land, he would have been put into a parachute and tossed overboard.
Early on the morning of July 13th 1919 the R34, as long as two football pitches and over 90 feet high, descended at Pulham in Norfolk. For the crew it was the end of an historic 6,000 mile voyage.
“We feel in a world of our own up here amidst this dazzling array of snow-white clouds. No words can express the wonder, the grandeur, or the loneliness of it all; one must experience these joys for oneself before one can even begin to realize them.”
Since leaving East Fortune in Scotland 11 days earlier they had completed the first east-west crossing of the Atlantic by air, as well as the first round trip across the ocean. Indeed, had it not been for some minor damage during a trial flight, the R34 would have made the first ever airborne Atlantic crossing. The delay gave Alcock and Brown their chance. The airship’s voyage is known largely through the Log, written by General Maitland. It was a naval airship, with army ranks and RAF rondels. Maitland describes the awesome feelings of a night lift-off in a huge dirigible: “When flying at night, possibly on the account of the darkness, there is always a feeling of utter loneliness directly one loses sight of the ground. We feel this loneliness very much tonight; possibly owing to the fact that we are bound for a totally unknown destination across the wide Atlantic. Such a feeling is only momentary, however, and is soon dispelled by the immediate need for action.”
Fuel was running seriously low by the time the airship approached the USA; but it landed safely. One Officer had to parachute down to organize mooring. He was immediately surrounded by reporters asking for his first impressions of America. “Hard,” he said. New York took the crew to its heart; and there were even attempted female stowaways on the return voyage. With the prevailing winds behind them it was quicker coming home, landing after 3 days 3 hours and 3 minutes. To this day nobody knows why the airship was re-directed to Pulham rather than East Fortune. Published by Town & Country Printers of Diss, the book costs £5.99 from the museum and bookshops, phone (01379) 650618, or see www.disscommunity.net
The ship had a cat, Wopsie, and also a stowaway. Billy Ballantyne, a Geordie, had been been disappointed at being left behind and took matters into his own hands. When he was discovered, Maitland told him that, if they had still been over 04 | August 2015

DISS Jackamans Solicitors Domestic Abuse isn’t just on Coronation Street Sadly incidents of domestic abuse are rising. In the UK an incident of domestic abuse is reported to the police every minute. Nearly one million people experience domestic abuse each year and one in four women experiences domestic abuse over their lifetime. It is important to remember that domestic abuse is suffered by men as well as women. Once again Coronation Street is hitting the headlines with dramatic scenes involving Leanne and her step son Simon and - in a shocking twist - Simon is the perpetrator. This is not the first time Coronation Street scriptwriters have focused on such a major sensitive issue - a few years ago we saw Tyrone Dobbs become a victim at the hands of his abusive wife Kirsty.
In a recent survey of reported incidents of domestic abuse 81% of victims were women and 19% were men. Domestic abuse is serious and sometimes deadly. It ruins lives, breaks up families and has a lasting impact for each individual involved. It can affect individuals in any community, regardless of age, status, race, religion, nationality, education or background. There are times when victims do not want to involve the police through fear of repercussions, but they need to find protection and can look to the Family Court for a solution. The Family Law Act 1996 provides a remedy, with an injunction called a Non Molestation Order. An application supported by a witness statement is made to the
Family Court and is heard by an experienced Judge. This procedure can take place relatively quickly and an injunction can usually be obtained within a few hours of making the application. In most cases, the District Judge will hear the initial application in private in his Chambers and will be sympathetic. Very often the Applicant will not be required to speak or give any additional evidence. The Judge will ask the solicitor to present the application and any questions will be directed to the solicitor. The interim injunction will give immediate protection against further domestic abuse and will remain in place for a period of time usually anything between 6 and 12 months. If the perpetrator breaches the order it
is a criminal offence and they can be arrested and may be sent to prison. Jackamans has a specialist team dealing with domestic abuse applications which can deal with emergencies quickly and efficiently. We have a 24 hour domestic abuse helpline number for clients. For a free noobligation meeting/chat please contact Claire Kean on 01379 643555 or email claire.kean@ jackamans.co.uk. DISS East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) Business boost needed for Norfolk children’s hospice dream East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is calling for local businesses to join other companies from across Norfolk to help those who need it most. The nook business network is a corporate scheme which will help EACH deliver a new purposebuilt children’s hospice in the heart of Norfolk. The scheme has been developed to encourage local companies - whether small, medium or large- to commit to raising either £10,000, £15,000 or £25,000 over the duration of the appeal in return for a number of benefits from the charity. A range of business from across the county have already signed up to the network pledging their support for the campaign including: Watton-based family company, The Abel Group, which includes house builder Abel Homes and renewable energy company Abel Energy, has signed up to be part

Mark said: “The support offered by EACH to families during incredibly difficult times is absolutely incredible and it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to help create a purpose built facility to enable EACH to continue its work in our community for generations to come.”
