Great News For Star Throwers
The Regal Experience The Wicked Lady, Gainsborough Studio’s most commercially successful film of the 1940s, is the Regal Experience’s next classic screening at the old Wymondham Regal, now part of the local Ex-Services’ Club.
Cancer can be a very frightening and lonely experience. The registered charity Star Throwers based in Wymondham, is open to everyone, and provides free, independent information care and support. Treatments include complementary therapies such as massage, reflexology, reiki and nutrition advice. All the people who work at Star Throwers give their time completely free of charge, but there are many other costs involved in running the centre, and in order to continue offering therapeutic services, we are always looking for individuals or organisations to assist us in our work and in raising funds. Star Throwers are delighted to announce that Sainsburys of Longwater Lane Norwich have chosen us as their Charity of the Year. We are very much looking forward to working with them throughout the year on both fund raising and practical projects. To date the Sainsbury’s team have been helping us to restore order to our gardens, a great support to our regular garden volunteers. They are holding instore collections on our behalf, and with
the able assistance of Tony the Fund Raising Teddy, are busy planning other fund-raising adventures, among them a parachute jump. A Star Throwers spokesman said “The people and businesses of Wymondham and the surrounding areas have been wonderfully generous in their support of us, and now to be Sainsburys chosen charity is an amazing benefit to our organisation. We are most grateful.” If you would like to know more about our services please contact us on 01953 423304 or see our website for further information www.starthrowers.org.uk.

An interview with... Kate Pilgrim of Station Bistro
Above: Station Bistro Team. 1. Tell us a little about yourself?. We opened the business on 1st March this year as a family run business; Kate, Jenny and Simon Pilgrim. Simon also owns Station Taxis situated next door to the Bistro, here at the station. It’s really new to us all but we absolutely love it. We have a great team and the atmosphere is just so welcoming. I currently rent a cottage next to the bistro with my husband and children, as we are having a house built behind these cottages. It’s certainly very convenient being on the doorstep to our new business and we’re looking forward to making this our permanent address.
2. What did you do before working at Station Bistro? I used to work at Aviva before I started work here. It was Simon’s previous landlord who leased the whole station, who mentioned to him that he was to retire. We then thought it would be great for us as a family, if we could take over the lease, and run our own restaurant. Jenny has hospitality skills after running a successful farmhouse bed and breakfast for many years. 3. Are there any plans for the future or up coming events? We will shortly be creating some evening meal events such as a Curry Night and Steak Night. Our Christmas menu is currently being printed and will be available shortly. We are already taking bookings for the festive period and if anybody wishes to know what will be on the menu, please give us a ring or pop by to see us. There will be a ‘Ladies 1st’ pamper evening hosted by the Nailway Beauty Salon and Dress

Agency on Saturday 12th November. This will include various stalls from hair to reflexology, nails and fashion, plus a catwalk and an auction being held to raise money for Help for Heroes. All welcome, tickets available now at £5.00 each, which also includes a light buffet.
4. What have you learnt since working here? I have learnt a lot from our customers, we give out a comment card at the end of their meal and ask them to rate the food and service. This type of feedback from our customers is invaluable and has provided us with some great ideas.
of people who come to visit us. Being featured on the BBC’s ‘Michael Portillo’s Great Little Railways’ has also been a great boost. 6. Is there anything else you wish to add? I would just like to say a big thank you to all our team they are great and we couldn’t have done everything without you all helping us. I would also like to say a big thank you to both our regular customers for their ongoing support and to new visitors for their positive feedback and making all the hard work worth while.
5. How do you find working in Wymondham? Since moving here from Tacolneston I have come to really like the town. I love the fact we live right next door. It’s friendly and busy, with a variety of shops and local amenities. The local people have made us feel very welcome and it’s great that we get to meet such a variety

