Q1) John, what is the mission of Zambelli Technology International (ZTI)?
A1) ZTI, along with its Technology Partners , provides State-of-the-Art solutions and opportunities in the International Marketplace to Chinese and American companies in a cost-effective manner. ZTI specializes in the Energy Industry for Shale Gas ( Exploration to Completion ) and has offices in Pittsburgh, Pa. and Beijing, China. I have over 40 years of Manufacturing experience which included Executive level positions in US Steel with the responsibility to sell US Steel Technology to China and establish Executive Level relationships with the Chinese.
A2) To successfully do business in China, a physical presence is required. This not only includes an office but a Chinese staff to show commitment to the Market and a long term personal relationship. I have had the office in China for 10 years and have been going to China on a regular basis for 22 years.
Q3) What is the primary reason that caused you to work with the Chinese?
A3) The China market is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. Just the size of their population, over 1.3 billion people, and continuous growth rate of 7.5 to 10% per year provides tremendous opportunities in all industries. Once the Chinese know and trust you, they will work with you. Business Profile Zambelli Continued From Pg. 10 Government. The Energy Information Administration estimates that China's risked technically recoverable shale gas reserves are 1,115 trillion cubic feet, trailing only the United States.
Q4) How comfortable are you working with the Chinese?
A4) I have excellent relationships with both Government and Private Chinese officials and I am trusted by them. Through these relationships, I have been successful in China and will continue to do business between American and Chinese companies. Many people are concerned that the Chinese will steal their Technology but they will not if it is adequately protected by people they trust.
Q5) Do you feel that there are opportunities for Pa small companies to do business in China?
A5) I believe there are excellent opportunities in China for Pa companies that have Technology, IP, and Services in the Shale Gas industry. The Chinese are behind in this industry and need the Technology to catch up. They do not have the time to develop it themselves which is their normal approach.
Pa has become a world leader in this area due to the Marcellus Shale and the Chinese will respect that. The Chinese Government allocates the land to companies to do Oil and Gas exploration and drilling. The major Government owned ones are SINOPEC , CNPC ( Petrochina) ,CNOOC and Shaanxi Yanchang oil company. To provide competitiveness and faster growth in the industry, the Government auctioned off blocks of land to other Private and Government owned Energy companies. At the end of 2012, 19 blocks of land were auctioned to newly formed Energy companies. These companies have the exclusive right to explore and drill on this land. For that right, they had to commit to the Government to explore and drill and put up money to do it Most of these companies have never drilled a Shale Gas well and therefore need the Technology and Expertise from foreign companies. They are under very high pressure from the Chinese Government to drill and produce gas. Ten more blocks of land will be auctioned off this year. The Chinese Government has set its official target to produce 6.5 billion cu m/year (628,600 Mcf/day) of shale gas by 2015. They need to move very fast to reach this target. Q&A with your new PA State Senator
Camera Bartolotta You may have heard that our newly elected state senator for the 46th district of Pennsylvania, Camera Bartolotta, has opened an office in Southpointe, moving her a step closer in showing her dedication to being active with the people she represents. Don Hodor, Executive Director of the Southpointe Chamber recently sat down with Camera for a quick Q&A so we can learn more about her on a personal level. Don: What did you do before running for office? Camera: My late husband and I built the ‘Duke of Oil’ in Monongahela in 1988. It was the first
drive thru quick lube the Mon Valley had ever seen. We are still in business today.
Don: I originally bumped into you at the Washington Airport after returning from a flight. I
learned you are a private airplane pilot. What compelled you to obtain a private pilot license? Camera: Since I was very young, I always wanted to be a pilot. What really prompted me the most is when my husband (Bruce Bartolotta) passed away at the age of 55, with his long unattained bucket list. I learned then that life was very short and decided to get my pilot’s license. I had friends who were pilots and decided to buy a Cirrus SR20 and begin the training process. I took my solo after two weeks and didn’t look back. My son actually worked to receive his license before graduating from high school. He also flies the Cirrus. Don: Can you tell us a little about your other hobbies? Camera: My family has been making homemade wine for over 20 years. The first year we made wine, there were five
generations of my husband’s family represented in the wine cellar with us. I am still making wine and have a new vintage of Merlot – Valdespino, which is dry and full-bodied red wine. The grapes are trucked from Napa and Sonoma valleys. My favorite wines are reds, especially Argentinean and Chilean Malbec, and almost any Italian red. Don: I understand you also do some gardening. Why gardening? Camera: Because I love to work in the garden and cook with what I grow. Last year, I put in a 4200 sq. ft. garden in the
back yard. It’s ready for this spring’s planting. I grew up in Los Angeles and remember all of the wonderful dishes with beautiful fresh produce so I plant many varieties of tomatoes, greens and herbs, among other things. Don: Fill us in about your family. Camera: My daughter, Devin, is 23 and produces and anchors the news on KTTC
TV in Rochester, MN. She graduated from Ohio University in 2013 as a broadcast major. Four months into her job, she won first place at the Associated Press Award, and was nominated for three Emmys. She also has a background in professional photography. My son, Dante, is 20 and attends Valley Forge Military College. He is majoring in business and will work the family supermarket business upon graduation. Before graduating from high school, he earned his pilot’s license as mentioned earlier and is certified as a Master Scuba Diver. Dante graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in 2013 as the highest ranking officer of the school and won many leadership awards. Southpointe Chamber Acquires Handicap Van In an unusual twist on chamber services, the Southpointe Marcellus Chamber has purchased a handicap van for wheelchair passengers. This van has a hydraulic lift with raised roof and extended cab making it ideal for easy access and transport of wheel chair bound member needing help. This van will be available to chamber members on a scheduled program. “For now, we are limiting the use to members who are wanting to take immediate family on trips to the mall, movies, and events. Later we will consider opening the use to medical trips pending insurance requirements.” stated Rita Yunker, Sales agent for the chamber. More details to follow.

