SPSCC Percival Choir and SPSCC Chamber Singers
The SPSCC Percival Choir and the SPSCC Chamber Singers come together each quarter for an eclectic evening of vocal performance. Choral concerts feature music from a diverse range of cultures and time periods, holiday and seasonal favorites, as well as major works by classical composers.

SPSCC Symphony Orchestra
The SPSCC Symphony Orchestra is an auditioned performing group open to SPSCC students and members of the community. The orchestra is conducted by SPSCC music professor Cameron May and has developed a reputation for its world-class musical performances.
Performances are held at the end of every quarter in the beautiful and acoustically rewarding Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.

From re-imagined classics to cutting edge new plays and musicals, the SPSCC Theatre Collective brings daring, enchanting, and provocative performances to the beautiful Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage and intimate Black Box Theatre. Each quarter’s production engages students, community artists, and audiences in the excitement of the live theatrical experience.

Hale Ekinci – Compound Subjects

Untitled Ellis Island, Solvent photo transfer, acrylic paint, embroidery thread, sequins, yarn crochet on found bedsheet, 2021, 40”x 60”.
Collaging together fiber techniques, found textiles, and images from family archives, the exhibition explores phases of acculturation, immigrant identity, and ideas about gendered labor. My decorative fringes are influenced by the Middle Eastern tradition of oya (lace edging on a headdress) and its use of symbolic patterns that serve as a secret language between women to express personal sentiments that must otherwise remain private. Adopting these methods of embellishment and encoding, I create adorned, intercultural portraits framed with oya on bedsheets.

This group exhibition examines domestic interior spaces occupied throughout the pandemic. Each artist presents a unique approach to reconciling shared pandemic experiences through modern technology and traditional materials. Aspects of confinement, repetitive domestic labor, isolation, and renewed hope are transmuted via Lidar Scanning technology and digital photographic print, records of GPS tracking etched into acrylic, and intimate reflections in oil on panel.

Native American Art Exhibition: A Weaver’s Choice - Coast Salish Wool Weavings Curated by Selena Kearney Nov. 7 – Dec. 9, 2022
Artist and Curator Selena Kearney, in collaboration with the Paimārire Studio on the Native Art Campus of The Evergreen State College, presents Coast Salish wool weavers and their processes. This exhibition highlights the stories and kinship embedded in the art form focused on strengthening bonds and helping others.

2023 Fine Art Postcard Exhibition
“From the Edge” Jan. 3 – Feb. 3, 2023
The Fine Art Postcard Exhibition is an annual event that brings the local creative community together under one theme. The 2023 theme is “From the Edge”. Postcard sized original artworks, created by artists of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, will be sold through silent auction. All are invited to join the creative celebration! Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit The Gallery.

A themed, dialogic exhibition where mentor and mentee pairs exhibit their work, exploring the affinities between their practices individually or collaboratively.

Award winning artists from the 2022 Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition, selected by juror Erin Dengerink, are invited back to show new work in this group exhibition. Participating artists include Sandra Bocas, Kyle Bradford, Allyson Essen, Becky Frehse, Becky Knold, Jennifer Lauer, and Charles Pitz.

Collaboration Installation May 8 – May 12, 2023
SPSCC art students, led by a visiting artist, will participate in a multi-session workshop that culminates in an exhibition of the work in The Gallery. Students will experience all aspects of a collaborative project, including planning, production, installation, and presentation.

Student Art Exhibition
May 22– June 16, 2023
South Puget Sound Community College’s art faculty selects outstanding work created by students in studio art classes during the 202223 year. Works include ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, digital photography, mixed-media, 2D and 3D design exercises, and sculpture. A continuous slide show of student work is also included in the exhibition.
