NOW MORE THAN EVER, IT IS CLEAR HOW MUCH WE RELY UPON THE COMMUNITIES WE LIVE IN.
From the local businesses who are able to stay open offering us groceries and pick up meals, to the front line workers at our local clinics and hospitals.
We think it would be a great idea to thank those in our community and recognize those people for all they do. If you would like to thank someone who has shown kindness to others, or give a shout out to your local grocery store, restaurant, retail or health care workers serving the Queen Anne and Magnolia area, we are offering 1/8 page size ads for only $25 (black and white) every week in the newspaper. The ads will all appear in a special THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY page. Space deadlines are every Wednesday at 10am for the following week’s newspaper. Please email your request to ppcadmanager@nwlink.com or call 206-461-1322, leave us a message and someone will return your call to get the details.

The Reimagine Magnolia Beautification Committee members will take a welcome break this summer after meeting the fundraising goal to complete Phases 2 and 3 of the village streetscape improvements.
The Beautification Committee reached the $305,000 amount needed to complete the next two phases thanks to community donations, including those raised during the “I’m All In, Are You?” campaign, and a well-timed grant from the Department of Neighborhoods, Chairperson Cheryl McQuiston said.
“We never intended, you know, to get phases 2 and 3 together. We had always intended them to be a year apart, but we deciced we had a good thing going, so we just decided to go for it,” McQuiston said. June started out strong as the committee met its communitywide fundraising goal to match
two $10,000 donations, for a total of $20,000, by June 5. McQuiston said the committee pulled in $26,000 for that campaign and had further cause to celebrate after learning the City of Seattle awarded Magnolia $43,355 from the Seattle Depart-

QA&Mag News editor After a month’s delay because of posting errors, the developer and architects involved on the Magnolia Albertsons project will have their day in front of the Design Review Board next week. The development plans call for the demolition of the existing Albertsons, 2550 32nd Ave. N., and the construction of a sevenstory development with a Safeway grocery below and 133 living units above, parking for 221 cars, a public square and a building design that incorporates aspects of the natural geography of the neighborhood, as well as features that allow for interaction with nature. John Marasco, chief development officer for Security Properties, the project’s developer, said the design team will give a presentation about the newest design for the project and all the changes made before at the virtual meeting June 23. The goal is for the Design Review Board to recommend issuance of the master use permit. “It’s been over two years that we introduced the project (in the community), and it has morphed

to start construction in the second quarter of 2022, Marasco said. Unlike other grocery and housing combination developments in Seattle, this building is intended to take advantage of the city’s