Southpointe Telecom Installs Satellite Links to Well Sites
Pictured above is the Network Operation Center (NOC) Southpointe Telecom Technology enters into a new partnership with SATCOM Digital Networks (SDN) that will greatly impact communications with remote shale well sites as well as corporate offices. “This satellite system will enable us to place a portable satellite antenna onto the well site and quickly link to the SATCOM Digital satellite. The signal will be beamed back to the Cranberry Twp., PA based communication hub where it can be sent to any internet and telephone network in North America and beyond. We will connect data, voice and video channels at a moderate to high speed”, said Don Hodor, Telecom engineer for Southpointe Telecom. David Chisholm, President and CEO, SDN stated, “We all know that the biggest problem with communications is working with well sites that are located outside the internet, cellular, telephone land line areas”. With SDN’s Digistar VSAT platform, the speed for the uplink/downlink is a best in class 5 meg. download and 1.5 meg. upload – plenty of
bandwidth for typical data transfer, e-mail, fax and telephone calls. The circuits are prioritized so that higher echelon information such as voice calls take precedence over other traffic. Included in the build out are ready made packages for office phones, CCTV cameras, Internet connections and security applications. A satellite dish has been installed at our Southpointe Telecom Technology office to complete the communication chain to Southpointe corporate offices. Added Don Hodor, “This partnership brings our IP office phones, internet gateways, CCTV cameras and teleconference to the satellite linkup making our partnership a ‘turnkey’ solution to well site operators”. In addition Southpointe Telecom has a dealership for ICOM two way radios which are now internet based. The Southpointe Marcellus Shale Chamber Celebrates 22 Years We will be kicking off 2015 with a celebration of 22 years as a Chamber in Southpointe. When Don Hodor moved to Southpointe in 1993, he realized the growth potential and made the decision to start a Chamber that focused on Southpointe businesses. “At the time, no networking organizations were really active in the Southpointe area, “ states Mr. Hodor. “Only a few businesses opened and the opportunity to ‘plant a seed’ early on wasn’t realized by other organizations.” The Chamber’s mission was to focus on this small 600-acre area with corporate offices springing up yearly. What was already an excellent plan put together by Senator Barry Stout, Congressman Frank Mascara and entrepreneur Jack Piatt turned up with serendipity of successful events. The park was growing at a steady pace with companies finding a home between golf fairways, waterfalls, lakes and parks. Being 17 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh International Airport added a plus to an already great plan. The Chamber has grown beyond the park with members from all over Eastern United States and beyond. With over 600 members, 6,000
subscribers and 30,000 magazine readers, many come to events and look forward to reading articles in the magazine and on the website.
Facts about the Chamber • The Southpointe Marcellus Shale Chamber is on its 22nd year in 2015. • 80% of the original Chamber Board members are still active to date. None of our Board Members, officers, or staff draw an income from the Chamber. • The Chamber’s original name is Southpointe Chamber, and was changed to Southpointe Marcellus Shale Chamber in 2007 (seven years ago) to capitalize on the growing shale industry. • The Chamber is listed and recognized with the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce as well as the Pennsylvania Association of Non-profit Organizations (PANO). • The Chamber now has a 501(c) non-profit status and still maintains the profit corporate side as well. The opportunity to become a 501(c) 6 is being considered. • The PA State governor’s office sends representatives to the chamber several times each year to speak at our events and help coordinate our international initiatives. Likewise, the SBA actively works with our organization.

Frank “Skip” Ludwin Frank “Skip” Ludwin, 81, of Venice, died Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Canonsburg Hospital. As Cecil Township supervisor, He attended most of our Southpointe Chamber events. Our chamber worked with Frank and other supervisors on the promotion of the Montour Trail Connector that would link Southpointe to the state wide bike and jogging trail. We will miss Frank’s support and enthusiasm.

