illiam Shakespeare noted in “Romeo and Juliet,” “Parting is such sweet sorrow.” Sunday, only three days after autumn has replaced summer, the 14th Annual Vendemmia Festival will address the sweet aspects of watching the new supplant the old. With a reputation as the region’s largest and oldest event dedicated to the art of home winemaking, the festival has solidified the Vendemmia Foundation’s quest to advance and preserve Italian culture and heritage. he 2008 Physical Activities Guidelines for Americans states ages 18 to 64 need at least 150 minutes of aerobic and muscle-strengthening exercise each week to improve their health. This Saturday, Katie Clark, 29, will have accumulated a week’s worth of exertion before many people have even gotten out of bed. The resident of the 300 block of Cross Street is one of 7,000 cyclists celebrating the 30th anniversary of Bike MS: City to Shore Ride. She will ride in honor of her mother, Barbara Clark, 60, who has battled multiple sclerosis for 15 years. A native of Drexel Hill, Clark settled in Pennsport last April. Her location places her within walking distance of 1 Reed St. — headquarters of the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She became familiar with the organization that assists 13,000 locals living with MS last winter, only a short time after deciding to participate in Saturday’s 75mile undertaking from Cherry Hill to Ocean City, N.J. Clark, a recreational cyclist whose longest trek has been 30 miles, is helping the chapter raise at least $5 million so it can hit the $50 million mark in total fundraising. To participate, she had to collect at least $300, ultimately setting a $1,000 goal. “I surpassed my original goal the first day,” Clark, who eclipsed $1,000 over the weekend, said.
