EARLY CHILDHOOD FAMILY EDUCATION
Saint Paul ECFE mission: Strengthening and supporting families through education and support of all parents for the healthy growth and development of their children. Welcome to Saint Paul Public Schools Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program where you can explore new experiences, meet other families, and grow and learn together with your child. ECFE is a universal access program for families in the Saint Paul School District with children ages birth to kindergarten (K). At ECFE we understand the importance of the early years in a child’s development. Right from birth, parents shape a child’s development and set the stage for future learning and growth. That’s why ECFE offers classes that provide information, encouragement and support for parents and their children. Our class schedule offers mixed age classes, age specific classes for parents and their infants, culturally specific and Parenting Across Cultures offerings. In addition, Saint Paul ECFE has a Family Literacy program for parents who are beginning to learn English and parenting in a new country. Look through the brochure and register for a class today. You can also register on-line at ecfe.spps.org. As a parent, you are your child’s first and most important teacher! Donald Sysyn, Supervisor Saint Paul ECFE

Saint Paul Public Schools Early Childhood Family Education Home Visitor Program ECFE provides home visits for families with children birth to kindergarten enrollment. Home visits follow the standard ECFE model. The model consists of three components: parent/child together time, parent time and child time. For parents there is developmental information and referrals to community resources. For children there are age-appropriate learning activities. The children’s learning activities support growth in the four developmental domains; cognitive, social/emotional, language and physical/motor. Home visits are for families who want more one on one interaction or may not feel comfortable in a group setting. A home visitor can come to your house once a week or every other week. The visits involve interaction between parent and child and last for about an hour. To speak to someone in: English call: Hmong call: Karen call: Somali call: Spanish call:
