Like other colours even violet has its own negative effects like suppressed emotions, over sensitiveness and day dreaming if it is seen in negative shades. x. Make your patient wear violet if you want him to drop addictions or come out of a long misery, or pain. xi. Do not suggest your patient to wear violet if he is a day dreamer and does not like physical jobs, as it will create more lethargy and dreaminess in the patient. i. Determined to find the truth after a long research, I did the same meditation I did before my students could see my rainbow Aura and was amazed that the Vibgyor Aura showed up. iii. I tried to make my students go through the same meditation and see the result, but only a few who were regular in the meditation practice from a long time could achieve Vibgyor Aura. iv. By regular research I came to below conclusion for Vibgyor Aura and its owners. i. Vibgyor Aura is like seven stripes of Rainbow seen after four to five inches of white Aura around the head and the limbs. ii. Vibgyor colour Aura is not a permanent Aura. It appears only after meditation which is followed by physical exercise and if the person has a strict routine of proper diet and living. iii. Vibgyor Aura appears in a person who has practiced Asthang Yoga correctly that is, eight limbs of yoga which includes do's and don'ts, physical exercise, breathing exercise, concentration, deep concentration, losing ones identity and meditation. iv. Vibgyor Aura appears in a person who has supernatural powers (Siddhi) and uses them to help people. v. Vibgyor Aura can be lost if the person loses connection with the self. vi. Person having Vibgyor Aura has all his chakras active and has a chance to be enlightened in this life, or is already enlightened. Kundalini Awakening Protocols In the next few months we will publish the Kundalini protocols entitled The Safeties offered by Master Chrism. These protocols are based on a platform of love and service that support an emergent Kundalini candidate in all aspects of the process while living in the Western Society basically the how tos of survival. Below are the locks that are included in the safeties. TONGUE UP: This completes the cranial circuit allowing excess energy to bleed down the sides of the neck. Cultivate the position of the tip of the tongue resting on the fleshy mound right behind your upper front teeth. Make this a new habit. EYES UP: This is the position of looking towards the brow of points, one and a half inches above the bridge of the nose. Most comfortable when the eyes are closed. This will draw or pull the Kundalini upwards. Do this during meditation or when in rest do not use this lock while driving or performing any physical activity. FINGERS IN POSITION: This is the thumb tip and fore finger tips joined (pressed together) with the other fingers spread out wide. This is a finger lock. WATER: As the Kundalini rises it will stimulate and activate the kidneys and the adrenal glands. The adrenals and the kidneys can become hot. Really hot and feel as if they are expanding. The adrenals will release amounts of adrenachrome, or the bodies' version of speed. This can be very disconcerting, and can bring you to fear. So plenty of living water that is water that is from a spring or another source that isn't chlorinated or from the tap of a city, but if the city water is what you've got, drink it. Also plenty of watermelon if you can get it as this can be very soothing for the kidneys. GROUNDING: More energy, even Kundalini energy, isn't always the best answer. Many systems really focus on achieving the Kundalini activation and awakening without any regard to the enormous amounts of energetic potential r e l e a s e d i n t o t h e b o d y . Often the focus is strictly on practices that generate copious amounts of Chi energy in order to hopefully produce or kick start a Kundalini event. Chi Gung is this way when utilized for Kundalini expression. Inside of the Kundalini when we get over our heads into the energetic there are very few reliable remedies that will help us to alleviate the symptoms of energetic overload. Grounding is one such system that can

Kundalini Awakening Protocols - Master Chrism greatly relieve an overload of energy within the Kundalini context. When we eat we begin to ground ourselves by switching the focus of the body to an autonomic function; chewing, tasting, swallowing, digestion etc. This takes the ego mind and the intentional or unintentional focus off of the energetic waves of phenomena. What we are eating also has grounding applications. Meat is a very grounding nutrient. Sometimes the Kundalini will force you to eat meat for this purpose especially if you are overly addicted to energetic generative techniques. Fruits and veggies are less grounding though within that context the root veggies will be more grounding than the fruits and nuts. Juices of fruits are less grounding than juices of veggies and so forth. Having sex can do this but only outside of the Tantric model. The sex drive is another example of an autonomic system. Relieving one's self or aerobic physical exercise and hard work all serve to place the body into recognition of different systems of governance. The autonomic systems bring their agenda into the mix. Kundalini being an intelligent consciousness in its own right will recognize this and support this. No it will not leave or give into the person's ego controls and wishes but it will honour the sacred vessel as that vessel brings into expression the functions of physical body maintenance. Kundalini is there to change us not hurt us. It only gets hurtful when our ego's resist the agenda of transformation that the divine Kundalini brings. Grounding can really help that agenda as well as we are part Earth (Sacred Mother) and part Cosmos (Sacred Father). This brings the dual and non-dual into a single unit of expression within us. When we ground we anchor our energies into that balance. Subsequently some grounding techniques involve the soil. Getting into the dirt by working in the garden is an excellent grounding option. Or getting into the mud of the river or lake or pond or beach. Get into it and feel it and honour it. It isn't unclean. It is as natural as your body and it is that which makes up your body so honour this mud and soil as it is truly sacred tissue. Another method is to lean against a tree. Feel the roots that spread wide and go deep and feel yourself go into that connection with the earth. Sit against it and feel the depth and the patience and the different experience of time that a tree has to offer. This is another very good grounding technique. Walk

barefoot! Sounds simple but we as a society are overly fixated on not making contact with the bare earth. The human foot is designed more for earth contact than shoe contact. Observe the runners from Africa winning all those marathons running barefoot. So do this as best you can and as consistently as you can. Another grounding option is to be naked in the natural environment. That's right go nude into the forest or the desert or the jungle or the wilderness but be very careful not to be observed! Our society typically does not understand and great harm can come to those who are not careful in this regard! So if you do this then PLEASE be careful. This grounding process allows us to shed those coverings that we tend to use as societal identification. Also as facets of ego attachment. When we shed our clothes we shed far more than mere clothes. We shed our ego. And in this process do we free up far more inner space for the grounding of being natural in nature to be given. We have discussed these grounding options: Eating Sex Bodily relief functions Exercise Hard Work Gardening Soil Mud Trees Barefoot Naked in Nature These do not engage much in the way of technology. I have found that for myself, driving a car or truck is a grounding activity. Or taking care of the Bees (for me) or cleaning up around the trailer etc. So please experiment and find that hobby or activity that grounds you into the earth. It is the earth that we ground into not the cosmos. We ground into the ground so do those things that allow you to bleed off excess energy into the great Mother. Š Chrism 2011 **Next month we will discuss Food Choices, Eating Root vegetables and Movement. Chrism is a native of California residing in the city of Santa Rosa. He travels the country awakening the Kundalini in groups of people safely and with continued support throughout the many years of the Kundalini awakening experience. Blue Ocean Strategy and Spirituality What is Blue Ocean Strategy? Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne of INSEAD came up with the concept of Blue Ocean. The concept was formulated based on a study of 150 strategic moves spanning more than 100 years and over thirty different industries and it provides a systematic approach to make the competition irrelevant and create uncontested market space. The red ocean has a defined market, defined competitors and the traditional way of doing business by using offense strategies with competition and defending against competition at times. It is similar to an ocean infested with sharks which are fighting for the same prey. The blue ocean is calm and has lot of food with little competition. Some organizations which are known for creating blue ocean include, Southwest Airlines, Cirque du Soleil, Casella Wine, Nintendo (Wii), Cemex Cement, and The Body Shop How is Blue Ocean connected with Spirituality? Some principles which are common to both Blue Ocean and Spirituality include Both philosophies believe that all things are possible; the barriers exist in our mind. All paths are accepted as valid until disqualified by practical application or an open-minded attitude Both believe in trying out untried and unique approaches. In Blue Ocean it is unique approach to market, in spirituality it is the unique approach of surrender and detachment. Both talk of crossing the conventional boundaries. While spirituality talks of merging one's consciousness with supreme consciousness as the ultimate goal, Blue Ocean lists six conventional boundaries of competition (viz industry, strategic group, buyer group, scope of product or service offering, functional-emotional orientation of an industry and time.) which need to be crossed. Both believe in breaking the mental blocks. Blue Ocean Strategy is based on the premise that market boundaries and industry structure are very much alterable by our actions and beliefs. The market boundaries exist only in managers' minds; believers of Blue Ocean do not let existing market structures limit their decisions and thinking. A paradigm mental shift from supply to demand is required; our goals can be easily achieved through the creation of innovative value to unlock new demand. Spirituality encourages holistic living, maintaining a fine balance in different aspects of life with the planet. Blue ocean strategy integrates and aligns the three strategy propositions; value proposition, profit proposition and people proposition.

