The day will include a dog agility demonstration by the Minnesota Agility Club, music by the Capital City Wind Ensemble and a chicken dinner. Conclude the day with a cruise on the Jonathan Padelford. Trips and Tours

Trips and Tours St. Anthony Main Segway Tour Thursday, May 26 Course# 8032-SuSA Travel back in time on a Magical History Tour! Ride a Segway as you enjoy the history of the Minneapolis Riverfront area, from 10,000 BC to the present, without breaking a sweat. Let the Segway do the work as you cover 5-7 miles accompanied by a professional guide. Allow your guide to assist you in experiencing various eras of the river while stopping frequently at historical sites, including St. Anthony Main, the Stone Arch Bridge, Upper Lock and Dam, Boom Island, Nicollet Island, St. Anthony Falls, Mill City Museum, Hennepin Avenue Bridge, and more. Participants are required to wear a helmet, and be over 18-years-of-age.

Each Segway is limited to 280 pounds. Registration open now! Register by May 16th.

Kenyon Country Club Golf Outing Thursday, June 2 Course# 8033-SSA Built in 1926, the Kenyon Country Club is a public, nine-hole, par-34 course.

They offer a beautiful rolling hills track in a relaxed and friendly environment.

We will have a shotgun start. Bring your own clubs. Afterwards, we will enjoy lunch on your own in the clubhouse.

Trips and Tours

Trips and Tours Cirque Du Soleil: Ovo Friday, June 17 Course# 8036-SuSA This acrobatic performance is beyond belief. From trampolines and teeterboards to the flying trapeze, the artist’s performances are an ode to human effort in all its splendor. Through their acting skills, costumes, grace, dexterity and dance, it is a fusion of stage performance and physical feats that evoke emotions.

They draw inspiration from cultures from around the world to extend the boundaries of the imagination and blur the lines between artistic disciplines.

Defying the laws of gravity, diving from dizzying heights or walking the high wire – whether on stage or in a creative approach, risk-taking is built into their DNA. Registration is now open!

Fee: Fee includes ticket and transportation.

Sioux Empire Excursion Wednesday-Friday, June 22-June 24 Course# 8034-SuSA We are off to visit our Midwestern neighbors in South Dakota and Iowa. Tour stops will abound in numerous cities. Watertown, SD is the hometown of master artist Terry Redlin and the Terry Redlin Art Center, which houses over 150 of his wildlife paintings and will be our first visit. On to Brookings, SD, home of South Dakota State University. We’ll stop by stunning McCrory Gardens, 74 acres of botanical gardens and an arboretum maintained by the college’s horticultural students. We will spend the evening in Sioux Falls, SD located on the Big Sioux River. We will explore the natural side of this metropolitan area including the beautiful Falls, the Sertoma Butterfly House and Great Plains Zoo & Museum. Then on to Sioux City, IA, the historic town where the Missouri and Sioux Rivers meet. We’ll visit the new Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, as well as the new Sioux City Museum which is opening in January, 2011. Friday we will travel to the Ice Cream Capitol of the World, Le Mars, IA, home of Blue Bunny and Wells’ Dairy to visit their museum and ice cream parlor before returning to the Twin Cities. Registration is now open!

The Smithsonian Institute’s newest traveling exhibit, “The Working White House”, a behind-thescenes look at the work culture through a one-of-a-kind display of clothing, letters, photographs and eyewitness accounts from the workers themselves. The Stearns History Museum is proud to present this unique exhibit in conjunction with a lunch consisting of recipes from first ladies to presidents.

This exhibit will give us an intimate portrait of the past 200 years at the White House. A trip to Munsinger and Clemens Rose Gardens will make our fantasy trip to the White House complete.

Quilt Shop Hop Thursday, August 4 Course # 8038-SuSA Discover a patchwork of the latest in quilt prints, patterns and supplies as we travel to some of the best in the south metro area. We will be visiting Heavenly Patchwork Quilt Shop in Waconia, Eagle Creek Quilt Shop in Shakopee, Fabric Town in Apple Valley, and Quilter’s Haven in Rosemount. Remember to bring your swatches for those prints you are trying to match up. Lunch is on your own.

Trips and Tours Subterranean Twin Cities Saturday, August 13 Course # 8039-SuSA Enjoy a cave adventure based on the award-winning book, Subterranean Twin Cites.

From St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis, we will follow the Mississippi River Gorge and hear the stories the caves have to tell. You will see springs, sinkholes and the largest natural sandstone cave in the Twin Cities. Continuing into St. Paul, we will pass the largest subterranean stream that still runs under the Lowertown area, then disembark for a short hike and a picnic lunch. After driving through Mushroom Valley, with its 50 caves, we will head for the town of Hastings and visit a natural cave where you can explore on your own, before returning to the Twin Cities. Participants should be physically able to scramble along slopes and rock outcrops. The caves are usually dry, but can be wet depending on weather. Appropriate clothing and shoes, including gloves, should be worn for comfort, and you should bring a flashlight; you may want to crawl into the back of a cave! Or, you can merely sit and enjoy the view of the Vermillion River valley. You can choose your own adventure.

Scenic Highlands & Rural Experiences Wednesday, September 21 Course # 8040-SuSA The rolling hills of Trempealeau County, Wisconsin are calling. We will visit central Wisconsin to partake in some of their one-of-a-kind hidden gems. Countryside Lefse Company – food Norwegians love and the AMPI cheese plant sales room – Wisconsin’s largest plant in Blair will be just two of our stops. Our step-on-guide will lead us over the river and through the woods to places sharing the history of the people and the county. The women of one of the local churches will provide a wonderful home-cooked dinner for us. See border collies demonstrate sheep herding at the Harvest Home Farm as we travel the rural contryside of Wisconsin.

Saint Paul Community Education reserves the right to cancel classes due to lack of enrollment or emergencies.

Refunds:

•Refunds minus a $5 processing fee will only be issued if requested three (3) business days prior to the start of the first day of class.

Minnesota Summer Picnic Tuesday, June 14th Minnesota Summer Picnic Once again Community Education Senior Program and Saint Paul Park and Recreation’s Recreation for Adults 50+ Program will be teaming up for a summer day on Harriet Island. The day will include a dog agility demonstration by the Minnesota Agility Club, music by the Capital City Wind Ensemble and a chicken dinner.
