MELBOURNE Melbourne is the region’s premier entertainment and shopping destination. Up and down the streets of Historic Downtown Melbourne you’ll find a number of restaurants, lounges and shops that sell clothes, jewelry, art supplies and much more. The Eau Gallie Arts District boasts multiple art galleries from the masterful collage portraits at the Derek Gores Gallery to the Foosaner Art Museum, which many consider to be the pulse of arts and culture in the area with more than a dozen active galleries. The Historic Rossetter House

Museum & Gardens is also in the Eau Gallie Arts District where visitors can take historical tours daily, as well as ghost tours in the fall. More than 650 animals represent 165 species at the Brevard Zoo. Guests have the opportunity to see animal residents up-close, and the Treetop Trek Aerial Adventures at the zoo is an exciting obstacle course and zip-line attraction. Discover Florida’s Space Coast’s stunning wetlands and natural beauty

by zipping across waterways filled with native wildlife in an airboat from Camp Holly Fishing & Airboats, or take a ride with Good Natured River Tours to observe the estuaries filled with bottlenose dolphins and wild birds. Two institutions of higher learning, Eastern Florida State College’s Melbourne Campus and Florida Institute of Technology, as well as many high-technology companies, are located here, composing a mini Silicon Valley.

THE BEACHES Enjoy the sunshine on 33 miles of serene beaches by daylight or take a romantic moonlit walk while enjoying an evening’s tropical breeze. Melbourne’s beaches are perfect for sunbathing, surfing, riding fat-tired bikes, or just a place for your family to enjoy the sand and serenity with plenty of elbow room. Collectively, Melbourne’s beaches include the beachside towns of Melbourne Beach, Indialantic, Indian Harbour Beach, and Satellite Beach. Ocean Park and Spessard Holland Beach Park are popular surf breaks and fishing spots for surf fishermen. Many locals say that Juan Ponce de Leon (credited with discovering Florida) actually landed first in Melbourne Beach before moving north up the coast to St. Augustine. Stop at Ponce de Leon Park and snap a selfie with the life-size statue there. The only state park along Florida's Space Coast is Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area. This park is south of Melbourne’s beaches and straddles the inlet with access on both the north and south sides. It’s one of the mostpopular parks in the entire state system because of the excellent fishing access and the consistent surf break at First Peak. The tidal pool is a great place for little ones to get into the very calm waters protected by a rock jetty, and it’s not unusual to see manatees and dolphins gliding by. The campground is on the south side along with a boat ramp and the Sebastian Fishing Museum. Sebastian Inlet is also home to the Florida Pro Surf Competition, a top-level professional surfing event. Perfect Snapchat Spots Along Florida’s Space Coast When vacationing on Florida’s Space Coast, you’re bound to take a million photos and share them with friends and family on social media. Why not string a few pictures together, mix in a video, and create a story to send to them? Here are a few spots that make great locations for a Snapchat or Instagram story:

1.

Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier: The pier presents a classic Space Coast image. There’s surf action every day and restaurants nearby so you can eat and catch the sunrise (or sunset) on the beach. There are also things to keep you busy all day, like volleyball or an electric skateboard rental that you can ride around on the beach.

2.

Ron Jon Surf Shop: You can’t come to Cocoa Beach and not stop at Ron Jon Surf Shop! Inside, you’ll find every beach-related item imaginable. From boogie boards and swimsuits to beach chairs and everyday clothing, this store has everything you need for your beach vacation. Not to mention, it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Also, you can learn about the history of surf at the Florida Surf Museum next door, and you can even sign up for a surf lesson from some of the best instructors around. Outside, you can find statues made to commemorate surfing legends and Ron Jon’s past. These make for great photo opportunities.

3.

Exploration Tower: In the heart of Port Canaveral lies the architectural marvel Exploration Tower. The best photos are captured either of the Tower glowing in the darkness of night or from one of the Tower's balconies, where you can take pics of the surrounding area.

4.

Zip Line at Treetop Trek Aerial Adventure: At this elevated obstacle course and zip-line at Brevard Zoo, you’ll have the opportunity to see animal residents and exhibits, providing plenty of social sharing opportunities. Give your friends a case of serious FOMO (fear of missing out) and send a quick snap of yourself zip-lining over the alligator pit.

5.

Sebastian Inlet State Park: See breathtaking sights in all directions, including infamous Monster Hole, atop the Sebastian Inlet Bridge. Spend some time at this amazing state park and set your lens toward the curving concrete pier that is full of character 24/7. World-class surf photography is a staple here, as well.

