When my daughter, Blayne Macauley, assumed the task of creating this publication, she decided to name it, The Series. She believed each edition was a piece of art, and when they were viewed collectively they would constitute a body of work.

The magazine is produced in our marketing department with graphic designers, photographers, and support staff who share and contribute their ideas. In my opinion, each magazine is a gorgeous piece of art. When we started the company in the fall of 2006, we had no idea what was in front of us! Having been in the business for 24 years at that time, I was intimidated by the prospect of starting a company but felt confident that with the support of friends and loved ones we would find our way. The company started on my dining room table in my new home, which was still under construction. We had temporary power and heat, but we were excited!

Thankfully, 2007 was an incredible year for my personal business. Our founding agents never missed a beat and were producing what became a banner year for them as well. We were well positioned for the real estate collapse, which ensued in 2008. Our company was tiny, and we were able to grow through the downturn. There was never any doubt we would survive. Our small company was made up of tenacious professionals.

Buckhead
(E-8) In 1837, Henry Irby purchased 203 acres in what is now the center of Buckhead where he opened a tavern and grocery store that became a stopping place for travelers in the thensparsely populated wilderness. Before long, the community that grew around Irby’s store became known as Irbyville. At some point in the mid-1800s, the head of a large deer was put on a post not far from the tavern, and from then on, the area became known as Buckhead. By the early 20th century, Buckhead had become a posh suburb of Atlanta, where many of the city’s wealthiest people resided. The area was annexed into the city of Atlanta in 1952, and as early as the 1960’s, Fortune magazine described it as “the top encampment of business executives in the Southeast,” and that remains true today. Sometimes called “the Beverly Hills of the East,” Buckhead is home to one-of-a-kind estates, an abundance of trees, the Southeast’s finest shopping and restaurants, and some of the nation’s best private schools.
Atlanta Intown - Morningside Continued: including a preponderance of Tudor and bungalow style homes, small parks, and mini villages with restaurants and boutique shops. The shopping and bars in Virginia Highlands are decidedly more eclectic than Morningside, which has a popular farmer’s market and a 30-acre nature preserve.9 *BUCKHEAD - GARDEN HILLS (E-9) Garden Hills was developed in the 1920s around a neighborhood park and swimming pool that remain a central gathering place to this day. The neighborhood has a total of three parks including Frankie Allen Park, a popular site for community sporting events. Garden Hills is home to the Atlanta International School and Garden Hills Elementary School, both of which were designed by famed Atlanta architect Philip Shutze and are on the National Register of Historic Places.
*ATLANTA INTOWN - ANSLEY PARK (F-11) Developed in 1904, Ansley Park is revered for its turn-of-the-century architecture and inspired land plan, which incorporates wide parkways, rear alleys, and majestic parks. Ansley Park is home to Ansley Golf Club (1912),3 which has been ranked among the top nine-hole courses in the United States and the Piedmont Driving Club (1887), one of the most prestigious private clubs in the Southeast.4
*BUCKHEAD - BROOKWOOD HILLS (E-10) Brookwood Hills is a true enclave that is perhaps best known for the towering 100-year old oaks. Many of the neighborhood’s charming homes were designed in the early 1900s by such notable Atlanta architects as Neel Reid and Lewis Crook, among many others. The neighborhood has a community club that includes a six-acre park with swimming pool, clubhouse and tennis courts. Brookwood Hills is convenient to both Midtown and Buckhead, as well shopping and restaurants along Peachtree Road and the medical facilities around Piedmont Hospital.
BUCKHEAD - BROOKHAVEN (H-7) Brookhaven was developed in 1911 around a nine-hole golf course that was expanded to 18 holes a few years later. Many of the original homes were designed by well-known Atlanta architects of the period including Neel Reid and Hal Hentz. The picturesque clubhouse of the Capitol City Club, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is the focal point of the neighborhood. The city’s best shopping and restaurants are nearby.5
BUCKHEAD - CHASTAIN PARK (E-6) At 268 acres, Chastain Park is the largest park in the City of Atlanta. The park has jogging paths, playgrounds, tennis courts, a golf course, swimming pool, private horse park, and amphitheater. The enormous popularity of the park makes the homes and neighborhoods around the park among the most desirable in the city.
*ATLANTA INTOWN - DRUID HILLS (H-12) Druid Hills was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, who also created Central Park in New York City. Olmstead planned Druid Hills with winding, tree-lined streets and small parks. The neighborhood contains some of Atlanta’s most historic mansions designed by such notable architects as Walter T. Downing and Neel Reid. The community is anchored by Emory University, Emory University Hospital, and the internationally recognized Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Druid Hills is also home to the Fernbank Museum of National History, Fernbank Science Center, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center6 and the Druid Hills Civic Association.7 ATLANTA MIDTOWN - MIDTOWN (F-12) Midtown residents are drawn to the area’s many new high rise condominiums as well as dining and nightlife options which are some of the best in the city. Midtown is also a huge cultural draw because it is home to the High Museum of Art, Woodruff Arts Center, The Fox Theatre and Piedmont Park. Efforts are currently underway to create The Midtown Mile along Peachtree Street, a stretch of retail shops that is intended to duplicate the Miracle Mile shopping district on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. ATLANTA INTOWN - MORNINGSIDE (G-11) Morningside was first developed in 1923 following the success of the Virginia Highlands8 neighborhood to the south. Morningside shares many similarities with Virginia Highlands,
BUCKHEAD - TUXEDO PARK (E-8) In 1910, Charles H. Black Sr. bought 300 acres off West Paces Ferry Road and began formally developing the area now known as Tuxedo Park into large, heavily wooded lots. Today, homes in the area are among the most grand in all of Atlanta and its streets among the most prestigious in the Southeast. BUCKHEAD - PINE HILLS (F-9) Pine Hills is located between Buford Highway (South), C & S Railways (North), Lenox Road (West) and East Roxboro (East). It was originally a farming community through the early 1900s when Atlantans began moving out of the city to the country. Early inhabitants included Dr. Powell of Atlanta. He built a big white house that also served as a hotel. They later converted the land into the Standard Club, and it is currently Lenox Park. There was also a riding academy near Cantor Road. After World War II developers came in and built out the rest of the area with many of the homes that exist today. BUCKHEAD - HAYNES MANOR (E-10) Homes in Haynes Manor resemble small manor houses in the English and French styles. The first homes built in Haynes Manor in the 1920s were on large lots and sited on the either side of the Peachtree Battle Avenue, a magnificent parkway that is one of the most scenic streets in Atlanta.

