SPRING 2015

Announcing Our Indoor Air Quality Pledge

In our effort to build healthy communities, we strive to support the health of our team and the people who live in our communities by doing our part to protect indoor air quality. By choosing milder products and practices, we all breathe a little easier. We’ve been working to institute these six practices over the past two years, and we’re proud to share this effort with you! 1. Non-Toxic Interior Paint. The walls make up the largest surface area in our homes, so we use only paints containing no VOCs— volatile organic compounds. VOCs pose health risks for people and pets, so we choose VOC-free alternatives. 2. Non-Toxic Building Materials. In new construction, we choose products that minimize VOCs, and our maintenance team uses only low-VOC and no-VOC adhesives and caulk for repairs. 3. Full-Service Air Filter Replacement. Air filters in your heating and air conditioning system can catch airborne particles that can contribute to asthma and allergies. To keep your system working its best, our maintenance team will change your air filter quarterly. 4. Non-Toxic Cleaning Solutions. Our maintenance team uses the gentlest cleaning solutions possible to get the job done. When strong chemicals are occasionally required, we take the highest precautions to ensure that we protect our team and your indoor air quality. 5. Non-Smoking Communities. Smoking is not permitted indoors in any of our communities. 6. Gentle Pest Management. When pest control is required, we choose the least toxic, mildest approach possible.

Your Suggestions Lead to Improvements

Thanks to everyone who took the time to give us feedback in our resident satisfaction survey a few weeks ago! We have collected and analyzed your responses, and we’ve carefully considered each one. Your input gives us a snapshot of how we are doing, and you’ve given us great ideas for improving our properties. Here, our property managers describe some immediate reactions to what we heard from you. NORTH CREEKSIDE APARTMENTS Many of you had comments and suggestions about laundry facilities. In the short term, we have stepped up housekeeping in our laundry facilities, and we are researching options for upgrading laundry equipment. The survey also picked up a few requests for maintenance, which we addressed immediately. We’re really thankful for your survey responses, but please don’t wait until the next survey to let us know if something needs our maintenance team’s attention. Give us a call or email, and we’ll take care of you! Kendra Butterfield, Property Manager

The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.” Alfred Austin

DINNER WINNER!

WILLOW PARK APARTMENTS Two issues rose to the top with neighbors at Willow Park: dog waste and recycling. In response to your concerns, we have installed six pet waste stations throughout the grounds. We have been working with the City of Fayetteville since last summer to institute on-site recycling, and we’ve arrived at a workable plan. Look for a recycling station to arrive soon, as well as a new bin or bag for each apartment. Gabriel Soto, Property Manager ECO MODERN FLATS Several of you wanted more ways to connect with your neighbors. Check your email for details of the new Community Builders program, launching March 13 with a chocolate and bubbly party at the home of Grant and Afsaneh Roe. We are also revamping the community garden program to create more hands-on opportunities for you to work alongside your neighbors to grow your own veggies. Happy Hour by the pool events will start up again when the weather warms. I hope to see you at one of these events! Alicia Morales, Property Manager
