JUDE TURNER - SPICERS FOUNDER

Growing up in Warwick, Jude Turner has deep roots in the bush. When the opportunity arose to purchase land for a weekend farmhouse, Jude and her husband ‘Skroo’ acquired the land now known as Spicers Peak Station.

With the busyness of life continuing unabated, an idea began to formulate - a collection of unique destinations showcasing amazing Australian locations without sacrificing good food and wine, and the relaxed luxury and service found in great hotels around the world.

Jude’s passion for sharing the natural environment remains as strong as ever, with a focus on preserving it for generations to come - particularly her two grown children and three grandchildren.

The Spicers Sustainability Minimum Standards have been formed in alignment with the relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals, with measurable and achievable targets specific to each Retreat. Our commitment to buying local, sourcing ethically and sustainably grown ingredients for our restaurants, and in products and processes that help us reduce, reuse and recycle.

We also partner with suppliers and organisations who share our commitment to sustainability, constantly working to minimise our impact on the environments we are so privileged to enjoy.

Each Retreat regularly reviews performance to track improvements and identify new opportunities to grow our impact year on year, working towards our goals of removing all single use plastics from our sites and sending zero waste to landfill by 2025 and producing zero net emissions from energy by 2030. We’re also working towards reducing our water use by 25% by 2025.

At the heart of Spicers Retreats is a love for the environment and a deep desire to see people experience the wonder of nature in a sustainable way, without sacrificing luxury in the process.

The eight one bedroom Balfour Suites, located in the Simla building, are as spacious as they are luxurious. Privately secluded from the rest of the property, the cottage has a communal guest lounge with an open fireplace and a private dining area where you can enjoy award winning cuisine from our onsite restaurant. Scattered amongst picturesque country gardens are elegant cottages dating back to the 1800s which have been beautifully restored into guest accommodation.

The 34 rooms and suites feature verandas with sweeping country views and open fireplaces, each with their own unique character. The four suites are stand-alone cottages with a separate lounge room and French doors opening out onto valley views.

LOCATION

Located in the Lockyer Valley region, Spicers Hidden Vale is only an hour’s drive from Brisbane, one hour from Toowoomba and Wellcamp Airport, and 90 minutes from the Gold Coast.

Private transfers can be arranged from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. For those with limited time, charter helicopter transfers can be booked to and from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast Airports.

HIDDEN VALE ADVENTURE PARK

With over 110 kilometres of worldclass mountain bike trails, Hidden Vale Adventure Park (HVAP) offers a unique outdoor experience to guests. Trails cater for all levels of experience and a range of mountain bikes are available for hire from the trailhead. HVAP also offers Polaris ATV transfers from the trailhead to a number of the higher elevation points throughout the park.

EVENTS

Perfect for small to medium sized events, the Retreat offers a host of on-site meeting rooms with natural light and fresh country air.

The Laidley Room is situated at the top of the property and offers a deck area for enjoying meals and breaks. All popular set up styles are available and include AV equipment, video conferencing facilities and complimentary WiFi.

The Grandchester Room sits towards the property entrance with plenty of room to move, being the largest space to meet. It offers natural light, fresh air and a lounge area for an informal breakout. All conference facilities feature AV equipment, video conferencing facilities and complimentary WiFi.

The Barn, including a festoon lit courtyard, is the ideal spot for a private dinner or cocktail function for up to 80 delegates.

Completely rebuilt in 2020, the Boardroom in the Homestead provides a comfortable and private meeting space including integrated AV and closed loop hearing system.

DINING

HOMAGE RESTAURANT

As the name suggests, Homage pays respect to the land, the local farmers and the produce itself. Created around the paddock to plate philosophy, the menu is inspired by the abundant local produce. From fresh seasonal vegetables picked from our market garden to local freshwater cray and beef from our neighbouring farmers, this is dining in its purest form.

Homage offers a menu that heroes produce grown in our garden or locally sourced. Homage is open for dinner 7 nights a week. A 2 or 3 course à la carte lunch menu is also available from Wednesday-Sunday, and a light lunch menu is available from Monday-Tuesday.

THE BARN RESTAURANT

Looking for something more low-key but just as flavourful? The Barn is casual dining at its finest. Embodying the Homage ethos of honouring the land, the people and the produce, The Barn serves simple and satisfying dishes with distinctive flavours in a relaxed setting. Open 11:30am-4:00pm Friday-Sunday.

Perched atop a mountain on 8,000 acres in Queensland’s High Country, enveloped by the World Heritage Listed Main Range National Park and the Great Dividing Range, Spicers Peak Lodge offers an exclusive, intimate Australian wilderness lodge experience.

The Lodge sits 1,100 metres above sea level with views across to the surrounding peaks. From untouched rainforest and rugged mountain escarpments to the pristine backdrop of a World

Heritage Listed National Park and ancient volcanic regions, there is no shortage of unspoiled wilderness to experience and admire.

The architecturally designed Lodge is an eclectic mix of contemporary and classic design and has been created with its stunning natural environment in mind.

ACCOMMODATION

The Lodge’s suites provide an ideal escape with uninterrupted views of the world below. Centuryold Scottish bluestone and wide recycled timber floorboards add a touch of style and sophistication to the uniquely relaxing ambiance.