BUCKHEAD - PEACHTREE HEIGHTS EAST (E-9) Peachtree Heights East is known best for "the duck pond," a picturesque neighborhood lake. The duck pond and its surrounding park underwent major restoration in 2001, with new landscaping, stacked rock retaining walls and stone bridges over tributaries. BUCKHEAD - PEACHTREE HEIGHTS WEST (E-9) Located in the area between West Paces Ferry Road and Peachtree Battle Avenue, this community is known for its broad streets lined with towering trees. Comprised of about 400 homes, mostly traditional in style, Peachtree Heights West is known as one of the city’s most charming and tranquil neighborhoods. This sought-after area is also just a few miles north of downtown and a short distance from several of Buckhead’s most popular restaurants and shops. Refer to the map on the previous page. BUCKHEAD - SPRINGLAKE/MEMORIAL PARK/WILDWOOD (E-10) The neighborhoods of Springlake, Memorial Park and Wildwood are among Buckhead’s most walkable. Parks and neighborhood shopping in close proximity. COBB COUNTY - EAST COBB (Marietta and Roswell) (D-3) East Cobb draws families who seek a suburban lifestyle with low property taxes and excellent public schools, which are among the top 10% in the state. COBB COUNTY - VININGS (B-7) Vinings10 is named for an engineer who came to the area on behalf of Western & Atlantic Railroad in the 1830s to build a railroad bridge over the Chattahoochee River. The community is known for its charming, Victorian-inspired village with boutique shops, fine restaurants and coffee houses. Vinings residents are attracted to the area by low Cobb County property taxes, proximity to Buckhead, the private schools there and the community’s overall small town feel. North Fulton
The term “North Fulton” refers to the area of Fulton County north of I-285. North Fulton was still a sleepy, mostly rural area 30 years ago but as a result of GA 400 opening in the 1970s, economic development boomed. Today, North Fulton is the prime relocation destination for many public and private companies moving headquarters and office operations to metro Atlanta. The area is home to perhaps the largest concentration of topperforming public schools in the state - 31 in all. North Fulton and neighboring Forsyth County to the north are also a golfer’s paradise, with more than two dozen public and private golf courses. Many of those golf courses are within prestigious country clubs such as St. Ives, St. Marlo, and Country Club of the South. The area is also home to many horse farms, with the Milton area retaining much of the county’s rural tradition. NORTH FULTON - ALPHARETTA (D-5) The town of Alpharetta was chartered in 1858. Most of the Alpharetta you see today is the result of the development of 2,950 acres for the Windward community beginning in the early 1980s. This master-planned community of approximately 2,400 homes features a 197-acre lake, sports complexes, an acclaimed golf course and a large office component, which is home to many public and private companies.

