A. if you are starting out in the music industry I am sure you have cross the path of frustration as you attempt to get your music noticed by others who will hopefully help you to reach stardom. However, at this point you don’t need to focus on developing a fan base. Your primary focus is to merge with other wellknown and established community artists in your area.
Q. How do I contact other Community Artists in my area?
A. Look into venues such as festivals, charity events, local campaigns and artists concerts in your community. Check out the venues and talk to those performing at the event to learn how to get booked at the next event.
Q. Social Media and Marketing
A. Social Media is a great outlet if you are an established artist like U2, James Brown or Rihanna. However, an unknown artist will find little support in the social media rift. Your music tends to get lost amongst the heavy hitter. Again, focusing on establishing yourself within your community will give you more exposure. Also, contacting charities such as 5k marathons, homeless shelters, etc will help you to
reach a larger fan base as well as give you media exposure for your contribution and it’s free.
Q. How do I get my music on the radio
A. Traditional radio stations cost a lot of money to get the appropriate amount of air play that will give you the exposure needed to reach the top ten playlists. However, there are plenty of online radio stations that are helping upcoming artist reach new audiences worldwide. Gone are the days where you have to beg a music producer or music company to listen to your music. You can launch your music on several online radio for others to hear.

There are plenty more online radio station to help you promote your music. However, these are the top 3 online radio station that are musician friendly. Most of the online radio stations tend to have higher fees and charge for standard gigabytes which when you play your music will easily eat through the cost of air play.
Podcasting is another option for promoting your music online. Setting up your own online podcast can help you to achieve exposure. Again, you must have a fan base already in place for this to work. Many times, we spend hours setting up stations only to have no
audience to hear our music or shows. So beware, many of these podcasts program charge a lot of money for promotion. If you do not have a fan base already established this will prove to be a waste of time.

A. This is always one of those questions that musicians get tongued tied over. The fact is, if you want people to start talking about your music, then you need to start talking about the music in your genre. You can start by posting music review in your genre. Discuss
relevant topics and events in your specific genre. Know the history of your genre, share some knowledge and get people talking about other things and your music will float right along into the ears of audiences who are already listening to your specific genre.

A. First of all, if you are a great writer then this is a great opportunity for you to connect with others in your specific target audience. Sign up for any blogging
site and begin posting information that people want to hear about in your specific arena.
However, if you are not sure about blogging and don’t know much about writing then connect with a blogger online in your genre. Send them some information about your music. Check You Tube and connect with
others in your genre and see if they would like to share some information about new artists. Send them freebies like T-shirts etc. Offer them a discount for their audiences.

A. New artists whether solo or bands find this one of the most difficult tasks. It is important to play at as many events as possible. One of the ways to get out there is to go to unconventional venues. For instance,
talk to your local flea marketers, farmer’s markets, grocery stores and community outreach programs. They love to have artists in the mix because they attract consumers and street traffic.

A. Entering online contest such as A& R Media. Even if you don’t get a contract if you can get your music in the top 10 then you know your music is worth playing.
