welcome Welcome to our summer season We have lots for you to enjoy in our theatres, galleries, bars and, of course, in our fabulous grounds this summer. Festival events abound – plenty of food, music, Shakespeare and family days out. Don’t miss the two exciting anniversaries that we are celebrating across the arts centre programme. 2015 is the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland and we have a fun promenade production lined up for you, together with some delightful exhibitions of beautiful prints and illustrations inspired by Alice. To celebrate 800 years since the signing of Magna Carta we have lots of events and shows taking place in a replica of Shakespeare’s Globe which will magically spring up in the grounds of the arts centre, as well as an extraordinary series of eight quilts on display, which will depict the story of Magna Carta. We are very excited to be hosting an amazing Matisse exhibition from the Southbank Centre – don’t miss the opening preview on Wednesday 22 April at 7pm. Please take this as your official invitation. See you there! Ron McAllister Chief Executive Its back! After the success of Fawlty Towers in 2013, South Hill Park presents Fawlty Towers 2. Laugh your way through three hilarious new episodes! A bold new play about depression and the lengths we will go to for those we love. Each show involves members of the audience, making each performance unique. You’re six years old. Mum’s in hospital. Dad says she’s ‘done something stupid’. She finds it hard to be happy. So you start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything that’s worth living for. 1. Ice cream. 2. Water fights. 3. Staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV... You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling. Twenty years and thousands of entries later, the list will take on a life of its own. It’s a big day in Venice. Gondoliers Marco and Giuseppe, one of whom must be the city’s most eligible bachelor (but it’s not clear which), are going to get married to two of the local peasant girls (but it’s not clear which). However, one of them is unknowingly a King who is already married (but it’s not clear which). To sort this out, they’ll need the Grand Inquisitor, who’s either being very helpful or very annoying (but it’s not clear which).

To save their love, they lost everything else Valediction is the story of the secret love of aristocratic Anne More and notorious love poet John Donne.
They broke the rules of class by a clandestine marriage in a time of oppression of women and of faith. Inevitably they were discovered and paid the price of social defiance in a brutal age. Donne betrayed his Catholic heritage by becoming one of the greatest Anglican writers of all time. But when Anne died at the height of his fame, Donne was inconsolable. In this new play, Susan Rollins shows the devastating cost of mixing love, religion, and ambition.

South Hill Park Arts Centre is a place where you can spend your life. A cup of coffee on that first date, then dinner and a show, a proposal in the Italian Gardens, followed by a wedding reception in the Recital Room. A few years later you can visit the panto with the children and encourage them to embark on a journey through the arts. Years later, they might even have that cup of coffee on that first date at SHP. It’s a place that can stay with you for a lifetime.
Please visit www.southhillpark.org.uk By phone 01344 484123 During the hours of 7 and 8pm our box office staff are extremely busy – you may experience a delay in your call being answered.
Refunds and resales
Call into the Arts Centre and we can take your booking personally.
Tickets, once purchased, cannot be refunded. If the show is sold out, we can try to resell your tickets for you. A £1 administration fee per ticket is charged. Resale cannot be guaranteed. This service is free to members.