NORTH FULTON - DUNWOODY (C-9) Located near upscale Perimeter Mall and the Perimeter Business District, which the Atlanta Business Chronicle recently called “the city center of Atlanta,” Dunwoody began to take off in the 1970s following the completion of I-285. The construction of the Williamsburg–style Dunwoody Village was the first of several upscale shopping areas in the south part of town. Today, the community is home to Dunwoody Country Club and Golf Course and is served by three of the highest achieving elementary schools in the state, Austin Elementary, Chestnut Elementary and Vanderlyn Elementary. NORTH FULTON - JOHNS CREEK (F-5) Johns Creek was originally an outcropping of trading post for Cherokee Indians along the Chattahoochee river. After a few of the original settlers (McGinnis, Cowart, Medlock) arrived, they developed trading post and ferry crossings at those post. In 1981 a group of Georgia Tech developers created an office park and named it Johns Crees after a place they found on an old map of the land. Henceforth, it’s been called Johns Creek. It’s now been incorporated as a city and is the 13th highest earning city in the US according to Money Magazine. NORTH FULTON - MILTON (C-3) The town of Milton was created from an area of unincorporated Fulton County in 2006. Long renowned for horse farms and its bucolic rural countryside, the area has grown in recent years through the addition of upscale neighborhoods such as Alpharetta County Club, Trophy Club of Atlanta, and White Columns Country Club. Milton boasts excellent schools, many of them newly-constructed in just the last several years. Areas within the town of Milton include the quaint historic district of Crabapple and the villages of Birmingham and Hopewell. NORTH FULTON - ROSWELL (B-6) In the 1930's, Roswell King of Darien, Ga. travelled to the area that is now Roswell and began constructing various mills, which were incorporated as The Roswell Manufacturing Company in 1838. Mr. King offered homesites and investment opportunities to his friends and associates from coastal Georgia, and a community was built. Mr. King’s associates constructed magnificent homes along with cottages and apartments for mill workers, a general store, a church, and an educational academy for the children.11 The mill operations remained active until 1975, when Roswell became popular as a bedroom community for Atlanta. Much of the town’s original charm remains within Historic Roswell which is home to boutique shops and upscale restaurants. NORTH FULTON - SANDY SPRINGS (A-9) Named for a spring that is still in existence today, the recently formed city of Sandy Springs (2005) is comprised of diverse neighborhoods, many with popular swim and tennis clubs. Residential development began in earnest in the 1950s, and commercial development took off in the 1970s following the completion of I-285 (1969). In recent years, architects and builders have flocked to the area to build mansions on the area’s sprawling lots. The city’s main shopping district is located along Roswell Road between I-285 and Abernathy Road. Heards Ferry High School and Riverwood High School are among the top 40% public schools in the state. NORTH FULTON - SOUTH FORSYTH COUNTY (F-3) In 2008, Forsyth County was named the 13th most wealthy county in the nation by Forbes. com and the wealthiest in the state of Georgia, with much of the wealth concentrated in the southern part of the county. The county consistently ranks as one of the fastest growing in the country as many new residents move to such upscale communities as Chattahoochee River Club, Laurel Springs, Polo Golf and Country Club, St. Marlo Country Club, Windermere, and Vickery.