13

Both emphasize on fairness and ethics and respect the individual. Spirituality respects the individual soul while Blue Ocean's engagement principle of fair process communicates management's respect of individuals and their ideas. Though both talk of integration and holistic approach, yet both have a focus point which is of prime importance. In spirituality it is the soul and raising the level of consciousness is the prime goal. In Blue Ocean (tipping point leadership), leaders focuses on transforming the people, acts, and activities that exercise a disproportionate influence on performance. Spirituality transforms the soul and Blue Ocean changes the core to execute the strategy. Both talk of angelic and devilish forces. In Blue ocean strategy, devils are people who are likely to fight the execution of a Blue Ocean Strategy. Once identified, devils need to be isolated. Tipping point leaders build a group of supporters (angels) around them to discourage the detractors. Both talk of adoption hurdles. In Blue Ocean, adoption Hurdles are the forces that can block one from executing a Blue Ocean Strategy. These forces may come from employees, business partners, or even the general public. A spiritual seeker also faces hurdles of various kinds including family, relatives and general public. Both encourage addressing these fears before implementation which can be done by engaging in open discussion. Both encourage transparency. Blue Ocean uses fishbowl management, whereby the activities of the key influencers are made transparent for all to see, as fish in a fishbowl. It highlights both, who are lagging behind and those who are excelling. For fishbowl management to work, it must be based on transparency, inclusion, and fair process. Both talk of awakening and exploration. Visual Awakening / Visual Exploration / Visual Strategy Fair / Visual Communication are the four steps of the Blue Ocean Strategy methodology. Spirituality also talks of awakening, and travelling the path of exploration thereafter. Both talk of leaps in growth. While spirituality talks of leap in consciousness, Blue Ocean (Buyers Utility Map) talks of a leap in value to buyers. Both are based on radical concepts and can bring radical shifts and benefits. According to Blue Ocean, “One should stop benchmarking the competition. The more one benchmarks the competitor, the more one looks like them. Both are difficult to execute compared to other options. Here is Heaven Newsletter April 2011 Vol. 38 Spiritual message: Give love and receive love

Dr Sarah Layton, Corporate Strategy Institute highlights the six tenets of Blue Ocean viz. 1. Focus on existing customer versus focus on non-customer-In blue ocean strategy an attempt is made to attract customers who have never purchased rather than taking away competitors' customers. 2. Compete in existing markets versus create uncontested markets to serve-In blue ocean, no one is fighting with you for customers because either they don't know about it or don't know how to.

By now you are realizing that it would be worth your while to become comfortable with change. But believe me when I tell you that you don't have to. There is one constant you can cling to and that is love.

3. Beat the competition versus make the competition irrelevant-Blue ocean is about high value at low cost, which makes it very difficult for anyone to compete with you.

Love is above it all. It permeates the physical, yes. But it is in more than the physical. It is above, below, around, in and out, through and through. Love is the only constant. You say in this month of April, the only thing you have to do is die and pay taxes. I ask you now to think bigger.

4. Exploit existing demand versus capture new demand-The demand is created by the blue ocean strategist for example the Walkman created by Sony. 5. Make the value cost tradeoff versus break the value cost tradeoff- Kim and Mauborgne said that you can have high value and low cost and developed the tools to do it. In fact, unless you break the value cost tradeoff, competitors will easily duplicate what you are doing and the ocean will be red again.

The only thing you have to do dear one, is love. And it's not even something you have to seek out. It is there for the asking, the grabbing, and the sharing. It is all around you.

6. Align the organization with differentiation or low cost versus align the organization with differentiation and low cost-The blue ocean strategist must search every nook and corner of processes and organization to cut down unnecessary cost, in fact the entire organization has to be aligned this way.

Love is the only constant in the physical reality of change. Focus more on the constant of love than on the changes you see. Give love and receive love. Take notice of both this month. There are many

As one jumps deeper into the Blue Ocean, it seems clearly inspired by the principles of spirituality. Are you ready with your swim gear?

FLOWER POWER - Amy D. Cohen

April 2011

FLOWER POWER: FINDING LUST IN YOUR LIFE AND RELATIONSHIP AGAIN! Last month I wrote an article on the beauty of flower remedies and how they help to make you feel your best. How they take the negative feelings we harbor, hold or feel within this moment and bring you back to your strongest, happiest self!

was contemplating divorce, and could not believe it! I didn't think I loved my husband anymore. I was shocked, sad, scared, and broke with kids! I was feeling stuck, unhappy, out of love, bored and middle aged. Is this it? There was no way I can live the rest of my life like this.

Going forward I would like to touch on a different issue every month, issues that are relevant, that we deal with daily, sometimes about our children, sometimes for us. I invite you to ask me questions, tell me your issues, your worries and your question may be posted here and answered, telling you remedies I suggest. Please address your questions to amycohen@strongestminds.com.

At the same time, I was studying and learning about some new flower remedies from Australia. There are 69 flower remedies to choose from. I have been using them with clients and was noticing great improvements, in addition to the flowers I was already using and loving. Bringing these remedies into my office added another dimension of healing I have not touched on yet with flowers.

I work with many beautiful remedies from all over the world and look forward to sharing these beautiful remedies with you. I want to share a story about my relationship. And when I thought it was over....I was beautifully surprised. It not only brought my relationship back to life, it brought back my lust for life! All I needed was a flower remedy!

As part of my testing, I had to choose one remedy to take for four weeks and write a paper on it, whether I felt it did something or not.

It happens to everyone; marriage, kids, routine, life. I often meet men and women who are very bored with their life. It makes so much sense doesn't it? We spend our days going to work, many times a job or career we are not interested in anymore. Go home and there are same issues, same routine, and same chores daily, same issues with our children! Life has definitely become lackluster! Is it such a surprise that many people are unhappy, depressed? Are you stuck, or feel trapped, in a career or job you don't want anymore? You are not alone, most of us are. What is worse is the feeling that we cannot change it. Everything we feel, all that we do, is dictated by the feeling we cannot change, we need the money. We stay in relationships and our jobs because we feel stuck.

I chose Bush Gardenia.

It's a relationship essence. Gardenias are beautiful flowers. The most fragrant, sensual scent, don't you think? On the East coast, we only have gardenias for two months out of the year. Bush Gardenia represents Chakra 2; the reproduction system, theme is relationships. Used for issues concerning women and men regarding our reproductive organs as well as the kidneys, bladder and large intestine.

It works to help with stale relationships, self-interest, being unaware or uninterested. Works to bring passion, a renewal interest in your partner and improves communication. Communication is the key to a good marriage and Bush Gardenia also helps with the awareness of intentions. This essence will help you to understand if your communication is not being perceived the way you want it to be. If it is not, you will see this and make appropriate changes.

On marriage and flower remedies Marriage, I have learned, is a constant renegotiation. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In my case, I was in a place I didn't think it can work anymore. Bored, unhappy, angry and as a flower remedies practitioner and teacher, I realized I could not be unhappy in my life and be a practitioner. I could not be a good practitioner, if I was not living my true self. If I was not happy, how can I reach out and show all of you how fantastic the flower remedies truly are! That they can give us all we are looking for?! I

15

It is the essence to take when a long term relationship is petering out, losing its excitement, its spark. It brings consideration of each other back into the relationship, less selfishness, more or better communication, and romantic gestures. Can also be used for friends and children in a family to bring back more communication, helping with sibling rivalry, renewing stale friendships (I use other remedies for rivalry as well). If libido is low it will raise it, if libido is too high, it will calm it.

FLOWER POWER - Amy D. Cohen

April 2011

Thus, feeling that my marriage was in jeopardy, I thought this would be an interesting essence for me to try. I did not have high expectations for my personal relationship at this point. I discussed this with my husband, separated bedrooms, and would discuss our next move in a few weeks. Every person has their own happiness. The flower remedies do not work like a pill that you take and make you happy when sad. They work on each of us in a very personal, self-healing, gentle yet, profound way. They bring us back to our happy state by moving us back into balance. Every fight, every trauma changes us. The flowers gently move us and help us to start recognizing what it is we want inside, and it moves us in that direction. It takes the “I can't do this because‌ to ..... “What do I need to do to make this happen? You find yourself making a game plan, and it all seems so easy. I did not notice anything changing for me the first three days on the flower essence. On the morning of the fourth day, I started remembering my dreams. Odd dreams seemed meaningless. One week into the remedy, (7th day) I started noticing that my husband and I were talking a bit more. I wasn't feeling so stressed or uptight around him. Instead of just answering questions, we were laughing together a little bit. Life was not as tense as it was for me and it was nice to laugh again with him (just, kind of in passing). My tone was different. That was always a fun part of our relationship, laughing, that we seemed to have lost somewhere. I started to forget that I was angry or hurt. I was starting to think differently. It was becoming a daily habit that we were talking more, laughing about things during the day. We are together all day long now, my husband started his own business and I have always worked out of my home, and office. Supporting each other, joking around a bit. It made me remember that we used to have so much humor in our relationship. Hmmm, when did that stop? After the first baby, the second? Maybe we should start to spend some time, doing something together, not just going out to dinner or a movie...too humdrum....maybe doing something different. Sunday day out at the track with lunch, ballroom dancing, something outside the norm. Feeling like a new date! After two weeks into the remedy we were sitting in the family room and I looked at him sitting on the couch. I saw how he aged, how we aged together, beautiful gray in his hair, not so beautiful gray in my hair! Him, working on his new ventures, which, by the way, the flower essences helped him to form his plan, leave his job and create his own future, which he did not think he could

16

ever do! I was looking at him and thinking how we met as young adults and grew into real adults, created and shared a home, and a family. It was beautiful, he was beautiful. I was so happy to be feeling this. Every marriage has its share of stuff, just life stuff. But to grow together, fight together, get through the hating of each other at times, go through the boredom of marriage, raising kids, hitting the moments of rock bottom together, picking each other up from that bottom, renegotiating changes inside the marriage, that is the test of a marriage, but more it's a test of 'being in love'. Being able to make it through, weather the storm, finding what it was that brought you together in the first place that is what a beautiful relationship is all about. That is where Bush Gardenia brought me back to. Thank you for that! So that is just one essence and its effect on me. Amy D. COLLECT POSITIVITY: DO POSITIVE - Dheeraj Bhoma

April 2011

COLLECT POSITIVITY: DO POSITIVE Is it possible to be happy or keep others happy every day, every time? I know it's not possible but we can do it through awareness in our life. Try to collect positive energy and thoughts from around the world. How different people's energy influence our daily life? Imagine the scene below: 1. You are going out of your house and you find that a dog is resting at the entrance of your house. You suddenly get angry and kick that poor dog aside. That dog was in deep sleep or in good mood but you disturbed him. Remember the dog is also a creature of this world but he doesn't have sense of humor which exists in a human being. He doesn't know that the entrance of any house is not a resting place. He just find that place is a good to rest and he uses it. Now you disturbed him and his negative energy caught you and surrounded you. You thus go out with that negative energy. You don't know that the work for which you are going out, how it will be affected. 2. A beggar is begging you and you don't give him a penny and just show him your hand. It also affects your energy because you can afford the penny and he is very poor. So that his negativity about your affordability is influencing you indirectly. 3. When you come to your house. Your family, when you come back home, they want to talk to you, communicate with you about your daily journey, daily life, office life, all they just want to know and also want to show you about their daily happenings at home. But what generally happen, you just show them another route. May be you want to watch T V, movie or just sleep but you don't know, you have hurt your people. Indirectly that negative energy is also influencing you. 4. Your child wants to play and you stopped him because he hasn't completed studies of the day. They may think you as an obstacle. You will be poured by negativity. We can see how people in our world influence us whether they are connected directly to us or not. Whether it's a human or an animal. What are the remedies?

1. Be cool and calm at every moment. 2. Think five times before taking any action. 3. Meditation: You can develop your great sense through meditation. You will feel that every person in this world is just part of life. 4. Talk to your parents daily because after some time you will not find them in your life. They have very few years to live. 5. Always speak kind words to your spouse and children. You don't know how well your wife is maintaining your home. She cares about you and your children. Just listen to her carefully. 6. Deeply observing your children, you will find how genius they are. Your children are in this world because of you. Just show them that non completion of study task may ruin their life. Yes, play is also important so is the study. Just talk to them gently, and they will understand this very quickly. And a positive and healthy environment will be created just by small talk of understandings. 7. Some persons are so disciplined, active and focused in their work. They are dedicated to their work because of the passion they have. The dream which they have in their mind is always in front of their eyes. Here the problem could arise. Such people want to see the same dream in eyes of their staff's, which is absent. The boss always likes disciplined and dedicated staff but few people can fulfill those criteria. When the boss like some people and some not then it's a combination of negative and positive energy happening. If there are more positive people in favor of the industry then that industry will run smoothly. And if negativity permeates more than it will not run good. Here the remedy is to always treat your staff as your children. Treat them always with calm and cool eyes. Go to their houses and treat them like family members. This will generate more positive energy outflow all around you. Be aware at every step of life and this will create positive energy which you can notice after some time. PERU (Travel) - Compiled by Dhara Kothari

April 2011

The Land of the Incas Peru has three main climatic zones: the t r o p i c a l Amazon jungle to the east; the arid coastal desert to the west; and the A n d e a n mountains and highlands in the middle of the country. Peru's climate has two main seasons, wet and dry, though the weather varies g r e a t l y depending on the geographical region. The peak tourist season is from June to August, which coincides with the cooler dry season in the Andean highlands. People can and do visit the highlands year-round, though the wettest months of December to March make it a wet and muddy proposition. On the arid coast, Peruvians visit the beaches during the most hot and humid time of the year, from late December through March. In central and southern Peru, the coast is cloaked in garúa (coastal fog) for the rest of the year. Although the southern beaches are deserted then, the coastal cities can be visited at any time. In the north, the coast usually sees more sun, so beach lovers can hang out there year-round. In the eastern rainforest, of course, it rains. The wettest months are December through May, but even then it rarely rains for more than a few hours at a time, so there's still plenty of sunshine to enjoy. Follow the locals' example; briefly take cover during the heaviest downpours.

The Republic of Peru is a country in Western South America. The word Peru is derived from Birú, the name of a local ruler who lived near the Bay of San Miguel, Panama, in the early 16th century. Peruvian territory was home to the Norte Chico Civilization, one of the oldest in the world, and to the Inca Empire, the largest state in Pre-Columbian America. The Spanish Empire conquered the region in the 16th century and established a Viceroyalty, which included most of its South American colonies. After achieving independence in 1821, Peru has undergone periods of political unrest and fiscal crisis as well as periods of stability and economic upswing. Peru is a representative democratic republic divided into 25 regions. Its geography varies from the arid plains of the Pacific coast to the peaks of the Andes Mountains and the tropical forests of the Amazon Basin. The earliest evidences of human presence in Peruvian territory have been dated to approximately 9,000 years BCE. The oldest known complex society in Peru, the Norte Chico Civilization, flourished along the coast of the Pacific Ocean between 3,000 and 1,800 BCE. These early developments were followed by archaeological cultures such as Cupisnique, Chavin, Paracas, Mochica, Nazca, Wari, and Chimú. In the 15th century, the Incas emerged as a powerful state which, in the span of a century, formed the largest empire in pre-Columbian America. In 1532, a group of conquistadors led by Francisco Pizarro defeated and captured Inca Emperor Atahualpa. Ten years later, the Spanish Crown established the Viceroyalty of Peru, which included most of its South American colonies.

Places to visit Lima – Capital On its surface, Lima is no thing of beauty. Lima may not show its treasures openly, but peel back the foggy layers and you'll find pre-Columbian temples sitting silently amid condominium high-rises. What Lima lacks in attractiveness, it makes up with a huge array of downright literary experiences. Stately museums display sublime pottery; edgy art spaces host multimedia installations. There are solemn religious processions dating back to the 18th century and crowded nightclubs swaying to tropical beats. You'll find encyclopaedic bookstores and cavernous shopping malls, well-heeled private golf clubs and baroque churches ornamented with the skulls of saints. It's a

A few roads and just a few rivers connect this vast tract of jungle territory with the rest of Peru. The Amazonas comprises approximately 50% of the nation yet only 5% of Peruvians live here. It is nonetheless a fast-growing tourist destination. The Andes preserves some of the most diverse fauna and flora reserves in the whole world. The Peruvian Amazonas is a vivid, bright, exotic and challenging frontier zone. It deserves your time and attention. Arequipa The irresistibly sexy city of Arequipa, known as the Ciudad Blanca (White City), is surrounded by some of the wildest terrain in Peru. This is a land of active, snowy volcanoes, high-altitude deserts, thermal hot springs, salt lakes and, the world's deepest canyons. Peru's second-largest city is often dismissed as an overland layover en route from Nazca to Lake Titicaca and Cuzco. True, it's an invaluable intermediate stop for acclimatization to high altitudes. But don't leave before exploring the city itself, at least to wander down the hidden passageways of the Monasterio de Santa Catalina and marvel at the icy Inca mummies in the Museo Santury. surrounds the city either, not least the famous Cañón Del Colca, shadowed by snow-topped volcanoes and possessing one of the best places to marvel at the flight of the Andean condor. More roads, such as those in the Cañón Del Cotahuasi, await adventurous souls, passing ancient ruins, waterfalls, hot springs and even dinosaur footprints. Cañón Del Colca The 100km-long Cañón Del Colca is set among high volcanoes. For years there was raging controversy over whether or not this was the world's deepest canyon at 3191m, but recently it ranked a close second to neighbouring Cañón Del Cotahuasi, which is just over 150m deeper. Amazingly, both canyons are more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in the USA. Despite its depth, the Cañón Del Colca is geologically young. The climate is cool and dry on the plateau and

settlement is now a busy market town and makes an excellent base for exploring the awesome ancient ruins left behind by the fierce civilization of the Chachapoyas (People of the Clouds). slopes high above the Río Colca. However, the deep valley and generally sunny weather produce frequent updrafts, especially along the canyon's southern edge.

Spanish missionaries founded a small rural community on this site in the 16th century. Chiclayo has prospered ever since. In one of the first sharp moves in Peruvian real estate, the missionaries chose a spot that sits at the hub of vital trade routes between the coast, the highlands and the deep jungle. La Ciudad de la Amistad (the City of Friendship) holds a friendly, outstretched hand to the tourist. While it's shaking hands hello, it will probably slip in a bold mix of unique regional dishes to tickle your taste buds. Known for its brujos (witch doctors), the fascinating market here is a Wal-Mart of shamanistic herbs, elixirs and other sagely curiosities. While the town itself is pretty light on tourist attractions, the dozens of tombs with Moche and Chimu archaeological booty surrounding the area should not be missed.

Central Highlands Cuzco and the sacred valley This is the heartland of Andean Peru, its soul, one might say. A place where the Inca spirit lives on in an everyday way. In this land of bare Rocky Mountains you'll find sweeping Altiplano (Andean plateau) vistas studded with lakes, glaciers and tiny villages that live as they have done for aeons. You'll find valleys large and small where people live off the land and off their handicrafts; places where art is part of everyday life. Chachapoyas Also known as Chachas, Chachapoyas is a laid-back town insulated by a buffer of rough unpaved roads and high-altitude cloud forests. Huancavelica This historic city was a strategic Inca centre, and shortly after the conquest the Spanish discovered its mineral wealth. By 1564 the Spaniards were sending indigenous Peruvian slaves to Huancavelica to work in the mercury and silver mines. Huaraz and the Cordilleras This is the highest mountain range in the world outside of the Himalayas, and its 22 ostentatious summits of over 6000m will not let you forget it for a second. Cordillera Blanca is a South American mecca for worshippers of outdoor adventure, this is one of the preeminent hiking, t r e k k i n g a n d backpacking spots on the continent. In the eastern valley, the enigmatic 3000-yearold ruins of Chavín de Huántar await daily rediscovery, while further north pictureperfect villages, steeped in pre-Inca traditions, dispense affectionate smiles like they're going out of style.

