Beekeeping in Paris Our world has been undergoing drastic change and during the past decade and a noticeable decline in pollinator species, including bees, has been observed. In Paris, more than 700 beehives exist in parks, gardens and on building rooftops. Being from Canada were there is ample space, I had never observed beehives in public spaces or on rooftops and I found it to be an intersting strategy. The parks and gardens within Paris provide habitat (food and shelter) for honeybees within an urban setting. Groups and apiary schools work towards increasing and protecting bees by providing education to people, suitable habitat for bees in an urban setting as well as a connection between people and nature.
Biography I am a photographer from British Columbia, Canada. Growing up in the mountains and being surrounded by nature shaped my future. I first pursued a career in environmental science before deciding that my desire to be creative and love for photography was greater. While I am curious about many things, I aim to merge my passions (science, nature and photography) by creating stories that show the positive impact of science and the value of nature through my photography. I am interested in documenting nature and our connection with it. © Linda HARRISON, all rights reserved www.lindaharrisonphotography.com linda.d.harrison@gmail.com
