AGV celebrates its 70th anniversary

Everything began immediately after the Second World War when AGV in 1946 started out as manufacturer of leather seats and bicycle saddles. It was in 1947 that Amisano Gino from Valenza, the historical founder (hence the name AGV), entered into the motorcycle helmets world; an important step which gained since the beginning unprecedented commercial success together with the chance of being part of sport competitions. In 1969 AGV developed the first fiberglass full-face helmet. Since the beginning, AGV’s history has been directly linked to the one of riders who have made the motorcycle history: Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts, Angel Nieto, Marco Lucchinelli, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet, Emerson Fittipaldi,

Randy Mamola, Loris Capirossi, Max Biaggi, Valentino Rossi and many others. The Pista GP was created in 2012 as the first of a new generation of helmets from the AGV Extreme Standards project. This process revolutionised helmet design and test methods and, from the outset, the clear aim was to significantly and demonstrably improve rider protection, ergonomics and comfort. NEW STANDARDS OF COMFORT Sets new standards of comfort and fit following extensive wind tunnel, static and dynamic tests.

A helmet that sits properly on the riderâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s head without being too tight, with an efficient but quiet ventilation system is a safer helmet as it allows the rider to focus his concentration on riding the bike.

The shape and size of the visor perfectly match performance and ergonomic requirements.

PERFORMANCE

Exceeds the requirements of the most severe protection standards, proven in Finite Elements Method virtual crash tests (FEM) and laboratory tests.

COMPACT DESIGN

FIELD OF VISION

The design process starts from the riderâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s head which is very accurately measured using a series of anthropometric parameters and laser scans.

OUTSTANDING PROTECTION

The Finite Elements Method (FEM) analysis makes it possible to perform crash test and helmet strength simulations before making the physical moulds. This sophisticated method enables us to achieve a helmet that is light and compact, yet simultaneously offers outstanding impact absorption, with safety margins that comfortably exceed the requirements of the homologations standard.

AERODYNAMICS

The aerodynamics have been validated using wind tunnel testing and it is optimised using dedicated Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation software.

LIGHTWEIGHT

In accordance with the principles of the AGV Extreme Standards, the components of the helmet have been designed to ensure the required performance levels, whilst reducing the weight as much as possible. The whole helmet is light and highly shock resistant. The optimisation of the weight reduces muscle fatigue in the neck region, and ensures that the driver remains concentrated, relaxed and safe while driving, both on the track and on the road.

The structure offers an extremely compact and light helmet with unmatched safety performance. • Shell shape is designed to maximize aerodynamic performance and to minimize the risk of impact energies being channeled to the collar bone. Rear shape is engineered to minimize interference with racing suit in racing position. • IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) ventilation with 5 large front vents and 2 rear extractors hollowed in the shell which direct air to the rider’s head. The unique central upper air intake has been strategically placed in highest air pressure point to capture maximum air flow. • New Moto GP developed metal air vents, combines unique strength and protection with an innovative external fins structure engineered to capture maximum airflow in the front of the shell and increase air pressure on the rear exhaust, therefore incrementing the speed of air transition inside the helmet, leading to an higher cooling performance. New internal chin channels distribute the air flow evenly through the entire visor surface. Vents covers are included in the box. • New wind tunnel tested Biplano spoiler features multiple wings to maximize aerodynamic performance, optimize CX, stabilizing the helmet during high speed riding in any conditions. Biplano spoiler is engineered to detach from the helmet in case of an accident, therefore maintaining helmet’s round shape for increased safety. • Moto GP developed interiors engineered for maximum performance on the track with a patented structure that allows riders to optimize fit and select helmet height positioning over the head. Developed with top riders, the neck roll offers easy entry, maximum ventilation and adaptable fit. Different thickness crown pad and cheek pads inserts are included in the box, allowing the rider to adapt the helmet fit. Removable nose guard and wind protector. • The inner of the helmet is designed to offer the highest riding comfort without any stitches in sensitive areas. All parts are easily removable and washable.

