MUSCLE CAR AND CORVETTE NATIONALS: GEARED UP AND READY! The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show is truly a national treasure for us car folks, right in our own backyard. Held annually the weekend before Thanksgiving, this show focuses on the absolute best 60’s and 70’s factory stock Muscle Cars and the rarest Corvettes. With well over 500 cars on the show floor, they fill nearly 400,000 square feet of exhibit space at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. “We are thrilled to get back to Rosemont” stated MCACN Managing Member, Bob Ashton. Every year they put on an entirely new and fresh show. And while the primary focus will always be on good old fashioned American Muscle, there is an incredible number of unexpected treasures and some neat additional features. “We are a family friendly show, with all kinds of activities throughout the weekend” Ashton said. In addition to the cars, they have several “Shows within the Show, featuring Muscle Bicycles, like Sting Rays and Krates, and a cool gathering of vintage Mini-Bikes. A wide variety of special Invitational displays bring out the real rarities of the Muscle Car world and this year is no exception. The Premier Unveilings kick off the event Saturday morning, with the first showing of freshly restored Muscle Cars. Anniversary displays for the years 1968 and 1973, a big Boss Ford and Mercury Invitational, Big Body Buicks, the Evolution of the Dodge Charger and the Chevy Impala and the ever-popular Barn Finds and Hidden Gems are just a few more of this year’s features. The show is a mixed make event, so no matter what make or model you prefer, you’ll find a wide variety of cars that will stop you in your tracks. Additional special displays will spotlight the Ford GT’s, modern muscle from Chicago’s own Nickey Performance and the Vintage Certification program for unrestored originals. “We pride ourselves in presenting cars that are rarely, if ever shown that join us from across the country and Canada. Every year the show is new!” Ashton said. Being family friendly has always been a goal, and the MCACN team offers the younger enthusiasts a variety of activities. This includes a neat Youth Judging program, a scavenger hunt, the model car “make and take”, a coloring contest and more. And Kids 12 and under always get in free! Special Guests this year include Nascar Power Coupe Natalie Decker and Derek Lemke, TV and Movie star David Sullivan of Small Town Wisconsin, Flaked and so much more, Peter Brock, drag racer Bruce Larson and more. Of course, MCACN Title Sponsor Mecum Auctions will have a HUGE display, and you’ll be able to meet Dana, Frank and Chris Jacobs! This is just a tip of the iceberg, so check out the show website at www.mcacn.com for more information. Oh…and they have live music Saturday night, along with seminars and round table talks all weekend too. Of course, the Wicked Car Mag team will be set up, ready to check out all the great cars and to meet you. The show takes place Saturday, November 18, from 9 am – 8 pm, and Sunday, November 19, from 9 am – 5 pm at the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. Advance sale discount tickets are available now at www.mcacn.com and at several area outlets.

Preparing Your Car for Winter: Essential Maintenance Checklist Introduction: As the winter season approaches, it's crucial to ensure that your car is ready to handle the challenges that come with cold weather and icy road conditions. Taking the time to prepare your vehicle for winter can help prevent breakdowns, improve safety, and extend the lifespan of your car. In this article, we will provide you with an essential maintenance checklist to help you get your car winter-ready. 1. Check the Battery: Cold temperatures can significantly affect your car's battery performance. Start by inspecting the battery for any signs of corrosion or loose connections. If your battery is more than three years old, consider having it tested or replaced to avoid any unexpected breakdowns during winter. 2. Inspect the Tires: Proper tire maintenance is crucial for safe winter driving. Check the tire pressure regularly, as cold weather can cause tire pressure to drop. Ensure that your tires have sufficient tread depth to provide adequate traction on icy roads. Consider switching to winter tires for enhanced grip and control in snowy conditions. 3. Test the Heater and Defroster: A functioning heater and defroster are essential for maintaining visibility and comfort during winter. Test these systems to ensure they are working correctly. If you notice any issues, have them repaired or serviced before the cold weather sets in. 4. Check the Antifreeze and Coolant Levels: Antifreeze and coolant play a vital role in preventing your engine from freezing. Check the levels and ensure they are at the recommended levels. If necessary, top them up or have them flushed and replaced. 5. Inspect the Wipers and Washer Fluid: Visibility is crucial during winter, so make sure your wiper blades are in good condition and effectively clearing your windshield. Replace any worn-out blades. Additionally, ensure that your washer fluid reservoir is filled with a winter-grade solution that won't freeze in low temperatures. 6. Test the Lights: Properly functioning lights are essential for safe winter driving, especially during low visibility conditions. Check all exterior lights, including headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals. Replace any burnt-out bulbs. 7. Check the Oil and Filters: Cold weather can affect the performance of your engine oil. Consider switching to a winter-grade oil that flows better in low temperatures. Additionally, check and replace the oil filter and air filter if necessary. 8. Prepare an Emergency Kit: In case of any unforeseen circumstances or breakdowns during winter, it's essential to have an emergency kit in your car. Include items such as a flashlight, extra warm clothing, blankets, a first aid kit, jumper cables, a shovel, and non-perishable snacks. Conclusion: By following this essential maintenance checklist, you can ensure that your car is prepared to handle the challenges of winter. Taking the time to properly maintain your vehicle will not only improve safety but also save you from potential breakdowns and costly repairs. Stay proactive and enjoy a worry-free winter driving experience.