Mattressman are promoting the appeal in their 14 stores across East Anglia, as well creating a unique children’s mattress with a percentages of sales coming directly to EACH.
Gary Cook, the nook appeal corporate fundraiser, said: “We’re looking to Norfolk’s businesses to help make our vision of a new purpose built children’s hospice in the heart of Norfolk a reality.
Courtesy Taxis in Prince of Wales Road, Norwich have been proactively promoting the appeal to their customers and corporate clients using the TV screens in their waiting room. They also held a family fun day to raise valuable funds.
“Many businesses in the county rely on local people for their income, so it would be great if they were able to invest time and effort into the nook business network to give something back to their local community. We already have great support from the business community, of which we’re incredibly grateful, but there are countless other businesses out there that we’ve yet to engage with and hope this new scheme is an attraction for them.

DISS Sound Sleep Beds We spend a third of our lives asleep, is your mattress up to the challenge? For most of us a third of our life is spent asleep, meaning the wear on our mattress over time is considerable, yet a staggering 25% of people wouldn’t consider changing their mattress – even after more than 10 years. It is hardly surprising then that 58% of the population complain of waking feeling stiff and achy. How do you know if you need to replace your bed? • Is your bed more than 7 years old? • Is it uncomfortable? Or when you sleep in someone else’s bed, does that feel better than your own? • Do you wake in the morning with a painful back or stiff limbs? • Can you feel the springs beneath the surface of the mattress? • Do you and your partner roll together? • Is your mattress just generally warn and discoloured? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then it could be time to invest in a new bed! The key with mattress buying is to try out as wide a variety of options as possible to find the most suitable mattress for you (and your partner). Given the amount of time you spend in bed, it is important to spend a reasonable amount of time in store trying out new ones, especially if you have been experiencing pains that could come from your existing
mattress. It this instance, it may be worth having a chat with your chiropractor for some advice on what they advise is suitable for your back. At Sound Sleep, we stock a variety of brands and different types of mattresses, for example pocket sprung, memory foam, latex and so on. Each manufacturer has different mattresses that offer different levels of support and comfort. When mattress shopping, it is essential to ask for help. We are highly trained mattress specialists and are on hand to advise you, not to high pressure you in to buying something that may not be suitable. How do I know which one is right for me?
advised mattresses for as long as possible to get a good ‘feel’ for them. Remember comfort is very subjective. Some people like the sensation of being cocooned in a bed; others prefer to lie on top of them. Back sleepers may like a firmer feel than those that like to sleep on their sides. There are lots of ‘feels’ in store, we are here to help you find what works best for you. If you sleep together, shop together Always shop with your partner, the bed must be suitable for both of you. As it is inevitable one of you may have to compromise! Size matters
A mattress that is supportive and comfortable is important, but remember, your requirement for support will differ depending on your weight and build. The best bed for your back is not always a firm one. You need a bed that will provide the right support and comfort for you. When laying on your side, ideally your spine should be parallel to the mattress and your spine should not sag down or bow up. Trying them out Give your self plenty of time and wear loose clothing, this helps you turn and get in and out of beds in store. Our Mattress Specialists will point you in the right direction. Try the
It is scientifically proven that couples sleep better in a bigger bed. The more space you have the freer you can move without disturbing your partner. This is also a good idea if one or both of you get hot in bed. You should be able to lie side by side, with your arms behind your head and your elbows out, without touching each other. Did you know that two people sharing a standard sized double bed only have as much personal sleeping space as a baby in a cot?
