JASPER FIERLINGER
Art is a reflection of lived experience. As a young artist, I often ruminate on the idea of self expression and my creative identity. My artistic vision feels ephemeral, malleable - constantly evolving in harmony with the novelty inherent to youth. This project began as an experimental approach to documenting the creative process of artists. But over time, I realised that photography is not an omnipotent medium; that it cannot always illustrate what is intangible and abstract. Through the process of experimenting and adapting to this realisation and by engaging with each artist, I have succeeded in discovering my own creative process. Via mixed media collaboration, I have intertwined the narrative of artists with my own, creating a tangible, artistic dialogue. Each photograph and each artwork are like petals of a tree of experimentation falling onto the ground, uncovering new spaces for me to wander and illuminate what I want to express through art.
What you’re witnessing is merely the physical outcome. The process of creating and engaging was to me the art itself.

Biography
Jasper Fierlinger (B. 2003), is a New Zealand born multidisciplinary artist based in Paris, France. The artist primarily experiments with mixed media and alternative photographic conventions including liquid emulsion, decal transfer, and projection. Inherently in his works, physical remnants of the creative process are left unconcealed: an inquiry into the nature of the medium, the conceptual, and the abstract.
