Christmas Fair Raises Over £500 For Life Saving Charity A Christmas fair held in Felixstowe has raised over £500 for a local life saving charity. The fair, held at Brackenbury Sports Centre on Sunday 6th November, raised £1,835 for three local charities and the East Anglian Air Ambulance was one of them, picking up a cheque for £549. A cheque presentation took place and Carrie Chipperfield collected the donation on behalf of EAAA. She said: “We’d like to thank all those who organised this event and to those who donated to us at it. Support from local people at events like this is the reason that the air ambulance can keep flying and helping those who need us in an emergency.
Co D m isp pe at tit ch io n
“To put this donation in to perspective, the money raised is enough for us to purchase a medical kit bag which
provides our crew with all they need in order to help someone in an emergency situation such as a heart attack. Potentially, all those who have donated have helped us to save a life in this area and we can’t thank them enough for enabling us to do that.” Money was raised by those who attended the event which saw over 80 craft and gift stalls gather in the sports centre, as well as refreshments and a bouncy castle provided by Zebedee Castles. The other charities who benefited from the event were the 7th Felixstowe Scout Group who received £915 and Myasthenia Gravis who collected £366.

Nelsons County Charity Ball 2012 Raising money for OUR hospitals (Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals) Cancer and Haematology Departments. I have a personal connection with The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Cancer and Haematology department and have been wanting to raise some money for their amazing wards for some time now.
is Norfolk, and our community pulling together to raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile cause, and the sad fact that some how many, if not all of us do have a connection with the ward.
So I decided to use my background in event management to my advantage and convinced Jessica Smith (the owner of Coco cafe in Dereham) to help me with her experience in the field and Nelsons County Charity Ball was born.
The ball is going to be held on the 26th May 2012 at the Royal Norfolk Show Ground, and we are aiming to cater for around 270 people, including Pimms arrival drinks, professional photographer, 3 course meal, charity auction and raffle, live music, disco and much much more.
We are running Nelsons Ball to raise money for our hospitals (Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals) Cancer and Haematology departments (charity number 1048170), they are the people who provide treatment, care and support for patients and carers of all ages affected by cancer and haematological conditions and as I’m sure you are aware, they do an amazing job! Norfolk & Suffolk Power Flushing Any of these symptoms in my advert could indicate that your central heating system has problems from internal corrosion, rust, sludge and scale. A power flush can restore circulation and efficiency to your central heating system by removing these products. The process involves connecting a power flushing pump to the existing central heating pump valves, or across the tails of a radiator. Specialist chemicals are then pumped around the heating system to loosen and mobilise the unwanted debris.
Each radiator is then individually flushed until clean and on completion, an inhibitor is added to prevent further corrosion. The whole process is carried out with minimal disturbance and disruption. “At the end of the day people buy funeral plans for peace of mind so it’s worrying to hear that people may not be buying what they thought.
“We understand that funeral plan sales teams are operating throughout the area and are concerned that people may be misled into thinking they are representing local funeral homes such as ours, when this is absolutely not the case,” said Anne Beckett-Allen.
Buying a funeral plan is a positive thing to do and it would be sad if people are put off by the type of worrying stories we’re hearing.”
“In common with most funeral homes we offer a choice of funeral plans, but would never sell door-to-door as we feel this puts people under pressure.
Its team includes well-known local Funeral Directors Richard Green, Derrick Leeder and Christian Fairbrother.
“If you are thinking of investing in a funeral plan my advice would be to ask around, take your time and to be clear about what it is you are actually buying.

Health, beauty & wellbeing Get Fit 4 Less
Winter Skin Care
Get fit 4 less is a special promotion that is running from now at Fit Club Wymondham, up until the available places have been filled.
We may sweat more, shave more, and soak up more sun in warmer months, but with the winter comes a whole new tricky set of beauty issues we must contend with. Slathering on head-to-toe moisturiser may seem like the solution, but preventing dried out, flaky skin involves a little more work.
This is an exclusive deal that has been set up to offer the first 50 people to do it, a chance to have membership at the club for £25 per month for an entire year. The promotion has been offered to current members to introduce a new member onto the deal and in return get the same deal for themselves. We have now opened up the offer to non members so if you can get a relative, friend or colleague to join on the promotion at the same time that you join, then you will be able to receive that same offer. In a nutshell, if there are 2 of you joining at the same time you can both qualify for this exclusive deal. This promotion entitles you to all the same privileges as any other membership and that includes free health screening, induction and on going programme design if required.
Membership also gives you access to all the classes we do which include spinning, aerobics, circuit training, kettlebells, legs bums & tums, and Thai boxing. So if you want to get fit using our expert help, and do if for less, then please visit www.getfit4less.co.uk. We don’t just specialise in getting people fit, we also address postural problems and physical issues. If you think or know you need to improve your movement or posture or both, then we can put together rehabilitation programmes to help you function better. This can also be done for less by visiting the same website or speaking to our staff for further details on 01953 606665.
Here are 10 simple tips to ward off lowtemperatures, gusty winds, and dry heat. Follow these basic rules and you’ll stay silky smooth all over till spring. 1. Opt for oil-based moisturizers The main change in your winter skin care regimen should be selecting an oil-based moisturiser, so look for one that contains avocado or almond oil. These will lock the moisture in your skin and build a protective layer on the top surface. Water based moisturisers can be damaging to your skin, especially during cold climate, because the water freezes in your skin. Apply liberally whenever your skin feels dry. 2. Don’t forget your sunscreen Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean the sun isn’t strong, especially when it can reflect off snow. Apply a SPF 1530 to your face (and hands if they’re exposed) about 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply if you’re spending the day outside. 3. Use a humidifier Heat can dry out more than just your sinuses. With added moisture in the air, your skin won’t be as flaky. 4. Avoid very hot water It may feel good, but you should never shower, bathe or wash your face with extremely hot water. It can not only break the capillaries in the face, but also break down the lipid barriers in the skin, which will lead to a loss of moisture. Adding a few drops of Jojoba or almond oil to a bath can nourish and hydrate dry skin.
6. Never ever lick your lips Stash soothing lip balms in your purse, car, and desk to keep lips from chapping. You can also apply few drops of olive oil mixed with few drops of honey to your lips for few minutes to hydrate. 7. Swap your liquid foundation for a cream formula Liquid foundation can actually freeze! One of the benefits of using cream is that it will give your skin an extra protective layer and help keep the moisture in your skin. 8. Don’t ever leave the house with wet hair Have you ever had your hair freeze in the cold? This will cause damage to your scalp and hair can actually break off, so it may be better to shower in the evening. Since hair can get dry and damaged just like our skin, protect it by conditioning more in the winter and blow dry hair on a cooler setting. 9. Wear a hat to prevent a dry scalp Besides keeping you warm, a hat will hold in moisture and protect your scalp from dry air and flaking. Make sure your hat is not too tight and made of breathable material. 10. Give your hands extra love The skin on our hands is extremely thin, which means they already have a limited amount of moisture.
5. Hydrate skin while it’s damp Applying moisturiser immediately after taking a shower or washing your face will help lock-in moisture.
20 Dispatch February 2012
Apply moisturiser frequently, especially after washing your hands and avoid cotton gloves, which absorb moisture and stay wet.