not essential. Our mattress specialists will ask questions about your existing base, most bedsteads in good condition will be suitable for a new mattress. However, old divan bases, especially those that are sprung will more than likely need replacing as they could cause harm to your new mattress, in turn affecting the level of support that the new mattress will provide and could also invalidate manufacturers’ warranties and guarantees. Look for the NBF Mark of Approval For added reassurance that the bed you are buying is safe, clean and honest (meaning it is what it says it is) then look for the Approved logo which can be found on all beds at Sound Sleep. All members of the trade association, the National Bed Federation (NBF) must be independently audited to ensure they follow the procedures that comply with flammability, health and hygiene and trade descriptions regulations. More info at www.bedfed.org.uk Now that you have chosen a new mattress, don’t forget that pillows are very important too. A cheap, unsupportive pillow can cause neck and back problems. These are just as important as your new mattress.
Check your base It is always advisable to purchase a new mattress and divan base together, but

ATTLEBOROUGH Kerry Butcher Accountancy Services There is lots going on in the world of tax and finance at the moment August is always a funny month every year I always think. When I was a kid I used to love August because it was the only month of the year when you NEVER had to go to school. Not that I didn’t like school, I really did, but somehow the summer holidays just seemed to stretch on forever, long summer days going out and having picnic, doing whatever you liked – coming home late and having no routine at all.
Other good news includes working parents receiving up to 30 hours per week free child care for 3-4 year olds from September 2017, changes in inheritance tax including a new main residence allowance and a freeze in fuel duty for the remainder of the year!
I’m guessing it probably wasn’t quite as good as I remembered, no doubt it did rain, it was cloudy and there were wasps, ants and I probably was bored some of the time (just ask my Mum!)
The Employment Allowance increasing to £3,000 from April 2016 (currently £2,000) – this is good news for businesses with employees as they will not have to pay the first £3,000 of employers national insurance contributions. However if you are a company with a sole director as the only employee, this change has a sting in its tail – as you will no longer qualify for employment allowance from April 2016.
As an adult working, August is still a strange month – first of all there is no traffic, families or even people around on the way to work. Journeys to and from work take hardly any time, there is always someone on holiday in every office and as they return, suntanned and relaxed, another excited staff member tidies their desk and heads out into the beckoning freedom! Of course July also unveiled the new summer budget – advertised as “the first conservative Budget in nearly 20 years”. Now here at KBA we do not make political comments or judgements but we did think it might be useful to tell you a few of the changes that are going to be implemented over the next few months and years. Of course the most publicised change was the new compulsory National Living Wage which will apply for those aged 25 and above from next April. The first change will come from 1 October 2015 when the minimum wage will rise to £6.70 swiftly increasing to £7.20 from 1 April 2016. If you employ staff make sure that you keep abreast of the changes – or ask a nice payroll provider to help you out. 12 | August 2015
Some changes for business owners including our lovely clients include:
Finally – I am sure that you have seen all the lovely bikes appearing round the town over the last few weeks ready for the Tour of Britain. We here at KBA are also joining in the fun so don’t forget to admire our creative masterpiece on your way through town. We think all of the bikes look great so well done to all the businesses that have joined in the fun.
August is a fun and relaxed kind of month – it feels like the whole world is on holiday! But don’t worry – we will still be here – working away – so if you need any help or advice – you know where we are. (Unless it’s a sunny day when we might go to the beach)
Other changes for companies and shareholders are the implementation of a new Dividend Tax Credit from April 2016. A new Dividend Tax Allowance of £5,000 will be introduced from this date. Above the allowance the rates of tax will be 7.5% for basic rate tax payers and higher for higher rate and additional rate tax payers. Finally a change for our rental clients as new legislation coming in from April 2017 will mean that landlords will no longer be able to deduct all of their finance costs from their residential property when they calculate their rental profits. However if you are part of the rent a room scheme there is good news as the Rent a Room relief will be increased to £7,500 (previously £4,250) from April 2016. All in all there are quite a few changes for all of us to get our heads round – at least life is never dull! www.DispatchMagazine.co.uk
ATTLEBOROUGH 2nd Attleborough Rainbows Rainbow are the youngest members of Girlguiding, aged between 5 and 7 During the summer term, 2nd Attleborough Rainbows have been busy working on their Adventure Out badge. To complete the badge, they did a range of activities across a number of different themes. For the ‘water’ section, they had an evening blowing bubbles and chasing them around the playground, watching them float into the air. They made teddy bear parachutes for the ‘air’ section and tested different weights and heights to see which travelled best. For the ‘fire’ part, they made edible bonfires using a variety of yummy sweets! The girls also had a visit from Jurassic Encounters and learnt about some different animals. They

tried out a new sport when Premier Sports visited to teach the girls archery. They explored the natural world, making natural pictures out of materials found on the field. The girls ended the term outside again - taking advantage of Great Ellingham Teddy Bear Festival! The Rainbows were able to share some of their meetings with girls from 1st Attleborough and East Harling Units too. Although not part of the badge, they had a joint sleepover in June with 1st Attleborough Rainbows doing activities like bag painting, making sock puppets, decorating pizzas for tea and enjoying a DVD before bedtime.

ATTLEBOROUGH Almary Green Steer Clear of Financial Fraud It’s a sad fact that there are a number of people in this world who are keen to take advantage of our naivety and lack of knowledge. Alison Rudd warns of some of the dangers out there. Attacks from fraudsters whose aim it is to separate us from our hard-earned savings are on the increase. The recent changes in the pension rules have given them even wider scope to prey on people’s lack of knowledge. So how can you protect yourself from this type of attack? Perhaps the best advice to remember is the old adage: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There are some key points to remember when considering any financial advice you are being offered. Firstly, financial advisers in the UK are regulated by the
Financial Conduct Authority and you can find details of authorised advisers online at www.unbiased.co.uk. Authorised advisers will charge a fee for their advice, but they will protect your best interests. If they are not authorised, you will have no recourse to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if anything goes wrong. Secondly, many amazing sounding deals may actually not be so advantageous when you take into account the fees involved. Someone who is proposing moving your savings may be expecting to take a substantial percentage of the sum being moved as a fee, so you would lose out, even if the expected rate of return of the destination investment is good. So it’s critical to be aware of the
charges and read the small print. Thirdly, remember that it is easy for an email or website to look convincing. If you are thinking of trusting your money to someone’s advice, go the extra mile to check them out. Don’t rely on official-looking logos and names in their promotional material as these can easily be copied. If in doubt, steer clear. Moving pension savings is a minefield and can prove costly unless done correctly. Anyone who takes funds out of their pension savings before age 55 (the minimum pension age) will incur a tax charge, of at least 55 per cent unless a special dispensation has been agreed because of ill health. Moving funds from one pension arrangement to another is possible but must be done using a proper pension transfer. It’s critical to get full regulated advice before doing so, as there may be important benefits that may be lost if transferred. There are many “scammers” out there who will suggest that they can help you get access to your pension savings, whether you have reached the minimum pension age or not. These liberation schemes can be fraudulent and should be avoided at all costs. They are frequently referred to as “pension loans” and come with cash incentives to persuade you to hand over your pension benefits. However, the providers of such schemes sometimes fail to alert you to the potential consequence in terms of the tax penalty and of any fees that might be levied for the transfer. In extreme cases, it may even be difficult to locate just where your money has gone.