Iquitos Linked to the outside world only by air and by river, Iquitos is the world's largest city that cannot be reached by road. It has a unique personality; friendly, noisy, sassy and slightly manic. Travellers come here for an excursion into the rainforest or a river trip along the Amazon, but they often stay a few days to relish this remote jungle capital of Loreto. Lake Titicaca Worlds collide around Lake Titicaca. Here the desolate Altiplano (Andean plateau) meets the storied peaks and fertile valleys of the Andes. Green, sun-dazed islands contrast with freezing dirt farms. According to Andean belief, this lake gave birth to the sun, as well as the father and mother of all the Incas, Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo. PreInca Pukara, Tiwanaku and Collas all lived here and left monuments scattered across the landscape, from waist-high burial towers for dwarves to comical oversized stone penises. Nazca

Huánuco Huánuco is the site of one of Peru's oldest Andean archaeological sites, the Temple of Kotosh (Or the Temple of the Crossed Hands). The town has a museum and a pleasant, shady Plaza de Armas. Although Huánuco was founded in 1541, little is left of its colonial buildings. The town's inhabitants boast that the perfect

Nazca was largely ignored by the outside world until 1939, when North American scientist Paul Kosok flew across the desert and noticed a series of extensive lines and figures etched below, which he initially took to be an elaborate pre-Inca irrigation system. In fact, what he had stumbled across was one of ancient Peru's most impressive and enigmatic achievements; the worldfamous Nazca Lines. Today the small town of Nazca is continually inundated by travellers who show up to marvel and scratch their heads over the purpose of these mysterious lines, which were declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1994. North Coast The unruly northern coast is flush with enough ancient chronicles to fill a library of memoirs, and boasts beaches and surf that are the envy of Peru. This coastline is scattered with more antediluvian ruins that you can poke a pre-Inca civilization at. They drool at the goldladen million-dollar treasures buried in long-forgotten

Puerto Maldonado gives the traveller the chance to see, feel and hear the Amazonian jungle like nowhere else in Peru. South Coast Peru's southern coastal desert is refreshed by palm oases and spanned by a ribbon of pavement, the Carretera Panamericana (PanAmerican Hwy), which slices all the way through the country from Ecuador to Chile. It's the best overland route to Arequipa, Lake Titicaca and of course, Cuzco. Yes, this is the start of Peru's wellbeaten Gringo Trail. Inspirations from Binah - Yvette Soler

INSPIRATIONS FROM BINAH We all have moments in life when we are dealing with problems we don't know how to solve. We read books, browse through forums, take classes and talk to friends, but that just leads us to endless amounts of spiritual options without a clear way to use them. In the end, we are more confused than ever, eventually calling out to the Universe for help! In these times where previously-hidden spiritual knowledge is being revealed at a rapid pace, there is a need to learn how to integrate these teachings into everyday life. My Higher Self guides me as I identify your issues from your question, cross reference them against a database of correspondences, and reveal the perfect match between question and Spiritual Tool.

Also, ensure you are working a healthy amount of hours. We are more prone to make mistakes if we push ourselves to work longer than our body can handle in a given week. Habituate yourself to a continuous workday using light therapy and aromatherapy. Your circadian rhythm can be reset by exposure to an external stimuli, in this case light and smell. Going outside and spending a few minutes in direct sunlight will tell your body that it is time to be alert and active. If you live in a place where the sun is often covered by clouds, then invests in a full spectrum light or light box. Its rays are interpreted by the body as sunlight, producing the same effects as going outside. When you feel yourself getting tired, take a break and bask in the light for approximately 10 - 15 minutes. Now that your body is awake, use essential oils to guide the mind. Essential and other aromatic compounds are made from flowers and plants and used to alter a person's mind and body. They can be employed in a variety of ways, including applied directly to the body, inhaled and ingested. While you work, have an atomizer or vaporizer filled with water and specific scents available. When you feel scattered and unfocused, spritz and breathe. You can choose a variety of different oils based on their properties. Here are some suggestions: Peppermint - Concentration enhancer, has wonderful focusing properties Rosemary - Enhances logical thinking and short term memory Eucalyptus - Clears the mind in order to connect to inner wisdom Sandalwood - Emphasizes completion of projects Clove Oil - Stimulates your mind and body While there are some that heat the oil in a burner, it is better for them to be diffused into the air. How do I maintain my focus? Dear Inspirations from Binah: What is an easy way to manifest more focus into my work, on a routine basis? For instance, I wake up and have certain hours that are wildly productive, yet in the mid-day there is a lull, and in the afternoon I get lots more work done. Any tips for continuous work? From Martha Bodies have a natural cycle, a circadian rhythm. This biological process regulates your daily activities, allowing you to anticipate and prepare for consistent environmental changes. This is why you get sleepy when it is dark and are awake when it is bright. The invention of electricity has changed human evolution since with perpetual artificial daylight in our homes, we sleep much less than we once did. In general, our circadian rhythm protects us, tuning into external stimuli in order to create a cycle where you can flow in harmony with the world around you. Unfortunately, that rhythm doesn't always take into considerations deadlines and life goals. The good news is that the circadian rhythm can be adjusted to match a given schedule, but keep in mind that your body needs adequate rest and down time in order to maintain peak physical and mental performance. You can train yourself to be more focused throughout the day, but first you need to ask your Higher Self if your afternoon lull is a symptom of a greater problem. Go into meditation, call in your Higher Self and have an honest conversation about your overall workload. Review all the factors that can be contributing to your downtime. Is this your body alerting you to something, such as a lack of sleep, too much stress, emotional hardship or physical burden? Take the necessary steps to correct any imbalance. With an action plan in hand to deal with source issues, you can begin to mold your circadian rhythm, making it more conducive to your desired schedule. Remember to take short breaks throughout the day to rest; walking away from your desk for a few minutes to get some fresh air will invigorate your mind and body.

Lightening the Lamp Within: Illuminating the path to greater spiritual awareness By Jyoti Sondhi

Published by iUniverse

Lighting the lamp within is Jyoti Sondhi's personal journey on the path of spiritual awakening. A housewife with an uneventful life for quite a while, Sondhi was acquainted with very subtle energy vibrations when she involved herself in Reiki. Following a spiritual awakening that deeply affected her life she received inspirations with intense feelings of gratitude and faith. “I'm thankful to the Universe,” she says “for the inspiration to work on the book and the ideas that flowed through me.” Jyoti's writing is simple and she illustrates her points with examples that are so regular in our lives that they are mundane. But, ironically, it is that very mundaneness that becomes the strength of the book. It is because they come from the everyday life of an ordinary human being that they make the book so accessible to lay minds. Take a look at something like this in the chapter 'Fear of the Unknown' where she says, “Sometimes my husband wakes up in the middle of the night, worrying about our children who live overseas. He says he fears for their safety and welfare. I have to frequently remind him that mentally sending them love instead of worry and dread will benefit them as well as us. By changing our thoughts from fear to love and gratitude we

attract a different experience in our lives.” This is perhaps the most common experience of millions of parents whose children live in other countries; completely unremarkable. Would a glitzy selfdevelopment book, a flashbulb, have mentioned something so common? Probably not, but Jyoti's book is about 'lighting the lamp' within us. The light might not dazzle us with its brilliance but it will quietly show the way. In other words the reader gets a feel that Jyoti Sondhi is one of us. She isn't the one sitting on an exalted seat and preaching. She doesn't explain her ideas with highflying concepts. She's more like a wiser friend talking to us on a quite afternoon. And she knows what she is saying because she has experienced it all firsthand. With 200-odd pages and 43 small chapters, the book deals with i s s u e s l i k e insecurities, ego, attachments, being positive, gratitude, superstitions and letting go, among many others. After every chapter there is a page of reflections. The book might not be extraordinary but definitely worth a read. My copy says, “From my soul to yours…Love & Light…” Thank you Jyoti!

