SPIRE Academy Overview

SPIRE Academy is one of the most uniquely designed and forward-thinking Academic, Athletic, Personal Skills and Career Preparation organizations and complexes in the world.

SPIRE offers high school students an accredited, college preparatory, 9-12th grade curriculum/diploma. Academy sports programs in 2023-2024 include basketball, esports, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, track and field and wrestling. SPIRE also offers a post graduate/gap year program.

SPIRE’S experienced faculty, coaches, performance specialists and college & career counseling staff are dedicated to delivering an atmosphere that produces strong, confident, dedicated student athletes. Our goal is to develop everyone to excel both in/out of the classroom and inside/outside the competitive arena.

GLOBAL STUDENT BODY

With over 80 students representing 22 countries and 16 states in the fall 2022 class, SPIRE has truly become an international academic and athletic community that brings together every type of culture. This means more opportunities for our student athletes to grow, not only as athletes, but also as well-rounded individuals being influenced by peers from across the globe.

CHALLENGING CURRICULUM

From advanced high-school classes through AP and university-level courses, our curriculum of core courses and electives challenges our students at every level. Post graduate students can take up to two classes for college credit per semester via Kent State – Ashtabula.

AMAZING PEER GROUP

SPIRE has established a truly amazing community of athletes and learners within multiple sports, all working to realize their full potential on and off the athletic field and in and out of the classroom.

HIGH-ACHIEVING GRADUATES

THE FACILITIES

Our facilities are world class and designed to build champions at every level, including an 800-acre campus and 750,000 square feet under roof. We’re here to make you a better athlete so you can compete at the highest levels.

If you’re a Track and Field athlete, you can train year-round in our premier indoor and outdoor facilities. If you’re a Swimmer, take a lap or two in the “fastest pool in North America.” If you’re a Hooper, we’ve got eight hardwood courts for your competition, training and practice, including one from the nearby Cleveland Cavaliers. SPIRE boasts a top of the line Performance Training Center, new Wrestling Center in development, indoor and outdoor Lacrosse and Soccer fields with more coming in 2023.

THE LOCATION

SPIRE partners with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, responsible for attracting over 210 major sporting events to northeast Ohio, improving the economy of Greater Cleveland and enriching the community by attracting, creating, managing and enhancing significant sporting and competitive events.

SPIRE’s annual impact statewide is estimated at $90 million with over 1,000 jobs sustained. Geneva is uniquely situated in northeast Ohio, just 45 minutes from downtown Cleveland and local attractions such as:

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Guardians.

Playhouse Square - the largest performing arts center in the country outside of New York City.

ADMISSIONS

Next steps for applying to SPIRE: Complete an online application, including submitting letters of recommendation and academic records.

Schedule a campus visit which includes time to meet with coaches, shadow classes and tour facilities. If you are not able to visit campus, schedule a virtual visit with an admissions counselor.

After an application is submitted and favorably reviewed by the admission committee, a contract will be sent. A signed contract with deposit will enroll the student. SPIRE works on rolling admission and accepts applications while space is available.