A tear-off kit is included in the box. • Patented Visor Lock System (VLS) reduces the risk of accidental opening in the event of an accident: visor thickness is from 4 to 5 mm, increasing face and eyes protection in the case of an accident. • Exclusive metal visor mechanism in metal with roto-translation movement achieves total sealing between visor and shell. Tools free rapid visor release system allows the visor to be removed and replaced in seconds. Construction of the new interior results in a smooth, pressure-free fit, and the patented reversible crown pad features two distinct fabrics, allowing riders to select between warmer and cooler side depending on conditions or personal preference. TEC HNICAL F EATU R ES • Shell in CAAF (Carbon-Aramidic-Fiberglass) engineered in 4 sizes with 5-density EPS structure developed in 4 sizes. • Shell shape is designed to maximize aerodynamic performance and to minimize the risk of impact energies being channeled to the collar bone. Rear shape is engineered to minimize interference with racing suits structures in racing position. • IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) ventilation with 5 large front vents and 2 rear extractors hollowed in the shell which direct air to the rider’s head. The unique central upper air intake has been strategically placed to capture maximum air flow in highest air pressure point. All the air vents are adjustable. • New internal chin channels distribute the air flow evenly through the entire visor surface. • The wind tunnel tested spoiler maximizes aerodynamic performance and stability during high speed riding. The spoiler is engineered to detach from the helmet in case of an accident, therefore maintaining helmet’s round shape for increased safety. • New Corsa R interiors construction is engineered to allow a stable, embracing and pressure free fit and to maximize dynamic comfort. Removable nose guard and wind protector. • Patented reversible crown pad features a double face use that allows rider to select the preferred feel and climate: ○○ Warmer Side: with Shalimar fabric for a soft and gentle touch ○○ Cooler Side: with Ritmo fabric for a fluid and fresh fit

• The inner of the helmet is designed to offer the highest riding comfort. All parts are easily removable and washable. ○○ Neck roll: Shalimar and Nabuk fabric with water resistant treatment, preventing water to be channeled inside the helmet. ○○ Cheek pads: Ritmo fabric with Sanitized® (antibacterial protection), 2Dry (moisture wicking) and Microsense (premium skin comfort and wearing fluidity) treatments. ○○ Crown pad: Shalimar (warmer side) and Ritmo (cooler side) with the same treatments listed for check pads. • New Patented cheek pads safety release system engineered to remove conveniently cheek pads in case of accident. • New Class Optic 1 visor with 100% Max Vision Pinlock® (120) anti fog technology is designed for maximum vertical view on racing position (85°) and unmatched horizontal view (190°). Visor is anti-scratch and ready for track use tear-off. A tear-off kit is included in the box. • Patented Visor Lock System (VLS) reduces the risk of accidental opening in the event of an accident: visor thickness is from 4 to 5 mm, increasing face and eyes protection in the case of an accident. • Unique Metal visor mechanism in metal with roto-translation movement for total sealing between visor and shell. Rapid visor release system requiring no tools and allowing the visor to be removed and replaced in seconds. AGV’s latest version of this premium sport helmet now features a new construction for the inner liner, designed with high-performance fabrics and with no stitching in sensitive areas, making for an extremely comfortable fit. The lightweight shell is made from a carbon-fiberglass mix, while stability and aerodynamic performance are maximized thanks to an incorporated spoiler. The Integrated Ventilation System (IVS) has vents that are hollowed into the shell, and there’s also an internal drop-down sun visor, a removable nose guard and a new wind protector that keeps noise to a minimum.