Legend of the Nomad Chapter 1: Inner Power - Miracle - Perception - Contemplation - Choice Synopsis

Since my early childhood I have tried to expand my perspective on life. From a young age, I showed a distinct interest for the different views of life we see existing in our world. Exploring this world and searching for what inspires human beings therefore became my greatest passion.

This inner guide was none other than my intuition. A power all of us possess and that teaches us to understand the signs associated with all events. That intuition is a power encouraging us to listen to our true feelings while bringing us closer to our destiny. Since then I have discovered that events never happen by coincidence. Each event has a deeper meaning and always moves within a determined cycle. Thus I became increasingly aware of the marvelous arrangement governing the universe. When I

Legend of the Nomad - By Alex Mero concentrated on the deeper reasons of life, I understood that all of us have a great gift; the inner desire we cherish deep in ourselves to go searching for our destiny! It was this inner desire that incited me to write this book, which has resulted from a mixture of old wisdom but also anecdotes from the many cultures in which I have come into contact. This inner desire has turned into a story, which as we reach deeper into its core, shows us how we can live in harmony with our environment and helps us to understand the reason for our existence. I am glad to be able to share this story with you and also hope that each of you becomes a little more aware of the wonder of our lives. Chapter 1 Inner Power Miracle One morning during the rainy season, the coast guard of Zamboanga received a report of an accident in the Sulu Sea, a natural border between Malaysia and the Philippine archipelago. The ship, called 'Harap', originally came from Sandakan, Malaysia and was on its way to Zamboanga, the Philippines. A storm of unimaginable force had been raging for some days. The sea was restless and the capricious Gulf Streams had already capsized several boats. The large ship destroyed by the storm that day was a passenger ship from Malaysia. The news of the 'Harap' spread quickly and caused a wave of panic among the inhabitants of Zamboanga and its surroundings. Many had family members and friends on board. Some of them offered to accompany the rescuers and assist at the site of the disaster. Around nine o'clock the first frigates approached the area the ship sank. The rescuers saw countless corpses floating on the water and understood that this could not have been an everyday storm. In the report, prepared later by the rescue captain, the following notes were found: "There was a mysterious atmosphere at the disaster site. No shouting or cries of distress to be heard, only an overwhelming and terrifying silence. The air was foggy and the water had turned exceptionally calm. If it had not been for the floating corpses, nothing would have shown that a disaster had occurred there. It seemed as if the sea was ashamed of what it had caused." The divers jumped into the water to search for the ship and the other rescuers went looking for survivors. The

26

ship was quickly found, it held many lifeless bodies. At first sight it seemed all the occupants had drowned. The rescue captain was a man of authority, who had experienced much in his life, but this disaster exceeded everything. Still, he kept going and did not show any signs of weakness. He urged everyone to keep looking for survivors. Time went by and the hope of finding any became less and less, until both the rescuers and the local aid workers decided to stop their search. The number of casualties traumatized several of them. Many had recognized family members and friends, but the rescue captain kept stressing that nobody would rest before all the bodies had been identified. The rescue team had been working incessantly for many hours, when suddenly shouts were heard from behind one of the frigates. Some rescuers swam quickly towards them shouting. To their astonishment they saw a small boy with shoulder length brown hair. He was lying naked on a piece of driftwood, trembling with cold. Judging by his build he was about five years old, his head was being supported by the hand of the rescuer who had shouted for help. The same rescuer spoke with tears of joy streaming down his face: Â&#x;He's breathing, he's still breathing... he's alive!

A couple of rescuers took the boy on deck. The child was indeed still breathing; he was barely conscious. The rescue captain was fetched immediately. He looked with astonishment at the small boy and checked his heartbeat. When he actually heard the boy's heartbeat, he called all the rescuers: Â&#x;This is what all our efforts were for; he yelled... this is

our reward! Harap! Let the name of this boat be engraved in your memory forever! The rescue captain made a cursory check of the small boy and then took a blanket to cover the cold seemingly lifeless body of the child. The rescuers looked at each other and now even felt a slight sensation of joy in the midst of this enormous misery. Their search had produced something! One of the rescuers noticed that the boy was not from the area. His features were different and his skin color paler. The other rescuers also looked attentively, without being able to determine his origin. Later many more corpses would be found with even paler skin. The rescuers kept searching, but no more survivors were found. The first frigates returned to the coastal port of Zamboanga with the small boy. Once in Zamboanga, the rescue captain ordered the child to be

Legend of the Nomad - By Alex Mero dressed and taken to a local hospital. He was still comatose. In the report made after the disaster, the rescue captain further described that it was a miracle the small boy had been the only survivor of the disaster. The rescue captain consciously omitted the fact that he had been found naked. Had he taken off his clothes? Was he washing himself at the moment of the disaster? Whatever the reason might be, the rescue captain thought it better not to mention it, so as not to cause any upset. In the following days the small boy remained in a coma. The identification of the passengers was fully underway. The passengers who had been on board were mainly people from Malaysia and the Philippines. The passengers with paler skin were from Belgium and the Netherlands, they had been a small group of art historians who had wanted to make the passage to the Philippines with the Harap. The Belgian and the Dutch authorities were informed about the shipwreck and the small boy who had survived the disaster. The report included photos and a clear description of the physical characteristics of the child. The families of all the victims were informed, but not one recognized the small boy! It was the father of Dunia, one of the deceased art historians, who was interested. Mauro had lost his only daughter Dunia, who had been living for some years in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. Mauro contacted the Belgian authorities and said he had not seen his daughter for some years. She might have become a mother in the meantime, so he would like to know more about the small boy. A couple of days later Mauro received all the information from the authorities.

mother was one of the deceased on board the Harap. For the next couple of days Mauro stayed close to the small boy and took care of him like a loving father. This caused an increasing affinity between the two of them. In the meantime, Mauro had received decisive proof that it was impossible for the small boy to be his grandchild. His daughter Dunia had never been pregnant and adoption was not an option. Nothing changed for Mauro. To the contrary, the man grew into his role as grandfather and had even given the boy a name, Nathan! Mauro had been unable to discover where the child came from because the boy had not yet spoken one word. Nathan had no difficulty in producing sounds, but apparently could not recall anything by name. Mauro thought this very odd. Nathan did not seem traumatized for a child of five who should be able to talk. Mauro did not say anything about it and taught Nathan a couple of French words to perhaps stimulate memories of his origin. Day by day Nathan felt better. According to the doctors he had no emotional or physical injuries from the disaster. With time Mauro noticed how lively Nathan was, he was remarkable because of his great curiosity. One nurse noticed something peculiar. Every time she brought a jug of water, the jug was empty after just a couple of minutes. The nurse kept an eye on Nathan and saw how each time Nathan brought the jug to his mouth; he slowly drank until it was empty. She discussed this with a colleague. When the two nurses told Mauro about this, he decided to observe the phenomenon. The next morning he bought a couple of bottles of water at the grocery store. He filled a large glass with water and gave it to Nathan. He did this about twenty times and each time Nathan drank until the glass was completely empty. Mauro was intrigued by this and observed Nathan for a long time, but could not explain it. So as not to worry the nursing staff, he blamed it on the high temperature in the hospital. Of course it was a trivial explanation, but Mauro had been able to convince the nurses of his protective intentions towards Nathan so much so that they did not speak to anybody about it.

