Along the Rio Grande River sits one of the earliest ranch buildings in the state of Texas dating back to the 1700’s. The Spanish Land Grant it sits on remained in the same family until our family purchased it in the 1900’s and today it’s known as Rancho San Jose de Los Corralitos. That ranch building is still in use today. Our cattle and horses have worn the ‘bar nothing’ brand for more than a century — it’s more than a sign of ownership, it’s a legacy symbol of quality, integrity, and innovation.

So, when we started South Texas Tack in 2003, it only made sense that our western retail store also bears our bar nothing brand. To us, that brand means quality. It means trust.

South Texas Tack, the store, was born of our ranching life and heritage. We sought out to be the best and highest quality supplier of tack and western lifestyle goods in Texas. Today, South Texas Tack serves ranchers, horsemen and women, and western enthusiasts worldwide through our online store and mail order catalog. For us, it’s a commitment to serve the people and industries that have supported our family for generations. And just like all ranchers do, when we put the South Texas Tack brand on a product in the store, that item has to be worthy of the brand. Every product has to meet the same high standards we set for our cattle and horses.

We hire experienced horsemen and equine enthusiasts to provide more than a great retail experience, but the wisdom to go along with the products. In late 2019, the Bar Nothing Bar was born. The bar is the first of its kind in retail, offering a unique shopping experience with a little hospitality. Enjoying a glass of wine or a soda while you shop takes the shopping atmosphere to the next level.

The Bar Nothing Bar is nestled in the far West side of the building, next to the hat department, where the outside courtyard can be easily accessed. The lounge area that accompanies the bar can seat up to fifty people and the courtyard is unlimited.

While the bar favorite is the Wine-a-Rita, South Texas Tack introduced much more than that. The Bar Nothing Bar offers a variety of beer, wine, Wine-ARita’s, slushes and Starbucks coffees so that there is something for every age group to enjoy. The local Texas wine selection can be noted as one of the best in Washington County with a selection of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Pinot and dessert wines. The Bar Nothing Bar partners with local wineries for scheduled wine tastings throughout the year. All wine tastings are open to the public and groups of any size are welcome.

At the South Texas Tack Saddle Shop customers now have the ability to have their horse fitted, design their saddle and watch it come to life in one location at our custom saddle shop in Brenham, Texas.