Southpointe ‘Glass Wall Museum’ Depicts Long History of Site Published Oct 22, 2014 Written by Michael Bradwell Business Editor Observer Reporter Anyone in the area’s business community recognizes Southpointe as a highly successful business park that serves as the center for the region’s booming Marcellus Shale natural gas extraction industry that’s leading the U.S. energy revolution. But Fred Perrotta wants to remind people the 825 acres of Southpointe has a history that dates to the late 1700s, when it was the home and farm of a veteran of the American Revolution. On Wednesday, Perrotta showed off the Glass Wall Museum inside Southpointe’s Iceoplex, an illustrated timeline of the property that originally was the home of Col. George Morgan. The 18-month project, which Perrotta, of Oakdale, described as “a labor of love” from numerous sponsors, an advertising agency and a graphic design firm, gives a sweeping view of a highly historic property. The wall, which stretches across exterior glass panels of a room in the southern end of the Iceoplex, depicts the property’s history in illustrations, portraits and photographs beginning with Morgan’s 1796 farm known as “Morganza.” It follows with the property’s division into smaller farms and its 1873 transition into a Pennsylvania reform school, also referred to as Morganza, its later incarnation as Western State School and Hospital and a panoramic photo of the final construction of the Southpointe II business park and accompanying Town Center. Perrotta, 77, said the culmination of the project is his “last hurrah” in noting Southpointe’s long, pre-commercial and institutional history. Several years ago, he pitched the idea of a Western Pennsylvania Cultural Center to be based in the park, which died for inability to receive funding. He also headed an effort to save the

former Western Center administration building, but was trumped by the timeline for Mylan Inc. to build its new world headquarters on the site. But on the new Glass Wall Museum, Perrotta declared success. “The third time’s a charm,” said Perrotta, an engineer who is semi-retired, working as a consultant for McKamish, whose Pittsburgh office provides contracting and project management services for the power and industrial markets. Perrotta, who declined to provide the cost for the wall, credited a number of people and companies that sponsored the project, including Consol Energy, which recommended its advertising agency, Pittsburgh-based Brunner Works, to complete the design of the wall. The historical information was researched and compiled by Washington County Historical Society Executive Director Clay Kilgore. The installation of the Glass Wall Museum was completed by imaging and graphics company Printscape. In addition to Consol, sponsors also included Beaconsfield Financial Services, Bella Sera, Burns & Scalo Real Estate, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Iceoplex and the Washington County Historical Society.

Niagara Trade Mission Visits Southpointe The Niagara Trade Mission came to visit Pittsburgh and Southpointe on November 12-13, 2014. Over 30 delegates from Canadian businesses in the Niagara Falls area came to the event held at the Sheraton Hotel in Station Square. The event featured Canadian and Pittsburgh based businesses to network and learn from each other with regard to fostering trade initiatives from both areas. Highlights of the event include presentations from prominent business and government leaders from both Niagara Falls and Pittsburgh, with a visit from Mayor Bill Peduto. The first day of the event was sponsored by PNC. The second day of the event had the Canadian delegates visit Southpointe to network with business and government leaders from the area. The Southpointe Chamber of Commerce sponsored the mixer. Senator Camera Bartolotta also attended the event. Overall, it was an effective exchange of leads and ideas to promote businesses from both areas. Many doors were opened and introductions were made. Both parties are eager to move forward with activities in the

future, including the February 26 Trade Show at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe. SUV SALES EXPECTED TO INCREASE At Three Rivers VW, we are seeing a trend with walk-in lookers. Texans are apprehensive about driving in snow. They have either never seen it or navigated through it. The biggest growth area is people coming from southern, milder climate states, who want to drive safely, with reliable vehicles in weather they have neither seen nor
experienced. Most shale energy vehicles are 4WD truck SUV’S but the family car is another story. Three questions that are often asked are: • What are winter tread tires? • Are they effective? • What are the advantages of 4WD in snow? We find the best compromise for comfort, security and control on icy roads are all wheel drive vehicles. So…if you are looking for room plus high visibility, an SUV is your best option.
One of the largest complaints from southern migrants is the significant drop in gas mileage on all vehicles because of the steep hills, sharp turns and uneven terrain – a far cry from the straight, flat, well-paved highways in Texas. Coupled with this is the pre-heating of vehicles before jumping in for a ride. For the moderate to severe Northern winters, a 4WD/AWD SUV is a must for transportation. With the advancement of new technologies coupled with high market demand, AWD vehicles are an expense of the past. The average cost of $1500-$3000 resale value often offsets the upfront cost. SUV’s generally have larger tires which are a good defense against potholes. There are currently five models of AWD vehicles in the Volkswagen line-up: the Tiguan, the Passat, the Golf, the Touareg, and the Executive Sedan CC.
