hen clients decided to invest in some home improvement projects recently, they gave me a call: What’s going to give us the greatest return on investment when we sell? What sort of budget should we set for ourselves? The new Remodeling Cost vs Value 2016 report takes some of the guesswork out of Kim Wesselman the decision. Windermere The report, produced annually Real Estate by Remodeling Magazine, looked at the cost of 27 popular remodeling projects and the retained value of those projects when homes are sold. Data (e.g. local construction costs, home sale values) is gathered from 100 markets across the country and Seattle specifically. It will be no surprise to you that our hot real estate market makes Seattle one of the best cities in the U.S. when it comes to return on remodeling investment.

Biggest Bang for the Buck? According to the report’s Seattle data, 10 of the 27 projects study would recoup more than 100 percent of costs.