All of that should fill up your chip, film canister, phone, or give you a book’s worth of Polaroids. Florida’s Space Coast can indeed come home with you, and you’ll be glad it did. Explore more by visiting VisitSpaceCoast.com/things-to-do.

The Titusville area at the north end of Florida’s Space Coast is the only place on the planet where rockets blast off, sea turtles nest, and soothing sunrises give way to inviting surf. The contrast of high-tech wonders of the space program and the natural beauty of the area places Titusville in a class by itself. Bordering the Indian River Lagoon, Titusville is a gateway to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, the Canaveral National Seashore and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

CONNECTING SPACE AND EARTH Be sure to visit Space View Park and the American Space Museum and Walk of Fame, with its bronze handprints of the Mercury 7 astronauts, and monuments to the Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. The museum houses amazing artifacts not seen anywhere else, and is staffed by volunteer docents who worked behind the scenes on America’s spaceflight missions. They love to tell stories of the early days on space exploration.

Kennedy Space Center is where astronauts blasted off in rocket ships and traveled more than 238,000 miles to the moon and back. This is the home of the men and women who dared to attempt the impossible and the geniuses who made it happen. And it is where rockets still roar into orbit. That’s why they call this the Space Coast. During your visit to Kennedy Space Center, you can strap in and launch as part of one of the most-realistic spaceflight simulators in the world or immerse your imagination inside the immense IMAX Theater experience. And that’s just the beginning! Get up close to Space Shuttle Atlantis in a remarkable display that puts you so close you can actually see the space dust on its nose. Meet astronauts. Take a bus tour, relive the excitement of the Apollo era, and much more!

Canaveral National Seashore

Historic Downtown Titusville

GATEWAY TO NATURE You’ll love visiting this city with its many riverfront parks, fantastic fresh and saltwater fishing, year-round golf, kayak rentals, and animals and plants that are found nowhere else on earth. Right across the Indian River Lagoon sits the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with more threatened and endangered species than all other Florida refuges combined. Winter is prime bird-watching time with over 300 species spotted, but any time of year will reward visitors with views of alligators, deer, manatees and more. The boundaries of Kennedy Space Center and the wildlife refuge are the same, but NASA only uses approximately 8 percent of the 220 square miles, leaving the remaining natural wetlands, scrub and hammock habitats for exploration. Driving trails, hiking trails and boat ramps give easy access to off-thebeaten-path locales.

Canaveral National Seashore is the last undeveloped stretch of beach on the East Coast. It runs 23 miles from Titusville to New Smyrna Beach, with Playalinda Beach as the southern access. These beaches are some of the prime rocket launch viewing sites for daytime launches. Canaveral National Seashore closes from sunset to sunrise, so seeing night launches from here is not allowed, but during the day, you’ll be very surprised how close you can get to the launch pads. Florida's Coast-to-Coast Trail, better known as the C2C, utilizes the East Central Regional Rail Trail alignment and will give users access to small towns, flowing springs, state parks, museums, and beaches along the way. Once completed, the C2C will stretch from the Gulf of Mexico in Pinellas County through Central Florida to Downtown Titusville, eventually terminating at the Atlantic Ocean and the Canaveral National Seashore. This multi-use trail corridor will eventually connect with two other regional trail systems – the East Coast Greenway and the St. Johns River to Sea Loop – all converging in Downtown Titusville.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE Titusville entices vacationers of all ages with activities including rocket launches, bird-watching, and thrilling airboat rides. This area is also home to five museums that honor the notable achievements of many, as well as the rich history of Florida’s Space Coast. Historic Downtown Titusville offers shops of all sorts including an art gallery, clothing and gift shops, charming restaurants, antique stores and the Titusville Playhouse at the Historic Emma Parrish Theater. The community has become a mustsee for visitors to Florida’s Space Coast, thanks to its sports venues, shopping, bird-watching and the world-class Brevard Zoo.

The Brevard Zoo is also located in Viera and is the only zoo in the United States to offer guided kayaking tours around the animal exhibits. Feed a giraffe or a lorikeet; get up close to lemurs on Lemur Island or zip across zip lines at Treetop Trek. Turtle Creek Golf Club is home to a classic Florida-style course, as well as Smash Golf, an exciting new sport that combines golf and tennis.

There is always a great opportunity to take a selfie with the residents of Brevard Zoo!