When It Comes To Guttering, It May Be Tempting To Forget About Them. However neglecting them can lead to dripping downpipes to damp. The most common cause of problems with guttering is caused by a lack of maintenance. Maintenance is the best way to prevent problems with guttering. The main causes of problems are gutters not being regularly maintained. Often the downpipes are not kept cleared. Problems are often caused when moss and debris from the roof is washed into the guttering by rainfall, causing blockages and preventing rainwater from draining away properly. Leaves can also collect and cause blockages. Sagging guttering can also can be an issue in some properties. If water starts collecting along the run of the guttering rather than flowing towards your downpipe, you may need your guttering realigned. Guttering is there to take rainwater

away from a building, so if it is not clean, cleared and aligned properly, the water can run down the walls, which could eventually lead to structural damage and mould. It can also ruin decorations inside the house. Problems can arise when water comes over the top of the guttering - it can soak into brickwork, walls and into the house. It can also come over the inside of the fascias. This can often cause damp patches to appear inside the house.

Nest Residential Lettings And Management Rental Prices Rising due to Limited Supply. If you are considering putting your property on the market for rental now is a good time. Due to the high deposits required by mortgage lenders this is preventing people from purchasing, therefore demand has increased for rental accommodation.
As well as a healthy price being obtained the limited supply also means that properties are rented a lot quicker, meaning that void periods are kept to a minimum.
This was let on the first viewing and achieved the full asking price of ÂŁ750pcm without a problem.
This sized property is extremely popular for families and couples at the moment; Nest Residential Lettings and Management therefore if you have a 2 or 3 bed house with a garden, then you could expect a have recently let a 3 bed semi-detached house in Southwold. rapid let for a healthy rental figure.
Nest Lettings are always looking for new properties to let out in order to meet increased demand; and due to their independence are able to dedicate time to providing each property with the attention it requires to secure a quick and successful let. Therefore, if you have a property to let and would like any advice then please contact the team at any time on 01603 621180 or office@letnest.co.uk.
As this greater demand is met with a limited supply of rental properties available, this has resulted in a dramatic rise in rental prices in the last few months. In East Anglia specifically they rose 2.75 per cent in June, taking the average rents in East Anglia to ÂŁ581 per month. Although this is a negative for applicants searching for rental accommodation, this is good news for potential landlords looking to put their property on the open lettings market.

Why 5 A Day? Fruit and vegetables are part of a balanced diet and can help us stay healthy. That’s why it so important that we get enough of them. 5 A DAY highlights the health benefits of getting five 80g portions of fruit and vegetables every day. That’s 5 portions of fruit & veg altogether, not 5 portions of each. Five Reasons To Get Five Portions • Fruit and vegetables taste delicious and there’s so much variety to choose from. • They’re a good source of vitamins and minerals, including folate, vitamin C and potassium. • They’re an excellent source of dietary fibre, which helps maintain a healthy gut and prevent constipation and other digestion problems. A diet high in fibre can also reduce your risk of bowel cancer. • They can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers. • Fruit and vegetables contribute to a healthy and balanced diet. Fruit and vegetables are also usually low in fat and calories (provided you don’t fry them or roast them in lots of oil). That’s
why eating them can help you maintain a healthy weight and keep your heart healthy.
With the Autumn upon us and the weather getting decidedly chilly, we have to start preparing our skin for the Seasons.
5 A DAY is based on advice from the World Health Organization, which recommends eating a minimum of 400g of fruit and vegetables a day to lower the risk of serious health problems, such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and obesity.
As most people will find during the change of the seasons your skin changes in appearance, texture, tone and even colour. Taking a few easy steps you can prevent this from making what should be the party season of the year a stressful complexion hell.
To get the most benefit out of your 5 A DAY, your five portions should include a variety of fruit and vegetables.
Step 1: Prepare your skin correctly Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise morning and evening. Even if you don’t wear make-up your skin absorbs the dirt and grime from the environment, when you are out and about car fumes, weather elements even generally cooking and food smells all sit in the pores of the skin producing blocked pores.
This is because different fruits and vegetables contain different combinations of fibre, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Almost all fruit and vegetables count towards your 5 A DAY. Potatoes and cassava don’t count because they mainly contribute starch to the diet. For further information on 5 A Day visit www.nhs.uk
Nail Care Advice Most people seem to have a problem with nail growth: never growing, always snapping, dry and brittle. All these problems can be easily cured and prevented. With careful home maintenance and a little professional care you can have perfect nails all year round. • Filing. Always file in one direction.Don’t saw at the nail or use a metal nail file. • Apply a base coat for your specific nail type. Nails are made of Keratin, the same product as hair, you would always buy shampoo for your hair type, so why not buy base coats for your nail type?
Skincare For The Season Change
• Apply hand cream. This provides protection against dry skin and nourishes the nail plate bringing fresh nutrients to the skin and nails. • Have regular professional Manicures. In the long run, this can be the most cost effective way of helping keep your nails in the best possible condition.
Step 2: Exfoliation Gently exfoliating your skin once or twice a week with help remove dead skin cells giving a brighter, fresh look to what can be dull lifeless skin this time of year. Our skin goes into shock this time of year… we start blasting it with car heating, then jump outside and blast it with bitter cold air, then back in door s to our centrally heated homes. Step 3: Rich Moisturiesr This will give the skin a fighting chance in prevention of harsh dry unsightly patches which as women we instinctively try and cover up with more make-up eventually making them more visable.
Best Skin Care Routine Step 1: Cleansing Cleansing should be done twice daily, using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Always use your hands instead of a washcloth. Washcloths can harbour bacteria and they’re too rough for sensitive skin. Skin shouldn’t be “squeaky clean” but should have some natural oils left behind. Step 2: Toning A good toner will remove any excess dirt or makeup left behind by your cleanser, the proof is in the cotton pad. It’s also a step too many women skip in their skincare routine. Regular use will refine and minimize pores and make skin feel fresh. Step 3: Moisturising Next to staying out of the sun, moisturising is the best step towards keeping skin
looking young. If you don’t have problem skin use a lightweight moisturiser. In fall or winter, you might want to switch over to something a little more substantial, but for the summer something light is best. Moisturiser should be applied twice a day. Step 4: Scrub/Exfoliate Exfoliating is a step that can be done about once a week. Sloughing off dead skin cells will reveal younger, smoother skin beneath the surface. Use a skincare brush. You can use it with whatever cleanser is your favourite. The oscillating brush buffs skin to a healthy glow, but a good scrubbing cleanser or pad will also do the trick.

