TroutRiver,NewYork-TheU.S.GeneralServicesAdministration(GSA)releasedtheapproveddesignconceptforthemodernization oftheU.S.LandPortofEntryinTroutRiver,NY,fundedthroughtheBipartisanInfrastructureLaw.
Theconcept,developedbyDavisBrodyBond andSpacesmith ,willupdatetheexisting7,350-square-foothistoricfacilityto meetcurrentprogramandoperationalneeds.Theinnovativedesignapproachengagesthetotalbuildingwithsensitivitytoits historicGeorgianRevival–style,toaccommodateasizableandharmoniousaddition,andtointroduceanewinboundand outboundtra icinspectioncanopy
GSAisachampionofenvironmentallyhigh-performingbuildings,andthisprojecthighlightsitssustainabilityleadership. Leveragingupto$11millionofInflationReductionActfunding,theTroutRiverLandPortofEntrydesignwill:

InMarchofthisyear,GSAannouncedtheselectionofartistAdamCvijanovictodesignnewartworkfortheportthroughthe agency’sArtinArchitectureProgram
TheTroutRiverLandPortofEntryconnectsConstable,NewYork,withAthelston,Quebec,inCanada.Theportisusedbynearly 150,000passengervehiclesand1,400commercialvehiclesannually.Thisfacilityisahistoriclandmarkandhasaunique relationshipwiththecompanionCanadianinspectionstation,whichalsoisaprotectedculturalresource Throughitssiting, materials,andmassing,thedesignfortheUS LandPortofEntrymaintainstherelationshiptoitscontemporary GSAexpectsthe newporttobeoperationalbySpring2027
