fee for sign permits at $25.00 per sign.

Dekalb Awarded COVID Funding
