FP To Crack Down on Violators

FORT PAYNE, aLa.—According to the Fort Payne Department, at 12:35am Monday, November 15, the Fort Payne Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on Railroad Ave SE. Fire Fighters battled the commercial structure fire for several hours and remained on the scene into the afternoon. A portion of Railroad Ave SE between 8th and 10th street remains closed at this time. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The first reading of 2021-18, which amended Ordinance 2004-14, the Alcohol Ordinance, to expand the penalties for non-payment of monthly taxes. The Alcohol Committee passed the amendment unanimously. This was the first reading but after a brief discussion, the Council suspended the rules for
immediate consideration and passed Ordinance 2021-18. This ordinance will impose a 15% monthly penalty if over 60 days past the due date for paying monthly alcohol sales taxes. Businesses will have their license suspended for two

WORK TO BEGIN ON CHAVIES SOON

RAINSVILLE, Ala.--(FULL VIDEO ON SOUTHERN TORCH FACEBOOK) The Rainsville City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on November 15.
The Council passed Resolution 11-15-2021 A, which awarded the bid for demolition of the existing culvert at Chavies Road in the amount of $7,842.00 to Brown Construction. The Council gave Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt the authority to prepare paperwork by the
City of Rainsville to put out for bids in early December, for the replacement of the culvert at Chavies Road. The Council passed Resolution 11-15-2021 B, which un-surplused a Mahindra Tractor, due to lack of suitable bids. The tractor will be used in
various locations within the City. Recently, a Rainsville Sanitation truck spilled hydraulic fuel at the Ider Housing Authority. Workers brought in sand to cover the spill. The City does not have the equipment to clean up the sand at the site. The
