Few things in the world feel quite as satisfying as being able to say those three little words... ‘I made this ’

Whether it’ s a delectable winter warmer straight from the oven, cool cra that belongs on the wall or an eye-catching addition to your garden, the sense of satisfaction that comes from creating things with your hands is unmatched.

It’ s a feeling we ’ ve embraced wholeheartedly this issue, from the kitchen and laundry to the garden and great outdoors. It’ s just a ma er of deciding where to start!

In our kitchen update special (from page 28), we share the latest in trends, must-haves and designer looks, and guide you through projects big and small, from whipping up a lazy susan spice rack to installing a custom window. The laundry gets a redo too, including underbench storage and an easy benchtop makeover (page 54).

Elsewhere you can give an empty jar new life as a sewing kit or mini succulent garden (page 150), make your own raffia or twig mirror (page 156), install a tinkling fountain in the garden (page 118), terrace a sloped block in big, boulder-ful style (page 126)… the list goes on. Hope you ’ ve got some weekends free to do it all.

With all of this activity needing fuelling, it’ s versatile mince to the rescue (page 74), from pasta nests and gourmet rissoles to a tasty take on apricot chicken. Fast Ed (page 84) also dishes up decadent delights, including a pudding that’ s the very definition of ‘it tastes be er than it looks ’ (page 86). So easy and so yum!
