LA MOTTE

VIN DE JOIE ROSÉ 2021

A new addition to La Motte’s celebrated repertoire of wines, the ‘Vin De Joie’ 2021 is a French-style Rosé made from a blend of 71% Grenache, 19% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah. Beguiling salmon pink in colour, this wine delivers well-defined notes of melon, rose petal, nectarine, and Turkish delight on the nose, followed by a polished and juicy palate balanced by refreshing acidity and a lingering nectarine aftertaste.

Tokara’s done it again! Their 2021 vintage of Sauvignon Blanc is summer wine perfection incarnate with its crisp, deliciously vibrant flavours. This devilishly moreish wine blends the racy acidity of cool-climate Elgin grapes with the exuberance of warmer climate Stellenbosch fruit, and the result is a bouquet of fresh green apples, black currant leaf, lime blossoms, and subtle oyster-shell salinity.

From the renowned Stellenbosch winery of Eikendal comes the limited release Mon Désir 2018, the second-ever vintage of this Chardonnay, which is only produced in exceptional years. The new vintage of Grenache Blanc from KWV’s “The Mentors” range is an exquisitely layered wine with aromas of white, fleshy peaches, pineapple, and litchi with hints of minerality, lime, oak, and roasted almonds. On the palate, liberal freshness and texture are supported by a linear acidity that enhances the mineral and concentrated finish.

Crafted from Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, this pale straw, green-tinged blend serves up a delightful nose of winter melon, citrus, nectarines, and green figs, followed by notes of lime, citrus, and tropical fruit on the palate. Having grown in maritime climatic conditions, the grapes are slow-ripened, resulting in a delicate, fruity wine with a refreshingly crisp edge and a finish that hints at sweetness.

CONSTANTIA GLEN THREE 2018

Hailing from the highly acclaimed family-owned boutique wine estate of Constantia Glen, the THREE is a Bordeauxstyle red wine blend of Merlot (55%), Cabernet Franc (26%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (19%). The wine is “juicy, glossy, and redfruited with some spicy oak, a green undertone, and a nicely poised finish,” according to UK Master of Wine Tim Atkin, who awarded the Constantia Glen THREE a handsome 92 points!

As timeless and suave as James Bond himself, the Barista Black 2019 is an ode to the richness of the Pinotage legacy and a luxurious expression of this uniquely South African cultivar. The grapes for this sultry Pinotage were sourced predominantly from 20-year-old Swartland bush vines, with the finished product exhibiting an opulent nose of plums, red currants, and baking spice. On the palate, a generous fruit core, velvety tannins, and oak complexity.

Nederburg’s new Double Barrel Reserve is a Bordeaux-style blend of the winery’s hallmark Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, each component of which has been uniquely vinified and matured before being combined to achieve a wine of the finest-grained silky texture and a thrilling richness and depth. The nose and palate are a lavish and lengthy feast of sun-ripened blueberries and juicy cherry flavours.

Hailing from one of South Africa’s highest and coldest winemaking districts, Durbanville, this dark, full-bodied, and weighty Syrah delivers fresh, white pepper aromas and leafy, herbal flavours of buchu, rosemary, and allspice underscored by smooth, ripe, wellintegrated tannins.