Winterizing Your Classic Car: Essential Tips for Preservation Introduction: Classic cars hold a special place in the hearts of their owners, and proper winterization is crucial to preserve their beauty and functionality. As the winter season approaches, it's important to take the necessary steps to protect your classic car from the harsh elements. In this article, we will provide you with essential tips on how to winterize your classic car and ensure its longevity. 1. Clean and Protect: Before storing your classic car for the winter, give it a thorough cleaning to remove any dirt, grime, or salt residue that may have accumulated. Wash the exterior, including the undercarriage, and apply a protective wax or sealant to shield the paint from moisture and corrosion. 2. Fluids and Fuel: Change the oil and filter before storing your classic car for an extended period. Old oil can contain contaminants that can damage the engine over time. Additionally, consider adding a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank to prevent the fuel from deteriorating and causing issues when you start the car again. 3. Battery Maintenance: Disconnect the battery or use a battery maintainer to prevent it from draining during the winter months. Cold temperatures can significantly affect battery performance, so it's essential to keep it charged and in good condition. Store the battery in a cool, dry place to avoid extreme temperature fluctuations. 4. Tire Care: Proper tire care is crucial for preserving your classic car's tires during the winter. Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure and consider using tire cradles or jacks to relieve pressure on the tires. This helps prevent flat spots from forming during long periods of inactivity. If possible, store the car on jack stands to further protect the tires. 5. Climate-Controlled Storage: Ideally, store your classic car in a climate-controlled environment to protect it from extreme temperature fluctuations and humidity. If a climate-controlled storage facility is not available, consider using a car cover specifically designed for indoor use to shield your car from dust and moisture. 6. Pest Prevention: To prevent pests from making a home in your classic car during the winter, take measures to deter them. Place mothballs or cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil in the interior and engine bay to repel rodents. Additionally, seal any openings or gaps where pests may enter. 7. Regular Checkups: Even when your classic car is in storage, it's important to periodically check on it. Visit your storage location and inspect the car for any signs of damage, leaks, or pest activity. Start the engine occasionally to keep it lubricated and prevent seals from drying out. Conclusion: Winterizing your classic car is essential to preserve its beauty and functionality for years to come. By following these essential tips, you can protect your beloved vehicle from the harsh winter elements and ensure its longevity. Take the time to properly prepare and store your classic car, and you'll be rewarded with many more years of enjoyment and admiration.

CAMARO The Chevrolet Camaro is a classic American muscle car that has a rich history dating back to its introduction in 1966. Here is a brief overview of the Camaro's history: 1. First Generation (1966-1969): The Camaro was introduced as a direct competitor to the Ford Mustang. It was available in various body styles, including coupe and convertible, and offered a range of engines and trims. The first-generation Camaro became an instant hit among car enthusiasts.

2. Second Generation (1970-1981): The second-generation Camaro featured a more streamlined design and was larger than its predecessor. However, due to the oil crisis and tightening emission regulations, the performance of the Camaro was affected during this era. 3. Third Generation (1982-1992): The third-generation Camaro underwent a major redesign, adopting a more aerodynamic and modern look. It also introduced fuel injection technology and improved handling. The Camaro Z28 became popular during this period. 4. Fourth Generation (1993-2002): The fourth-generation Camaro received another redesign, featuring a more rounded and sleek appearance. It offered improved performance, handling, and safety features. The Camaro SS and Z28 models gained popularity during this era. 5. Hiatus (2003-2009): Chevrolet discontinued the Camaro after the 2002 model year due to declining sales and changing market preferences. However, the Camaro remained a beloved icon among car enthusiasts. 6. Fifth Generation (2010-2015): The Camaro made a triumphant return in 2010 with a retro-inspired design that paid homage to the first-generation models. It offered powerful engines, improved handling, and modern features. The fifth-generation Camaro received critical acclaim and became a sales success. 7. Sixth Generation (2016-present): The current-generation Camaro was introduced in 2016 with a more refined and aggressive design. It features advanced technology, lightweight construction, and a range of powerful engines. The sixth-generation Camaro continues to be a popular choice among muscle car enthusiasts. Throughout its history, the Camaro has been known for its performance, style, and iconic status in American automotive culture. It has also been featured in various movies, TV shows, and popular culture, further cementing its place in automotive history.
