By Zach Hester Reporter zach@southerntorch.com DeKALB COUNTY, Ala. — The DeKalb County Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 8. In the meeting, DeKalb County Road Superintendent Tom
Broyles delivered an update on the progress of County Road (CR) 835, also known as Old Highway 35. As previously reported, in February 2019, a large amount of rainfall caused damage to CR835 and it was forcibly closed after several slides made the road impassable. Broyles reported that work had begun two weeks
ago on the two spots that slid with the upper portion repaired and work beginning on the lower portion. Broyles stated he hoped the road would reopen later this fall. In other business, The Commission: • Hired John Freeman in the Road Department for the open position in District 3
• Approved two speed limit resolutions, the first on CR86 between 221 and 68 at 35 mph and the second on CR88 between Lebanon and Pine Ridge at 40 mph • Forwarded a damage claim from John Miller to insurance
