For 19 years, the South Street Journal newspaper of Chicago has continued to break the news and influence the agenda to cover the city’s streets, neighborhoods and institutions beyond the news to advocacy in the stories printed. Its publisher and editor Ron Carter with 41 years of community organizing and roots has laid the foundation to be a member of Chicago’s City Council, Alderman representing the 17th Ward . From the elements of CHA Robert Taylor Homes, witness the same life crises of youth today, as a former gang member to an associate of the Black Panther Party continuing on his life role as a principle organizer and now Chairman of Black Wall Street—Chicago. Before establishing The South Street Journal, Mr. Carter business traits started at 12 years old as the number one paper sales boy for four years in a roll. He served three times as an Account Executive for The Chicago Defender working on community outreach with direction in editorial and promotions, which followed.
