NEW FYFFE PRINCIPAL NAMED By Marla Jones Managing Editor marla@southerntorch.com

RAINSVILLE, Ala.-- The DeKalb County Board of Education named Tim McCollum as the new Principal of Fyffe High School at their meeting on Thursday. McCollum previously served as the Fyffe Elementary Principal. In the work session of the DeKalb County Board of Education, Anthony Cooper, Chief School Financial Officer for the DeKalb County School System conducted the first budget hearing and work session for the upcoming fiscal year. According to Cooper, two hearings must be conducted to allow questions from the Board and the public before approval. Another meeting will be conducted at next month's meeting of the DeKalb County Board of

FORT PAYNE, Ala.-Earlier this month, the Vintage Cuban Sandwich from Vintage 1889 Cafe, was placed on the Alabama Tourism Department’s list of 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama. Vintage 1889, is owned and operated by Dr. Steve and Lynn Brewer. “When I created the menu, there were two sandwiches Steve insisted upon, the Muffuletta and the Cuban. We have limited storage space for our restaurant (soon to be remedied by our new kitchen to be finished in a couple of weeks), and I didn’t have space for bread just for the Cuban, so we used our Telera roll. Steve created a special sauce for the Cuban he wanted to use and it honestly “makes” the
