ood morning, Mr. Hewitt,” 40 students said to Stephen Hewitt, principal at St. Richard School, 1826 Pollock St., during two sessions that spanned about two hours Jan. 6. While exchanging salutations is cus-
tomary for Hewitt, whose school enrolls 285 students, technology has been adding novelty to his pre-noon pleasantries since September. Through a philanthropic foundation’s financing of teleconferencing equipment, the Pennsport resident teaches higher-level mathematics to a quintet of fifth graders and another of sixth graders at his school plus 30 more learners from a
trio of Archdiocesan elementary schools. In what formerly served as the Marconi site’s library, Hewitt, who recently celebrated four years as principal, delivers lessons that Conshohocken’s Connelly Foundation developed with his input and suggestions from the Archdiocese of PhilSee MATH MATTERS page 9