free of tax. The remainder of your fund will be subject to income tax when you withdraw it. My best advice is to ignore any cold-callers and never give away personal or financial details over the phone or online. If you need financial advice, talk to an authorised adviser. Finally, it’s important to make the point that pension savings don’t have to be moved, just because you now have access from age 55. Pension funds offer a tax-efficient investment environment and your savings can remain invested there until you need to draw on them. The value of an investment and the income from it could go down as well as up. The return at the end of the investment period is not guaranteed and you may get back less than you originally invested. The tax treatment of investments depends on individual circumstances and is subject to change. To discuss any aspect of your financial well-being, contact Alison at alison.rudd@ almarygreen.com or call 01603 706740. Alison can be found at the offices of M+A Partners, Cyprus Close, Attleborough most Wednesday and is happy to arrange appointments there or in clients’ own homes.
The new pension flexibility rules do allow for individuals to access their pension savings once they have reached the minimum retirement age but it is important to remember than only the first 25 per cent can be withdrawn 14 | August 2015

ATTLEBOROUGH Attleborough Boxing Club Attleborough Boxing Club’s Grand Expansion Just 7 years on from their conception Attleborough Boxing Club’s growth and success has been truly amazing. Literally from an idea on a piece of A4 paper to 1 of the Eastern Counties leading Boxing Clubs with nationally regarded premises and a Community based sports hub that caters for all sectors of the public alongside a Boxing Academy. The club is based at its dedicated premises at Deopham Road, Attleborough and caters for all, both females and males and most age groups to enable people of all abilities to enjoy the sport in a safe environment. The impressive 3,000 sq ft main gym and training area has a large mirrored wall, two full sized boxing rings and a double bank of punch bags which is complimented by a vast selection of training and fitness equipment used in the sport of boxing. To add to this already impressive facility the club, with Sport England Breckland Council match funding, built on a high tech strength and conditioning room as well as a fully fitted classroom / conference area. The club are also opening its facilities to local companies and the public for general hire, corporate days and as well as the use of its conference facilities. The team of volunteers that run the Club have worked tirelessly to maximise the club’s potential as a facility for the whole community. Boxing sessions for all levels are held 6 days a week, the club is fully inclusive and offers fitness training to members from aged 5 plus. The club once described as ‘Attleborough’s best kept secret’ has become a safe haven for many youngsters within the local community, providing fun, focus and valuable life skills. The club was also pleased to be mentioned recently in a report by the Local Police Force at a Attleborough Town Council as a contributory factor in a 12% reduction in anti-social behaviour within the Town. Another aspect of the club is that it consistently works to include and help those struggling in education and struggling to find work, seeing dramatic improvements in confidence, attitude, and self-control. Young Rocky’s, Fit to Succeed and Ladies Night are all specific sessions targeted at, and suitable for, the wider community to come along, have fun, keep fit and enjoy the social aspect and great influence that the club provides. Using boxing as a vehicle to promote and provide fitness, you certainly don’t need to step into the ring or have a desire to compete to enjoy the club and its improved facilities. With junior prices from just £2 per session its great value for money as well! Want to box? Need to keep fit? Need a focus? Looking to join a gym? Looking for a conference venue? These are all great reasons to consider Attleborough Boxing Club. ATTLEBOROUGH Norfolk Charity Motor Show Norfolk Show Ground. 15th & 16th August 10am to 4pm The 8th Norwich Charity Motor Show & Family Fun Event, this year reverts back to its regular August slot at the Norfolk Showground, (Red Car Park East), on 15th & 16th . The annual show is organised and run by Wroxham & Hoveton Lions Club, on a non-profit making basis, with all proceeds this year, being distributed equally between the East Anglian Air Ambulance, EACH (East Anglian Childrens Hospice, Quidenham) and Lions Charity funds, which will enable the Club to support some of the smaller local deserving causes. To date the event has raised approximately £64,000 for various charitable causes. One of the criteria when planning the first show in 2008,
was to make it an enjoyable experience for all the family and this philosophy has been the cornerstone for all the shows since. The move from the show’s original home at the `Norwich Rugby Club to the Norfolk Showground has provided additional space and gave the opportunity to make the show bigger and better with more attractions. Along with new cars from local dealerships, this year there is the added bonus of specialty cars from local manufacturers, under our “Made in Norfolk” banner. In addition to the new vehicles, there will also be a large number of classic cars as well as classic buses and commercial vehicles,
military vehicles and much more. Regular features will include craft and charity stalls, trade stands, live music, Police and Fire vehicles, children’s rides and amusements, magic shows and competitions, live auction and grand prize draw raffle.
IT’S A GREAT DAY OUT FOR ALL AGES!
The ever-popular Star Wars Characters will also be attending again. Various food outlets will provide a variety of refreshments.
For full details go to www. norwichmotorshow.co.uk
Because the Lions do not have any paid executives and donate their time feely, all proceeds from events such as this, after deduction of essential expenses, are donated to the causes supported. This is the only dedicated motor show in the area and has something for all the family.
Opening times are 10am to 4pm, both days. Admission is only £5.00 for Adults with Children under 14 and Parking Free.

GENERAL Residual Income What is Residual Income and how does it work? You have probably heard the expression that “the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.” It’s often used to explain the unfairness when it comes to money. However I don’t think this is unfair at all. The reason it happens is because the rich focus on a completely different way of earning money. There are thousands of stories about poor people who accumulated great riches and this choice is available to all of us. Richard Branson, Alan Sugar, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Oprah were not born into riches. Yet over their lifetimes they’ve amassed huge personal fortunes. This is because they understand and use the power of leverage through residual income. What Is Active Income? Active income comes as a direct result of our efforts. This is when we work for one hour and get paid a certain amount for that hours work. This can be seen in wages, salaries, and selfemployed service providers like lawyers or doctors. There are many people who get paid vast amounts of money to become the CEO of a company, play professional sports, or star in a movie. Earning a high active income is often a lot of hard work and requires a dedication beyond most of us. It’s also limited because no matter how much money you get paid you still need to show up to work to earn your money. What Is Residual (Or Passive) Income? Residual income is when you continue to get paid after the work is done. This includes royalties from books, movies, or songs and also income that 18 | August 2015
comes from property or business investments where you don’t actually have to be present to earn it. For example, Bill Gates is still making a residual income from Microsoft even though he isn’t working there anymore. Residual income comes from building an asset that continues to pay you after the work has been done. A book, movie or song is an asset to the people earning royalties from it. A house is an asset to the landlord being paid rent and a business is an asset to the business owner who does not need to be involved in the day-to-day activities anymore. The Passive Income Myth Many people talk about passive income and create the impression that you never have to do anything to keep that income going. The truth is that you will normally have to keep your eye on things if you want it to run smoothly. For example Richard Branson doesn’t run any of the 400+ companies he started but he goes over the numbers each day to make sure they’re performing well and calls the CEO if there are any problems. There is also an idea that we should work to build a passive income asset and then sit on the beach relaxing for the rest of our lives. The truth is that most people would get extremely bored with this scenario and will be eager to find something to do. That’s why the world’s billionaires continue to work… they love what they do and it stopped being about the money a long time ago. How To Build Residual Or Passive Income The key idea here is leverage.
You must be able to leverage other people’s time or other people’s money in order to create a residual income. Richard Branson can run 400+ companies because he isn’t actually running any of them at all. His CEOs are. To create residual income, you need to create something that people will continue to buy on a regular basis long after you’ve created it. Utilities is a prime example of this as people will continue to pay for Gas, Electric, Phones and Broadband month after month after month. A business needs to have products that are sold over and over again rather than trading the business owner’s time for money.
business and create residual income tomorrow so you have to have some patience. As you make more residual income you can start to scale back the hours you put into active income. This will mean your residual income will grow even faster once you pay it more attention. As Jim Rohn was famous for saying: “I’m working full-time on my job and part time on my fortune. But it won’t be long before I’m working full-time on my fortune. Can you imagine what my life will look like?” For more information on Residual Income: www.AskMeHow.co.uk or Call / Text me: 07802 690589

GENERAL Plantlife Road verges are one of the most important, best loved and frequently viewed habitats in the country... So why are they still being destroyed? A new Plantlife study shows that Britain’s road verges are home to 703 species of wild plants, more than in any other part of our landscape, and 87 of them are either threatened with extinction or heading that way. In addition, 88% of these wild plants provide nectar and pollen for bees and other insects, making road verges essential refuges for insect life; bird’s-foot trefoil alone is a food plant for 132 species of insect. In addition, 21 of the 25 Nation’s Favourite Wildflowers grow on road verges. From cowslips and bluebells in spring to swathes of cow parsley and ox-eye daisies in early summer, our verges are home to most of the 25 favourite wild flowers
as voted for by the public. And with 30 million drivers in the UK, they’re the most frequently viewed habitat too, providing many people with their only regular daily contact with nature. But in much of Britain road verges are still being needlessly cut down in full flower threatening the wildflowers and the wildlife that depend on them. Many councils have already started cutting verges - much too early in the year for flowers to be able set seed, and greatly reducing one of the most important food banks for our ailing bees and other pollinators. Dr Trevor Dines, Plantlife’s Botanical Specialist, explains, “Over 97% of meadows have

the importance of biodiversity in their local area, starting them on a path to enjoying wild flowers and realising their importance as part of our natural heritage.
Over 30,000 children have already taken part in the wild flower survey since its launch in 2010. Now thousands more will have the opportunity to explore the nature on their doorstep and learn about the wild flowers growing there.
It also helps them understand the importance of wild plants for our declining pollinators. 90% of teachers who did the survey reported that ‘Bee scene’ had given them new learning about the natural environment and helped pupils understand that different wild plants are important for bees.
Families can discover whether their local area is good for bumblebees by looking for bee-friendly wild flowers such as foxgloves, dandelions and clovers in their local green spaces. The results are then uploaded onto a virtual meadow map of the UK. The survey raises awareness and understanding in children of www.DispatchMagazine.co.uk
Nature’s Path has a strong commitment to sustainability and the natural environment and has stepped in to enable the Bee Scene initiative to reach many thousands more children and families this year after its National Lottery funding ended. A spokesperson comments “As an
been destroyed in England since the 1930s. In many areas, rural road verges are the last remaining stretches of natural habitat for our wildlife. Road safety is the absolute priority, but we know that verges can be managed better for wildlife whilst remaining safe for motorists. This means adopting some simple changes to management – like a delay in cutting to allow seed to be set so that wildflowers can thrive”. Plantlife has produced new management guidelines and is urging the public to sign a petition asking local councils to adopt them. Some councils are leading the way. Trials in Dorset, for example, are investigating how to combat the over-vigorous growth of grass on fertile verges (which is both detrimental to wildflowers and obscures driver sight-lines), by stripping turf, using semi-parasitic yellow rattle to stunt grass growth and even grazing verges with sheep. Plantlife is helping to showcase the work of councils like Dorset to show others that

it can be done. Our guidelines are being currently being applied to 11,700 km of verge covering 2,300 hectares of verges – that’s equivalent to 2.5 times the area of remaining upland hay meadow in the UK - and with the public’s support we can do even more. Dr Dines adds, “If we just give them a chance, wildflowers can return. Meadow crane’s-bill was once widespread in meadows – hence its name – but is now more commonly found on road verges. It spreads readily when cutting is delayed and it’s allowed to set seed. Maybe it’s time to change its name to “verge crane’s-bill”. GENERAL Spiritual Flow We had a last minute guest speaker at our recent Norwich festival who attracted a lot of attention, Lyon G. Zonamyari. Lyon is a professional name analyst and author of a book titled Name Reality. He is originally from East Anglia but now resides in the SW Caribbean. His work is based on ancient texts and methods used thousands of years ago by enlightened families to name their children for a prosperous, healthy and happy life. The system is not numerology but mathematics are used for some of the calculations to analyse names. This study comes with an impressive documented history file. Everybody who participated was amazed at the accuracy and depth of information this system revealed. I include here an introduction Lyon provided outlining some of the merits. The first two pages of his website tells the story in more detail and there is a forty minute TV interview recorded just last week, posted on his Face Book page, Lyon Zonamyari.