CARING FOR THE ELDERLY Ways To Make Tasks Easier Around The Home As you get older you may find it harder to manage in your home. However, you may be able to stay in your home for longer if it is adapted to meet your needs. This guide from Age UK looks at the adaptations and equipment that are available and explains how to obtain them.
installed to enable you to reach the front door. This may require alterations to the porch or front step.
It also suggests small practical steps that can make a difference to your quality of life.
Answering the door
Access to your home This advice relates to both your main access, generally the front door, and your rear or garden access. If you are having difficulty getting in and out of your property there are ways to make it easier. If you have difficulty climbing the steps leading to your front door, you could have a rail installed. If you are a wheelchair user, you may need to have a ramp
If you have difficulty getting to the front door when someone calls, you could consider installing a door-entry intercom. This can either be one where you talk to the visitor via an intercom link and then walk to the front door, or where you press a button to open the door from your sitting position after you have spoken to the visitor via the intercom. There are other options to allow friends, relatives and carers access if you find it difficult to get to the front door in time
to answer it. One of these is a key safe, where the key is held in a secure box that can only be opened by someone who knows the code.
and does not block the way. In some circumstances walls can be removed or re-sited to provide a larger turning circle in a room.
Moving around your home
Getting up and down stairs
If you are having difficulty moving around a property, think about the risks related to floor surfaces, lighting, clutter and trip hazards such as exposed wires. If you use a wheelchair, do you have enough room to manoeuvre your chair around each room and from room to room?
If the facilities in your property - your toilet, bathroom, kitchen - are on different floors you may be finding it increasingly difficult to keep using the stairs.
If the ability to turn from a corridor into a room is inhibited by the door and corridor width, it may be possible to widen the door frame or to re-hang the door so that it swings in the opposite direction
It may be possible to install a second banister rail on the stairs or to fit a stairlift to make it easier for you to get up and down the stairs. There are a number of different types on the market, with a range of features to suit different needs.
South Mobility Centre With clear, crisp and perhaps wet autumnal days around the corner, there’s no need to let the weather put you off from getting out on your scooter.
