Vehicle leaves roadway with tragic results

KINGSVILLE — A tragic motor vehicle crash in Kingsville has claimed the life of a 69-year-old wife, mother and grandmother.

Evelyn Greenwood was in the front yard of her home on Labour Day, September 6, when she was struck and killed by a vehicle that left the roadway on Heritage Road, west of town.

Evelyn Greenwood was born in Leamington and was involved in many community groups, including volunteering with the Mennonite Church. She led an active lifestyle and, according to friends and neighbours, enjoyed spending time gardening and always had a smile on her face.

The crash occurred around noon and OPP had Heritage Road closed for about five hours while they investigated. The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing and the police ask anyone with any further information to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