Your given documented names from birth create an energy blueprint, influencing your personality, your character, your virtues, vices and both your mental and physical health, for better or worse. More amazing, the second part of this system reveals how letters from each of your names rotate at predetermined years, influencing events and the way you live your life. Incredible, maybe, but true! Any one name for the most is good. Just as you can touch any one key on a piano and it will sound good. When you press two or more keys at the same time or play with two hands, it is important you press the right keys. If you press the right combination of keys, you produce beautiful music.
The sound of music produced by a piano can be documented with Sheet Music. The vibration produced by your names can be documented with Name Reality. What tune do you play? When you understand all of your names, if a negative part of your personality or certain letters bring negative events into your life, you can make advance plans. You can change, overcome or reduce these potential problems. When positive events are coming into your life this system helps you to know where and when to focus your time, your effort and resources to obtain the maximum results. This system will not tell you which lottery numbers to play. However, it will give you an accurate weather forecast. Knowing which year to carry an umbrella or take your sunglasses, will enhance the quality of your life.
For some, self-awareness is enough, enabling us to take better control of our lives with positive attitude and positive visualization, others decide to change their name. Changing just one name, the way you spell a name, or adding middle initials, can make a huge difference. Creating a positive name for a new-born can be a wonderful gift, a gift for life. The Laws of Attraction are real. Your names can help, hinder or halt your progress. Name Reality shows you how, why and what you can do. Visit www. namesdoctor.com Have a great summer and perhaps if you wish to meet Lyon he does have plans to attend all our events during July. Steve Hudson www.spiritualflowevents.com
If you press the wrong combination of keys, at best you are out of tune, or worst, you become a dreadful noise. Your names apply a similar action.

ELDERLY The Hearing Care Centre Ask the Audiologist Local Audiologist Karen Finch from The Hearing Care Centre, answers some of the most commonly asked questions she receives from her patients regarding hearing loss… Why do I have trouble only hearing certain words and not others? If you are missing certain sounds you may have some hearing loss and today’s digital hearing aids, audiologists such as myself are able to precisely program the hearing aids to only provide amplification at the pitches you need, allowing you to use the hearing you have remaining and boosting where you need it the most. Inability to hear some sounds like sh, s, th, t, etc. significantly
www.DispatchMagazine.co.uk
impact your understanding of the overall word causing the dreaded “huh?” and embarrassing inappropriate responses to questions. What actually causes hearing loss? Most hearing loss is caused by the ageing process, however regular exposure to loud noises, heredity, and some illnesses can also cause hearing loss. Around 90% of all cases of hearing loss are because the microscopic hair cells in the cochlea (or inner ear) become damaged which limits their ability to detect soft, higher frequency sounds and means that they cannot send a complete signal to the brain. As a result, it becomes difficult to understand
the consonants that allow us to understand speech. One of my friends has two hearing aids and hates them and said I should never try them. Is she right? There are many factors that come into play when fitting hearing aids and therefore everyone’s experience is different. Every person has a different hearing loss, different size ear canals, different hearing aid technology etc… Hearing aid success depends quite a lot on the actual hearing aids. Perhaps your friend chose a basic hearing aid that is not technologically advanced enough to suit their needs. Or perhaps they have not followed up with their audiologist since their fitting and the hearing aids simply need adjustments.
While buying hearing aids off the internet may be less expensive, it is not advisable. By purchasing through these venues, you might be giving up the quality of care you will get by working with an audiologist. This includes things such as a qualified hearing evaluation, professional recommendations as to the most appropriate type of hearing aid, follow up care and much more. The Hearing Care Centre is a multi-award winning, family run private hearing care company with 20 centres across Suffolk and Norfolk.