The Lodge Suites in the main building are spacious with open fireplaces, private verandas and some with large spa baths. Our Spa Suites enjoy the same outlook and amenities as the Lodge Suites, with the addition of large spa baths. The two Loft Suites boast elevated views with cosy reading nooks and direct access to the mezzanine library.

Perched on the edge of the escarpment are two luxurious,

private standalone lodges, featuring separate lounge rooms and outdoor spas, open fireplaces and private verandas with panoramic views of Spicers Gap. Children are catered for in the private lodges only.

An in-room mini bar is included as part of the stay, and is replenished daily with premium inclusions.

The Boardroom is situated in the main lodge with access to the guest lounge and private terrace veranda. This room is ideal for private board meetings with AV facilities and complimentary WiFi.

The Private Dining Room is situated next to the main restaurant and can be used for a meetings or private group dining. French doors open to the terrace offering spectacular views while the double sided fireplace warms the room.

DINING

All meals are included with both à la carte and degustation menus available for evening dining. All soft drinks, tea and coffee are included, as well as wine and spirits from our extensive house wine list, including Champagne.

The Peak showcases the best of Australian produce to deliver the “Best of Australia’’ on plate. To compliment our cuisine, our Sommelier has designed our wine list to provide the “Best of Australia” in a glass.

Three Victorian terrace houses have been meticulously restored with their immaculate facades fronting one of Sydney’s most picturesque avenues. Arriving at the entrance of this historic yet modern boutique hotel feels like coming home.

The interior is light-filled, drawing inspiration from Sydney’s iconic beaches and ocean. Visitors to the hotel can enjoy a drink at the reception bar, breakfast in the Garden Room or even host a small meeting in the Victoria & Albert room.

With 16 luxuriously appointed rooms and four suites, Spicers Potts Point is an intimate innercity hotel unlike anything else in Sydney. The hotel offers a range of accommodation options, each with modern fittings and furnishings such as rain showers, Bose sound systems and working space. With a light, airy and generous feel, Spicers Potts Point features two Queen, 11 King and three Luxe King rooms ranging in size from 19sqm to 36sqm, while our spacious Victoria and Victoria Terrace Suites are 43sqm. Our Victoria Terrace Suites also feature a private second floor terrace.

Spicers Potts Point is unique amongst the Spicers group in that it does not offer a restaurant, however, we have an onsite chef to ensure your team enjoys satisfying food at your next conference, meeting or event.

DINING

The ever-changing menu at Amara is inspired by fresh, organic, seasonal produce sourced locally from farmers and producers within our community. Our chefs believe in hearty food, full of flavour and colour. Every day the Amara team creates a dinner Tasting Menu based on the freshest organic and seasonal produce available within 100km (or one-hour drive) of the Retreat, among the historic and highly fertile Hawkesbury region.

Guests are invited to dine under the stars to make the most of our unique locale and in winter, they can enjoy an aperitif or roast marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit.

ACCOMMODATION

The 45 thoughtfully appointed rooms and stand-alone four bedroom cottage feature a neutral palette of timber and stone, interwoven by rich ink tones and subtle accents inspired by the natural colours of the Hunter Valley. Rooms are situated within three wings - Hunter, Valley and Garden - each with a guest lounge. Ground floor rooms open onto a terrace, while first floor rooms provide elevated views of the property and bushland. The guest rooms feature appointments such as Bose sound systems and Nespresso coffee machines.

The four bedroom stand alone cottage features a full kitchen, dining and lounge area with a generous wrap-around veranda. Overlooking a private garden, the cottage is located just a short walk

Perfect for medium-sized events, the Retreat offers a variety of spaces featuring an abundance of natural light.

The Tallawanta Room is a standalone building catering for up to 120 people. With bi-fold doors opening onto a veranda, the building also features a private functions bar and characterfilled foyer space perfect for greeting guests.

Located in the Hunter wing, the Hunter Room accommodates up to 50 people. The room adjoins an intimate breakout space and is also close to the guest lounge. The Hunter Room features AV equipment, video conferencing facilities and complimentary WiFi.

The Lovedale Room is a light filled event space, suitable for wedding ceremonies or relaxed cocktail style events for up to 80 people.

The Private Dining Room features a wine wall for locals to house their favourite drop, a stone fireplace and an extendable table, with seating for up to 14 guests. Adjacent to the Gazebo is the Mountain View Lawn, a pergola and lawn terrace ideal for prearrival gatherings and group activities.

The Ironbark Pavillion is an open air hardwood building featuring wood-burning fireplace and flexible seating arrangements with mountain views. The pavillion features drop-down canvas sides, ideal for cooler days.

DINING

Produce from local growers is prepared with a touch of ceremony by our hosts in the openplan kitchen. In the warmer months, guests are invited to dine on the outdoor deck beneath the stars or exchange tall tales around the fire with fellow guests. In winter, the fireplace is stoked, with hearty meals served in the warmth of the communal lodge building.

Spicers Hidden Peaks is located 90 minutes from Brisbane, in a unique bush location that sits in the foothills of the Main Range National Park. The cabins are located on 250 acres of private bushland, allowing guests space to explore the area.

Constructed from native hardwood, the cabins feature ensuites while the main lodge contains a communal kitchen and dining area with sliding doors that open onto a comfortable deck. The courtyard fire pit is perfect to gather around at night.

Spicers Hidden Peaks features seven cabins with either a queen Spicers bed and single bunk or twin singles (two cabins can be made into twin single beds).
