How we do it
Recruiting and hiring
South Shore Furniture recognizes the value of diversity. That’s why South Shore Furniture has a recruitment and hiring process that is free of discrimination.
Welcome, integration and development of talents
South Shore Furniture promotes management practices that help maintain a professional work environment in which everyone feels respected and accepted as they are.
South Shore Furniture also ensures to make the necessary accommodations for the continued employment of team members with disabilities or of those who become disabled during their career with our organization to the point of undue hardship.
In order to achieve these goals, the cooperation of everyone is essential: implementing and maintaining a discrimination-free environment requires the participation of all members of the South Shore Furniture team.
To this end, management shall:
• Ensure that this policy is shared with its team members;
• Deal with requests for accommodation on an individual basis in a timely and confidential manner, subject to the disclosure requirements of the law;
• Include the person concerned, as well as their union, if applicable, in the process of finding a possible solution;
• Inform any person who states a need for accommodation resulting from their situation or condition of the information that they must provide to the employer in order to process the request;
• Propose and apply a possible accommodation measure to the point of undue hardship, based on the information obtained;
• Educate all staff on their respective responsibilities in implementing an accommodation request.
To this end, staff shall:
• Contribute responsibly to a work environment that respects the dignity of each person and welcomes differences;
• Behave with integrity, courtesy and respect towards colleagues and partners;
• Adopt a posture of openness in their work with colleagues and partners;
• When necessary, notify management in writing of the request for accommodation, specifying the situation or condition on which the request is based;
• Provide any information or document requested by management for the certification of their condition or situation and which is required to allow management to evaluate and develop a possible accommodation measure to the point of undue hardship, according to their situation;
• Cooperate and participate with management and, where applicable, with their union, in the process of seeking accommodation to the point of undue hardship.
Where applicable, the union shall:
• Cooperate in the process of seeking and, where applicable, implementing a possible accommodation to the point of undue hardship.