On a Friday, exactly at twelve o'clock, a couple of hours after he had received the data, he contacted the hospital in Zamboanga. The management of the hospital told him that the small boy had just awakened from the coma a couple of hours earlier. When Mauro asked about the exact time the child had come out of the coma, he was told this had happened just before noon. Mauro thought it remarkable that this was the In the meantime, Mauro had become friends with the exact time he had received the data. local police commissioner. Once in Belgium, Mauro made sure he was appointed Nathan's guardian. Mauro told his friends that Dunia, his daughter, had adopted Nathan and, as she had died, it seemed plausible to everybody that Mauro would take over the guardianship. Mauro worked as a correspondent for an important newspaper and sometimes he had to stay abroad for long periods of time. During Mauro's absence his younger sister helped him with Nathan's care. daily, which had further strengthened his dream of traveling. When Mauro had saved enough money to pay for his first trip, he left for Belgium. He chose Belgium, because one of his uncles already lived in Brussels and it seemed the ideal place for him to live. Before his departure Mauro had promised his younger sister that she could follow as soon as he had found his own place. Within three months of his arrival Mauro rented an apartment and sent for his younger sister to come to Belgium. As luck would have it, Mauro would marry his sister's friend, with whom she had become acquainted in Belgium. She was from Leuven, a pleasant Belgian provincial city with a great number of students from all the corners of the world. Dunia was their only child. A couple of years before Dunia's death, Mauro's wife had died of lead poisoning. Her nervous system had been heavily affected by the lead from the plumbing to which she had been exposed for years in her parent's house. During the months before and after the death of his wife, Mauro had a difficult time and had immersed himself in his work. Later Dunia would not forgive him for spending so little time with her sick mother. This made it even more painful when Mauro heard about the death of his daughter. He had wanted so much to talk with her about it, but had never made it a priority.

The Belgian capital was going through an economic boom and attracted a large number of people from the Mediterranean. Many came to try their luck in the Belgian capital and would never leave again. All those different nationalities gave the city a southern atmosphere and it was a fascinating time to be living in the city. Nathan, especially at a later age, would appreciate the wealth of languages and cultures in which he grew up. Together with his father, Nathan lived on the top floor of a mansion with a view of Benefactor place, one of the typical district squares in the city. One day Gianni, one of the fathers who had come along, proposed a boat trip along the coast. They

Nobody noticed when Nathan jumped into the water. When Anna, a girlfriend, noticed Nathan's long absence, a slight panic broke out on board. Everybody immediately started looking for Nathan. Mauro and the other men dove into the water. Nobody saw Nathan and panic increased by the second! When Nathan suddenly broke through the surface of the water, he was unaware of the panic he had caused. Everybody was so upset that they decided to return to shore immediately. During the return trip Nathan was asked where he had been all this time. He answered that he had swum to the bottom of the sea. The captain of the boat said that this was difficult to believe, as the bottom was more than fifty meters deep. He added that it was improbable for a child to be able to stay without air for so long. Nathan kept repeating that he was speaking the truth. Mauro, who saw that this was an unusual situation, reacted in a surprising manner. In front of his friends he became angry with Nathan and accused him of playing this game to cause everyone to panic. Mauro's true intention was to ensure that his friends would not continue to question the incident.

He asked him the meaning of "Il Dono". Mauro did not know offhand what it meant, but presumed that it was Italian. When Mauro asked him why he wanted to know this, Nathan told him that this was the name on the boat he had seen under water. The next day Mauro returned alone to the coastal town, close to the location where the incident had taken place. He wanted to find out if the people there knew anything about a sunken ship. Mauro got to hear the full story at the local town hall. Indeed, years ago a ship had sunk where Nathan had gone diving the day before. The story became all the more intriguing when he heard the name of the boat, "Il Dono". The town officer added that this was Italian for The Gift! Perception

laid that on Mauro's desk. Mauro had read the letter the previous night before going to bed. It was a sincere, even emotional letter. These past weeks have not been easy, Mauro said, and your letter came at a good time. It really moved me. I wanted to take time to thank you, Nathan said, and I wanted to let you know once again what you mean to me. I am happy with the bond that we have. I think that you would be surprised if you knew how much you have inspired me in difficult times. There are moments when I feel as if you are close to me, even though you are far away. Strange, isn't it? Our feelings say much more than our thoughts. Maybe I was also thinking of you at the same time.

Nathan turned off his alarm clock, lay down on his bed again and closed his eyes for a moment. The alarm clock had woken up Mauro, who had just returned from a long trip. When Nathan opened his eyes, he experienced, as he would describe later, a moment of clarity. He asked himself; how could one single thought, and such a nondescript one at that, suddenly consume me like that? It amazed him that something so banal could suddenly be so important. Nathan remained lost in his thoughts for some time until his father's voice calling him to breakfast interrupted him. He got up, got dressed and went to the wash stand to freshen up. The water felt invigorating. It seemed as if he was even more awake now. Then he held his two hands above the wash stand and looked at himself in the mirror without drying himself. He thought again about what had just happened and decided to discuss it with his father. Nathan turned off the faucet and went to the kitchen.

Mauro was an avid reader of philosophical literature, and not only was he a literate man; he also had a knowledgeable gift regarding human nature. He was able to get a good sense of people during conversations. It also seemed as if he had the ability to say exactly the right words when they were needed. Mauro took the pan from the fire, put the omelet on a plate on the table and divided it. Then he took two big glasses from the cabinet, filled them with apple juice and sat down again:

Mauro was reading the weekend paper and greeted him with a firm hug. They had not seen each other for three weeks and were happy to be together again. Nathan kissed his father and sat down at the table. Mauro had prepared an omelet and said these wise words:

Do you know what really made me happy when I read your letter…? The fact that you wrote it without any specific reason. Indeed, it happened quite spontaneously, I was thinking about everything you do for me. Gratitude is the memory of the heart.

