By Staff Reports FORT PAYNE, Ala. — According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office several were arrested over the last week after searches were conducted to find stolen property. Two in Sylvania were arrested after a search revealed obscene material and evidence of child sexual abuse and bestiality. A man was also sent to the hospital on Highway 11 near Valley Head after a domestic dispute. On Sunday, October 29th the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a homeowner on Highway 117 to find two subjects in his house. The homeowner held the subjects, Robert Brewster (34 of Valley Head) and James Himber (39 of Henagar) until Ider Police, Henagar Police and Deputies arrived. Once Deputies and Investigators arrived Brewster and Himber was arrested and charged with burglary 3rd

at this with more charges pending on both subjects.

During the investigation of this burglary, Investigators and Deputies went to Brewster’s residence on County Road 121 to recover possible stolen items. While at that residence Brewster was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia. Also arrest was Melissa Louise Harrison (35 of Valley Head) for Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia.

By Staff Reports FORT PAYNE, Ala. — DeKalb Deputy Daniel Mathews passed away tragically early Tuesday morning (October 31, 2017) after an auto accident. A

memorial service was held at 3 pm on Thursday, November 2 at Wilson Funeral Home. The family received friends from 12 pm to 3 pm, and a graveside service was held immediately after the memorial at Walker’s Chapel Cemetery. On Tuesday, The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on mourning the loss of one of their own: “Our hearts here at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office are saddened this morning when we learned that one of our Deputies, Daniel Mathews was in a car accident that took his life.

On Sunday, October 29th Investigators and Deputies went to a residence on Hwy 75 in Ider to execute a search warrant for stolen property. During the search Dustin Franco (33 of Pisgah) was arrested for Marijuana 2nd, Drug Paraphernalia, Obstructing Government Operations, and Resisting Arrest. Also arrested was Bridget Lashae Mosher, 26 of Ider, and charged with Marijuana 2nd and Drug Paraphernalia with other charges still pending.

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — (Full Video on our Website) After approving minutes from the previous meetings, the Fort Payne Board of Education began their October meeting with a presentation from

an architect on the new facilities planned for the school system. Robert Littleton of Goodwyn, Mills, and Cawood presented plans for a new gymnasium, tech building, and an additional dressing facility. These are just a few of the projects that the firm is working on for the board's capital

improvement plan. Littleton overviewed the plan for the new competition size gymnasium first. The gym will have large, arena type seating, retracting bleachers, and allows for courts going in both directions. The gym will
