예술과 자본, 서로 다른 속성간의 지속가능한 공유에 대한 다양한 실험과 예술적 실천을 목표로 2015년 개관했던 공유공간 뽕뽕브릿 지가 세 번째 교류전을 준비합니다. 点火는 뽕뽕브릿지가 운영하고 있는 국제교류프로그램의 브랜드 네임으로써 불을 붙이다(IGNITION)라는 뜻을 가지고 있습니다. 이는 예술이라는 매개체로 지역과 지역간의 교류를 통해 간극의 폭 을 좁히고, 사람과 사람간의 만남을 통해 서로의 의식을 공유하는 자리를 만들고자 하는 의도를 가지고 있습니다. 작년 첫 번째 点火 전시를 베이징에서 진행하였고, 그 연장선상에 있는 이번 전시는 각 지역에서 활동하고 있는 두 명의 협업 큐레이 터의 기획으로 진행되었습니다. 먼저 광주에서 활동하고 있는 서지 안 큐레이터는 예술가들의 지속적 활동을 위한 부수적 장치들을 고 민하고 실행하는 활동을 하고 있습니다. Jia JingJing 큐레이터는 베이징 따산즈 예술구 내 A급 화랑인 White Box에 근무했었으며, 현재는 베이징의 다양한 세대와 장르의 예술가들과 활발한 작업을 진행하고 있는 차세대 큐레이터입니다. 이번 전시를 만들고자 이 두 큐레이터는 그동안 각 지역에서 활동하며 리서치한 예술가들의 면면을 보여주고 각 지역의 현대미술에 대한 리서치와 고민을 보여 주고자 노력하였습니다. 이번 전시를 준비하면서 ‘교류’라는 의식儀式에 대하여 고민해 보게 됩니다. 심심치 않게 진행하는 일회성 사업이 아닌 지속적 행 위로 만들어 가고자 하는 다짐과 함께 이 행위들이 지역이 어떤 쓰 임새로 활용할지에 대한 고민입니다. 이런 고민의 해답은 의식意識 의 공유와 실천이라는 생각이 들었습니다. 단순한 의식儀式으로 끝 나지 않는 의식意識의 공유와 실천으로 변화 시킬 수 있도록 항상 노력하는 뽕뽕브릿지가 되도록 노력하겠습니다. 신호윤

한국과 중국은 먼 친척 같은 존재일 뿐 아니라, 가 까운 이웃 같은 존재이기도 하다.수십 년 전부터 한 국과 중국은 더 이상 좁은 물줄기로 갈라져 있는 서 로 동떨어진 나라가 아니다. 오히려 어떻게 보더라 도 두 나라는 선례가 없을 정도로 가깝게 지내고 있 다. “그 누구도 섬(혼자)이 아니다.” 사람과 국가 가 그렇기에, 소통과 교류는 문화와 예술에 있어 더

교류전에 존재하는 차이점에 대한 것이기도 하다.

없이 필요하다. 소통이 다른 이의 부족함을 채워주 는 것이라면, 교류는 서로 배워가는 것을 의미한다. 소통이 있기에 우리는 서로를 이해할 수 있고, 교류 가 있기에 우리는 하나 될 수 있다. 한국의 문화 수 도인 광주는 이러한 소통과 교류의 플랫폼을 가지고 있는 곳이다.

미하는 “빛”을 주제로 삼기로 했다. 그렇다. 이것 은 시작일 뿐인 것이다. 교류는 여전히 우리의 계획 이며, “빛”은 계속된 우리의 주제이다. 12명의 한 국, 그리고 중국의 예술가들이 소개될 것이며, 이번 전시에서 이들이 찬란하게 빛날 것을 기대해 본다.

광주에서는 다양한 예술 활동이 연중 일어나고 있으 며, 아트페어, 아트파티,전시와 같은 활동들이 도시 의 예술성을 고양시키고, 극대화 시키고 있다. 그중 에서도 가장 유명한 것이 광주비엔날레이다. 1995 년, 광주 비엔날레는 세계적으로 가장 중요한 현대 예술 축제였고, 아시아 전역의 많은 투자와 관람객 의 방문을 유치했다. 2016년 제11회 광주비엔날레 가 열리고, 그 주제는 “제8기후대(예술은무엇을하 는가)”이다. 이전의 비엔날레가 “경계를 넘어” 나 “지구의 여백”에 중점을 두었던 것에 비해, 올 해는 조직 위원회가 예술의 세계에 질문을 던지는 것이다. 이 질문은 과거의 예술 동향을 요약하기 위 한 것일까? 혹은 미래의 예술 동향을 연구하기 위한 것일까? 어떻게 보든지 간에, 우리는 그 질문에 대 한 답에 가까운 곳에 지금 존재하고 있다. 이는 몇몇 예술가나 개개인의 큐레이터가 이 축제의 전시를 요약하고 밝혀 낼 수 있는 것이 아니다. 우 리는 어떠한 하나의 “시점”을 제시하려 하는 것이 고,이는 한국과 중국의 예술가, 그리고 큐레이터의 특별한 시점이다. 문화적 배경의 다름, 삶의 경험, 그리고 사유 하는 법이 예술가의 다양한 예술에 대 한 이해, 창작에 대한 태도, 그리고 흥미 지점을 생 겨나게 하는 것이다. 또한, 우리가 기획하는 한-중

China and Korea are not only distant relatives, but close neighbors as well.

Separated by a narrow strip of water, China and Korea are no longer isolated from each other as several decades ago. Instead, from whichever perspective, the connection between the two countries isunprecedentedly intimate.

“No man is an island.” Just as is the case for peoples and nations, communication and exchanges is even more necessary for cultures and arts. Communication means each making up what the other lacks while exchange refers to mutual learning. It is with communication that we understand each other and it is with exchange that we come together. Gwangju, as the cultural capital of Korea, gives us a communication and exchange platform.

Throughout the year, various art activities are held in Gwangju, art fair, art party and invitation exhibitions of all kinds driving the city’s artistic atmosphere to the extreme. The most famous of all is the Gwangju Biennale. Dating back to 1995, Gwangju Biennale is the world’s most important contemporary arts festival attracting the largest amount of investment and the largest number of visitors in Asia. In 2016, the city is to hold the 11th biennale themed on “The Eighth Climate(What does Art do?”).

Different from previous biennales centering on “Beyond the Borders” or “Unmapping the Earth”, this year, the theme this year is a question posed to the world of art by the Organizing Committee. Is this question trying to summarize the artistic trends in the past? Or to study the future trend of art? Nevertheless, no matter how we perceive it, we are near the answers to the question.

Merely several artists or individual curators could not possibly summarize and explore perfectly for a participating exhibition in thisart festival. What we try to offer is a “perspective”, a special perspective of Chinese and Korean artists and curators.

The differences in cultural background, life experience and even ways of thinking give rise to artists’ diversified understandings of art, manners of creation, and points of interests. It is also for the existence of such differences that we organize this China-Korea Art Exchange Exhibition.

With continuous social development and intimate communications, more and more Chinese artists become aware of the significance of integrating into the world’s art party. In April 2016, I, together with curator SEO JI-AN, discussed about plans for the China-Korea Art Exchange Exhibition. After discussion, we decided to use the theme “Light”, meaning a start of a brilliant future.

Yes. Only a start. Exchange will beour plan unchanged and “Light” our theme longlasting. Works of 12 Chinese and Korean artists are to be on display this time and we expect to see them shining brilliantly on this exhibition.

In this ever-changing world, the art has always been following its initial aspiration, becoming more and more diversified, individualized yet integrated. Exchanges today promise unlimited possibilities for tomorrow.