Remember that a good breakfast is very important. Father and son enjoyed being together again. As usual You never know what the day will hold for you! Nathan was curious about what his father had seen and experienced during his journey. This time Mauro Nathan immediately recognized the typical manner in had visited several cities in Eastern Europe together which his father transmitted his messages. Mauro with a camera team. Legend of the Nomad - By Alex Mero Book Review - Gayatri Pagdi Nathan looked at his father, not understanding. Mauro explained his thoughts: Pure knowledge is knowing what is good for you. Pure love is doing what is right. The more you know what is good, the more you will do what is right! Are good and bad not experienced differently by each one of us? People use their powers of observation to distinguish good from bad. That is why it is important to be open to new visions, so that we can adjust our perceptions. Our visions of what? Mainly our own possibilities and the purposes we pursue in life.

Now Nathan needed to calm down. He tried to digest everything he had heard that day from his father. He had learned that thoughts contained signs, for which he had to be open minded. From this we can derive messages to help us make choices. In order to be able to interpret these messages correctly, we must develop our "inner power" and trust this power. In this way we can obtain more insight into our possibilities and our personal evolution.

held. Then a colleague of Mauro's walked past. He noticed Mauro and came towards him. Mauro stood up and went to meet him. Nathan remained seated and tried to understand the communication between Mauro and his colleague from a distance. Analyzing how people communicate had frequently intrigued Nathan. He noticed that his father was listening attentively and only spoke occasionally. This made Nathan curious. After his father and the colleague had finished talking, Mauro took his leave and beckoned to Nathan. They walked back to the car and Nathan asked Mauro if he had known his colleague for some time. Nathan wanted to know what the conversation had been about. Mauro recognized his son's curiosity and said that they only knew each other superficially, even though they had been working together for years. Some people give us energy, while others mainly require energy. It usually concerns the goals that each of us is pursuing. Our goals not only determine who we are, but also how we deal with others. What is the best way to know whether we are pursuing the right goals?

Nathan was immensely inspired by what he had learned that day in Antwerp. It was as if he now better understood what he had always known. It gave him an incredibly satisfying feeling and he was thirsty for more knowledge. It had also become clear to Nathan what it was he wanted to do most in his life: obtain knowledge through conversations. Nothing gave him more satisfaction than broadening his vision of the most fundamental questions about human beings and the world. Nathan realized how lucky he was that Mauro had an impressive library. In the coming years Nathan would read innumerable books. He would write down the most important questions surging in him and discuss these frequently with his father.

Do you remember our conversation about our "inner power"? Of course. The more we are aware of this power, the more insight we have about the accuracy of the goals we pursue. People that are unaware of their "inner power" have little or no insight. Do people frequently pursue wrong goals? You can sense this by paying attention to the energy they emit.

Contemplation

Nathan thought about this.

Nathan was seventeen years old. On this sunny autumn day he had planned to discuss his most recent list of questions with his father. This happened in Atomium Park, the famous Brussels Park where the monument with the nine imposing spheres can be seen. When Nathan and Mauro arrived at the park, they noticed that it was more crowded than they had expected, but this did not disturb them. They knew they would not be distracted once they got into their conversation. Mauro went to buy some ice cream and then sat down next to Nathan. In the following hours, as expected, a number of fruitful conversations were

be in control and therefore always tries, either consciously or unconsciously, to manipulate his environment. Does he know this about himself? He assumes that this is the best way to deal with people. Have you called his attention to this? I have tried a couple of times, but I need to be careful. It wouldn't be good if we pass judgment on this. Why not?

March2011 April 2011

Legend of the Nomad - By Alex Mero Book Review - Gayatri Pagdi Because on the one hand we can never be completely sure that we are right, and on the other people who are acting the wrong way usually benefit more from understanding than from a reprimand. Does this mean that we have to understand and not judge? In this way your words will have more effect. Can we change someone by doing so? That should not be the intention in itself. It is better to find out together with this person their real motivation. Thus there is more chance that he or she will realize that the behavior is disruptive. How can you do this without judging? By asking the right questions, just like Socrates! Now I understand why your colleague always went quiet after you had been talking; you know how to get him to think. That is a form of speaking that renders others quiet!

Nathan had already received a lot of information, but did not want to stop. Do you think your colleague has understood it well? If he finds it important enough to think about it, there

is a big possibility that he will understand my messages. Which will surely influence his behavior? Exactly. In that case our meeting will also have a meaning for him and it will not have been pure coincidence that we met each other! Will he see it as a sign then? Mauro nodded: Everything depends on what we decide to do with socalled coincidences. When you understand this well, you can make a distinction between those who see their lives as many coincidences and those who are consciously looking for the deeper meaning of events in their life. I have always felt that life means more than it seems. That surely applies to you!

Nathan knew that Mauro was referring to his miraculous rescue. Is it possible that the meeting with your colleague also has meaning for me? The reasoning applies to my colleague as well as to you. If this conversation leads you to new insights, it will not have been a coincidence that we chose to come to this place on this specific day.

Nathan followed his fathers' thoughts and became increasingly interested.

25 33

Our conversation has taught you some things, such as giving messages subtly by asking the right questions. That's true. If that causes you to nurture the habit of asking questions that entice others to think, you will make those others more aware of their "inner power"…… and that can also change their behavior. With the result that you will have an impact on their lives.

Nathan became more aware of the consequences related to each action. He was deep in thought now and tried to understand everything correctly. Can we say then, that there is far more coherence in

the world than we would suspect at first glance? Everything is connected!

Mauro had said these words in a serious tone of voice. Nathan understood that this was a very important insight. Really, everything? Each change leads to other changes, which then again

lead to new changes. Nathan tried to grasp the extent of this new data. Mauro said nothing more. He opened a bottle, patted some water on his forehead and brushed his hair backwards. Nathan observed this scene until his father gestured him to also refresh himself. Nathan walked towards him and imitated his father. Suddenly Nathan again experienced a captivating moment as a crystal clear thought arose in him. If everything influenced everything that meant that everything was connected. Now Nathan fully understood the conclusion his father had wanted him to reach. Mauro saw in Nathan's eyes that he had understood the message. If everything is connected, that means that everything must also be whole! You don't forget what you have discovered yourself!

This conversation would continue vibrating within him for a long time. In the following days Nathan had difficulty concentrating on other issues. He kept thinking back to his father's words, such as "inner power" and "everything is a whole". It was as if his brain kept processing the information. This went on for a couple of days until Nathan woke up one morning and felt completely rested. The information he had obtained was now well ordered in his mind. He had

Legend of the Nomad - By Alex Mero Book Review - Gayatri Pagdi Laura, who was very impressed, asked one last question: What do we have to learn in order to become as wise as you? Mauro smiled. We receive wisdom from the lessons that life imposes on us unexpectedly!

Mauro said goodbye and wished Laura and Y Chao good luck in discovering their correct choices. After Mauro's departure, Nathan and his friends kept talking about what they had just discussed. Nathan was the only person who could clearly see the impression his father had made. Continuation with his studies was not a priority for Nathan. Just like his father, he wanted to explore the world as much as possible. His hunger for the discovery of new people, new cultures and new countries had increased with each New Year. Mauro knew that the day of his son's departure would soon come. It pained him to have to say goodbye, but he also knew it was necessary for his personal development. It had been Mauro who had taught him there was no better way to gather knowledge than by experience. Naturally, Mauro also knew that Nathan was capable of something great, a feeling that Nathan himself was becoming more aware of day by day.