TEC HNICAL F EATU R ES • Shell in CAF (Carbon-Fiberglass) engineered in 2 sizes with 4-density EPS structure developed in 4 sizes. • IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) ventilation with 5 large front vents and 2 rear extractors hollowed in the shell which direct air to the rider’s head. The central upper air intake has been strategically placed to capture maximum air flow without interference with the internal sun visor. All the air vents and extractors are adjustable. • The spoiler integrated in the shell profile maximizes aerodynamic performance and stability • New K-5 S interiors construction is engineered to allow a stable, embracing and pressure free fit and to maximize dynamic comfort. Removable nose guard and new wind protector which reduces the noise level. • The inner of the helmet is designed to offer the highest riding comfort without any stitches in sensitive areas. All parts are easily removable and washable. ○○ Neck roll: Shalimar fabric with water resistant treatment, preventing water to be channeled inside the helmet. It features reflective inserts for a increased visibility in low light conditions. ○○ Cheek pads: Ritmo fabric with Sanitized® (antibacterial protection), 2Dry (moisture wicking) and Microsense (premium skin comfort and wearing fluidity) treatments. ○○ Crown pad: Shalimar with the same treatments listed for check pads. • Anti-scratch visor with Pinlock® anti fog technology is designed for maximum vertical and lateral visibility. The visor is available in 2 different sizes to optimize the match between visor and shell in any size and to reduce air drafts and noise. • Visor micro-opening system. Double D retention system. Ready for generic communication system. Integrated anti-scratch sun visor, removable without using tools. • Patented XQRS (Extra Quick Release System) visor mechanism with multiple steps. Two mechanisms to change the visor steps option are included in the box.

The structure offers an extremely safe and compact helmet with unmatched lightweight • Chin guard in 100% Carbon Fiber engineered to guarantee maximum lightweight and balance even in the open configuration • Shell shape is designed to minimize the risk of impact energies being channeled to the collar bone • The metal chin guard opening system is designed to prevent accidental openings • IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) ventilation with a large front vent, a chin guard vent and a rear extractor hollowed in the shell which direct air to the rider’s head without interference with the internal sun visor. • Internal chin channels distribute the air flow evenly through the entire visor surface. • Shell shape is designed to maximize aerodynamic performance and to have zero dynamic weight at 130 km/h (80 mph) • The adjustable integrated spoiler reduces turbulence and maximizes stability • SportModular interiors’ construction is engineered to allow an embracing, pressure-free fit and to reduce the noise inside the helmet. TEC HNICAL F EATU R ES • Shell in HIR-TH (High Resistance Thermoplastic Resin) with 4-density EPS structure developed in 2 sizes. • The chin guard mechanism is designed to allow a compact design in “jet” configuration • The metal chin guard block system ensures the double homologation P/J. • IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) ventilation with 4 large front vents and 2 lateral extractors hollowed in the shell which direct air to the rider’s head. All the air vents are adjustable. • New Compact ST interiors construction is engineered to allow a stable, embracing and pressure free fit and to maximize dynamic comfort. Removable nose guard and new wind protector which reduces the noise level. • The inner of the helmet is designed to offer the highest riding comfort without any stitches in sensitive areas. All parts are easily removable and washable. ○○ Neck roll: Shalimar fabric with water resistant treatment, preventing water to be channeled inside the helmet. It features reflective inserts for a increased visibility in low light conditions. ○○ Cheek pads: Ritmo fabric with Sanitized® (antibacterial protection), 2Dry (moisture wicking) and Microsense (premium skin comfort and wearing fluidity) treatments. ○○ Crown pad: Shalimar with the same treatments listed for check pads. • Anti-scratch visor with Pinlock® anti fog technology is designed for maximum vertical and lateral visibility. • Patented XQRS (Extra Quick Release System) visor mechanism with multiple steps. Finite Element Method (F.E.M.) analysis has kept the size and weight of the helmet to a minimum, while simultaneously increasing its impact absorption and aerodynamic performance.

Fully removable and washable inner components. EPS components feature easy-wash plastic covers. Air vent easily removed for cleaning.

Featuring an advanced CarbonAramidic-Fiberglass shell that comes in three sizes with 5-density EPS structure that comes in four, the AX-8 Evo offers a fit for every head, from XXS all the way to XXXL.

A chin guard air vent, four crown vents and four side vents bring a constant flow of fresh air into the helmet, while five outlet vents allow the warm humid air inside the helmet to flow out.

AGV’s flagship off-road helmet, the super-lightweight AX-8 EVO has a carbon-aramid-fiberglass shell with a shape that’s designed to minimize the risk of injuries caused by force being transferred to the collarbone, and it’s optimized for use with neck braces. The bottom of the chin guard has a rubber cushion for impact absorption, and the nose guard is removable.