CARING FOR THE ELDERLY From The Field To The Freezer How Wiltshire Farm Foods’ carefully prepared frozen meals are helping people stay independent. For those who’ve worked hard all their lives, maintaining independence is particularly important - especially when it comes to mealtimes. Wiltshire Farm Foods is one company that’s keen to help those who can’t get out and about as much, so they can eat well and look after themselves. Established for more than 20 years, Wiltshire Farm Foods creates and delivers a delicious range of frozen meals that can be cooked in minutes. From the field, to the freezer, every detail is considered in order to offer nutrition, value, flavour and awardwinning personal service. Ingredients are selected from carefully approved suppliers and are then prepared by a
team of nutritionists and award-winning chefs in their Wiltshire kitchens.
Most dishes take 8-12 minutes in the microwave or 35 minutes in the oven.
Once cooked, the meals are placed into handy trays that fit easily into the freezer, then frozen almost immediately to lock in the freshness.
As they are cooked in their trays, there is no preparation, no pots and pans, just delicious meals that you can enjoy in your own time.
Convenience is a key part of the Wiltshire Farm Foods offering. All meals can be ordered over the phone or online.
Maintaining independence has never been easier.
They’re then delivered by a friendly, local delivery driver, who is always happy to put meals away in the freezer if preferred. With the freezer stocked up, you know that a hot meal is only ever a few minutes away.
For more information about Wiltshire Farm Foods in Norfolk and North Suffolk, you can call 01362 699049 or visit www.wiltshirefarmfoods.com for a free brochure.
Recently, national treasure Ronnie Corbett joined Wiltshire Farm Foods for a TV and magazine campaign promoting the delicious meals - and the independence they bring. The TV adverts also feature Edith and Eric, who talk to Ronnie about the benefits of the service. If you’ve not seen them yet, keep a look out.

Norfolk-Based Richardson’s Buck The Trend A recent report that claims the UK Travel and Tourism industry is ‘neglecting’ the over 65s has been published, suggesting that a large proportion of senior executives ignore engaging with the older demographic. The survey, conducted by Barclays Corporate, found that 88% of senior executives claimed to be ‘highly engaged’ with the over 65s, yet 62% of businesses did not have any specific holidays catering for them. However, Norfolk-based company Richardson’s, whose holiday villages attract a huge number of older people, has spoken out against the industry’s bias towards younger holidaymakers. “It’s sad that the tourism industry seems to be ignoring the over 65s, but here at Richardson’s, we take great pride in the fact that over 50,000 people over 65 take their holidays with us each year,” says Greg Munford, the Group Chief Executive of Richardson’s Group. “We have an over 70% return rate, and many people choose to holiday multiple times each year with Richardson’s. Our holiday villages and specialist entertainment breaks have always
proven extremely popular with the older generation, and we include activities such as carpet bowls, ballroom dancing and sequence dancing.
Today, older people are physically fitter and mentally younger than ever. As a result they are becoming more adventurous, with the time and money to travel abroad regularly.”
We’ve no intention of stopping making the over 65s feel as welcome as possible.”
“As people continue to live longer and enjoy a healthier old age, we’ve tried to accommodate their needs, and provide relaxing holidays for the over 65s,” Greg continues.
Older people can also be put off taking a break due to circumstances that won’t have previously affected them - their age, and the travel insurance they need.
“We’ve got over 50 years’ experience in providing great value for money
holidays, and we don’t believe that having a fantastic holiday should be exclusively available to younger people. Many older people have told us how rejuvenated they feel after taking a break with us. Plus, our older audience also take advantage of the off-peak times on our boating holidays, so Richardson’s really do provide great holidays for all age groups.”
Going abroad is made difficult for the over 65s as insurance companies begin to restrict their cover. “Being able to travel is a key way of staying active in later life,” says Danny Palmer, Insurance Manager of goodtogoinsurance.com. “But some over 65s find it difficult to find an insurer that is willing to give them cover.
