Australian degree
A
t S P Jain School of Global Management, we strive to produce future business leaders that are innovative, flexible and extremely competent in using business tools and concepts, whilst drawing on their understanding of the real world and global awareness.
All of these ideas are embodied in our School, our programs and our ethos: • We pride ourselves on offering a first class educational experience, benefitting from the talents of our extremely qualified global faculty, whilst continuing to be pioneers at the forefront of business education, innovation and technology. • We believe very strongly in interactive, blended and engaged learning methodologies; taking part in simulations and engaging with business practitioners; rather than relying only on textbooks. • We believe that one has to experience global cultures. We are the first school in the world to deliver a tri-city learning model across Dubai, Singapore and Sydney (just one of our many “firsts”). This gives our students direct experience of three different cultural and business environments. This year we opened a fourth campus in Mumbai. • We attract and recruit high performing faculty and students from around the world. One of our recent graduates says that she “recommends this program to aspiring students for the diverse faculty resource it provides which she feels is truly exceptional. There are professors with 20 years of experience on Wall Street; professors from the University of Cambridge; experts in operations management and derivatives from India; to name only a few.” Being taught by some of the most highly rated professors in the Asia-Pacific region was an experience in itself for her. The learning journey she feels has been beyond description and the entire experience has enabled her entire class to become global citizens. I can personally testify to this after meeting with faculty in the new Mumbai campus. One staff member was the former head of analytics and derivatives at Citibank. Most had extensive consultancy experience and were CEO’s of their own companies. These are not your typical university ivory-tower academics! • Our programs enable our students to gain a competitive edge in their careers. At S P Jain, we offer you extraordinary opportunities to interact with global business leaders and thinkers, and make deep and lasting connections with your peers from around the world. Our goal is to challenge, inspire and empower you to be the best you can be, and to achieve whatever you aspire to achieve. If all of this resonates with you, if you are passionate about a successful career in business, please visit us – we look forward to welcoming you at one of our vibrant campuses, or drop-in online at http://www.spjain.org. LUCAS GONZALES FROM S P JAIN’S PIONEER COHORT GRADUATED IN APRIL 2014, AND IS EARNING 50% MORE THAN HIS PEERS FROM LOCAL UNIVERSITIES IN BRAZIL. HERE’S WHAT HE TELLS US… Instead of looking for a job in Australia after graduating from S P Jain’s BBA, a very attractive offer brought me back home to South America. I have been working ever since in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the largest city in the entire Western Hemisphere. I work as the Import Manager for Mega do Brasil, a B2B (business-to-business) company that imports personal care electronics like hair dryers and barbering equipment from China. In just one year, I have already gone on two business trips to China to meet with suppliers and manufacturers, and negotiate partnerships for our company. Although I studied marketing in S P Jain, it turns out that I do a lot of finance and operations-related tasks. I am our in-house Microsoft Excel expert, because my skills are better than our accountant’s! Another responsibility is to find legal ways to work around Brazil’s excessive taxation laws and manage an accounts receivable system in Oracle. My job pays about 50% more than what my friends earn with degrees from respected universities in Brazil. My salary package includes a two-bedroom apartment, a nice car and lunch every day. S P Jain gave me an excellent preparation for my career in international business. I learned to be comfortable around people from other cultures. This has allowed me to be successful during my business trips to China. S P Jain also helped me develop my communication skills. I know how to approach people, respond to them and interpret their actions, even if they are not Latinos. I got exposed to Asia and that has proven to be key for me. I was very shy before coming to S P Jain. Now, I can communicate much more comfortably with people from other countries, in both business and social settings. My advice to new students is to take your courses seriously from day one. During your first year, you will be tempted to have fun and enjoy your freedom. However, believe me — you will need all the knowledge from the first year to succeed in the final years. Also, pay attention in your Excel and Communication classes. These are some of the most important skills you will need to impress people in the business world. Finally, participate in a lot of activities. Even if you are not the team leader, participate, because that is how you will learn about the cultures of other students and make good friends. During my trips to China, I have travelled on bullet trains, represented my company at factory visits and attended banquets where I have had to eat jelly fish, frogs and sea slugs. Anybody who knew me before S P Jain will not believe this. I have become such a different (and more diverse) person since coming to S P Jain, and I am really glad that I was educated there.
