“Everyone at Southwestern—students, staff, faculty, alumni—is accessible. No matter where I go on campus I see a friendly face. I’m unsure what I’ll do after graduation, but I know that whatever I decide, I’ll be well prepared. Scholarships have enabled me to accomplish and experience more than I ever could have imagined. Without them, I never would have left New Mexico.”
Over the past five years, the financial need demonstrated by students and their families has increased by $10 million.

“What don’t I love about SU? My Living Learning Community, the friendly nature of everyone on campus, intramural sports…this is the experience of a lifetime! I’m from out of state and the child of a single parent; if not for my scholarship, I wouldn’t be here. I plan to attend graduate school and then law school after graduation.”
On average, students now need to secure more than $11,000 annually, often through additional loans.
Erin Bradley ’14 Hometown: Cameron, Texas Business major • Delta Delta Delta Vice President, Student Congress Secretary, Student Foundation, Society of Young Women Leaders • •
“I have formed so many meaningful and beneficial relationships with students, faculty, staff… Southwestern truly feels like home. I am so thankful for my scholarships, because I know that SU is the right place for me. I think the best way to show appreciation to the donor who made my scholarship possible is to apply myself in classes and be involved on campus. My goal is to give back in the future to help make it possible for another student to attend Southwestern.”
One-fourth of our students have been affected by cuts to federal and state loan programs.
Colin Berr ’13 Hometown: Sacramento, Calif. International Studies major, Business minor • Student Congress, Men’s Soccer, Student Foundation, Megaphone • •
“Everyone here is so supportive, especially the amazing faculty. I am confident that after graduation I will fulfill my goals of joining the foreign service, becoming a writer, and /or starting my own business. If I could show my appreciation to the donor(s) who made my scholarship possible, I would like to meet them in person and share my Southwestern Experience.”

IF NOT for need-based financial assistance, twothirds of Southwestern desks would remain empty. Combined with merit-based aid, more than 90 percent of Southwestern students receive financial assistance. At Southwestern, students receive a top-notch liberal arts education, which includes numerous opportunities that enhance the classroom experience—study abroad, varsity and intramural athletics, civic engagement, Greek life, student government and much, much more. However, it has become increasingly difficult for the University to assist qualified students, even though Southwestern has more than doubled the amount of need-based financial assistance it offers to students ($6.5 million) over the past five years. We must find ways to close the ever-growing gap, and we’re asking for your help. These stories are just a few examples of how and why Every Gift Matters! Please make your donation today.

exponential need, exponential impact. Over the past five years, Southwestern has more than doubled the amount of need-based financial aid it offers to students ($6.5 million). Unfortunately, the demonstrated financial need of students and their families has increased by $10 million. We hope you are able to help Southwestern close the gap between student need and what the University can provide. The return on an investment in a Southwestern student can be exponential.
