FROM THE PRESIDENT'S OFFICE

FRATERNALIST OF THE YEAR

SPJST Supreme Lodge to honor Helen Hegwood as '99 Fraternalist Congratulations

to Sister Helen Hegwood of Lodge 88, Houston on her selection as the SPJST's 1999 Fraternalist of the Year. The Supreme Lodge selected Sister Hegwood from a field of 22 outstanding nominees at the January meeting of the Supreme Lodge in Temple. In addition, four other fraternalists were named Honorable Mention honorees. They are: Janice Kaluza of Lodge 54, West; Betty Schwartz of Lodge 160, San Angelo; Ernest Spacek of Lodge 161, La Parita - Jourdanton; and Otis Beck of Lodge 177, Academy. Fraternalist Profile A loving wife, devoted mother and caring grandmother, Sister Hegwood, has been an active member of the SPJST for more than 50 years. In that time, her commitment to the high ideals of fraternalism has touched people of all ages. She has contributed countless hours to Lodge 88, Houston, assisting with various fund drives, committees and special projects. For many years, she worked with young people at the lodge, assisting with their district camp and with the teen dances. A lodge officer for 20 years, Sister Hegwood also served as president, secretary and treasurer of the Dramatic Club Hlahol and the Choral Club. For the past three years, she has served as director of the Choral Club. She is also presently serving as chaplain of the Birthday Club Sisters. Sister Hegwood's demonstrated fraternal commitment complements the extraordinary efforts she has made as an SPJST sales representative. A perennial statewide top producer, Sister Hegwood has sold at least $1

million dollars in life insurance each year for seven years. Her efforts have resulted in many new members for Lodge 88, Houston and have helped to increase the lodge's annual premium refund. In an acknowledgement of her outstanding sales ability, Sister Hegwood served as SPJST District Five State Field Representative for ten years and as a member of the SPJST Insurance Committee for 16 years. Sister Hegwood's fraternal effort extend well beyond her local lodge. She was instrumental in organizing the Third Age Learning Center at All Saints Church, which now includes all of the churches in the Heights and surrounding additions. She has participated in programs at the Sons of Hermann, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Veterans Administration Hospital. For 23 years, her beautiful singing has signaled the start and the finish of the Rosenberg Czech Fest. She has also shared her musical gift on many occasions with the residents of the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Homes in Taylor and Needville. An active promoter of Czech Heritage and Culture, Sister Hegwood has been a strong supporter of the Czech Cultural Center of Houston, the Czech Heritage Society, the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Daughters of America. The former Miss Helen Fusig, Sister Hegwood married King Hegwood in 1955. They have four children — all active in SPJST — and six grandchildren. Sister Hegwood, along with other statewide fraternalists, will be honored on Saturday, February 26 at the Lodge Officers Workshop at Lodge 25, Ennis. —SPJST-

In spite of all the doomsday-sayers, and much to the disappointment of many, January 1 came and went the same as any other year. But why would it not? Universal Life. Tailored to Meet Your Needs. Universal Life has been called many things: • The Plan of the Future • A Computer-Age Plan • A New Concept in Life Insurance • A Plan Custom-Designed for Each Insured It's all of these things. Here are some of the features of SPJST's Universal Life contract, which we call our "SPJST Flexible Protector Plan": Step 1: You elect an amount of insurance and select Death Benefit Option A or B (as described below). You can also select the amount of premium you want to pay and make the initial payment. Step 2: As each premium is received by SPJST, a small expense charge is deducted and the balance goes into your cash value account.

Step 3: At the beginning of each month, a charge for the life insurance protection is deducted from the cash value to pay the monthly life insurance protection costs. Step 4: Interest at current rates is credited to the fund each month.

Coverage is Flexible. You have a choice of two death benefits, Option A or Option B: Option A: Level Death Benefit. The death benefit is made up of life insurance and the cash value. Initially, this benefit is equal to the face amount. However, current tax law states that there must always be a certain minimum proportion of life insurance in the certificate. Therefore. as

the cash value approaches the face amount, the death benefit increases automatically. Option B : Increasing Death Benefit. The death benefit is equal to the face amount of life insurance protection plus the money in the cash value account

January 5, the lodge held election of convention delegates. Elected were Lorenda Baldwin (with Monte Baldwin as her alternate) and Helen Filipp (with David Baldwin as her alternate.) At the February 3 meeting, correspondence was read and members were reminded of the District Five meeting on February 13 at the Pasadena lodge. Also, it was announced that Lodge 139 will have seven members attaining fifty years of membership. This reporter and her daughter, Mary Anne Smith, spent their Christmas and the new year on the high seas of the South Atlantic visiting many of the islands whose only inhabitants were the thousands of beautiful penguins. Truly they are the most endearing and amazing creatures. Their antics and capers were always entertaining. The glaciers were very impressive. Some of them joined other glaciers when they reached the shoreline, forming a glacier a quarter of a mile long or longer along the water's edge. Icebergs were everywhere. Sometimes the ship was almost corn-

pletely surrounded by them. They came in all shapes and sizes, from little bergy bits to monstrous ones the size of three or four football fields. Some were the most beautiful shade of blue, especially when the sun shone on them. It was all very spectacular and thrilling, but one of the more thrilling aspects was to actually get to step onto the Antarctic Continent itself. Fraternally, Ora Faye Wilson —SPJST-

Lodge 151, Wharton

meets March 13 The Executive Committee has planned an exciting year of events for Lodge 151, Wharton and members are encouraged to attend the meetings. The March meeting will be held Monday, March 13, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. at Hinze's Bar B Que in Wharton, Texas. The meal will be served at 7 p.m. The business meeting will be held after the meal.

Member initiative is the heart and soul of the SPJST (Editor's Note: The following editorial by past Editor Rudy Sefcik is prominently posted at the Lodge 191, Lufkin lodge hall. Though yellowed with age, it conveys time-honored principles that provide the basis of our fraternal order. Brother Sefcik, who served as Editor from 1968 until 1992, passed away on July 13, 1993.) If someone pointed to a brick wall and asked you which brick is the most important you would consider his question somewhat queer. Bricks are small things. But taken together, they make a strong wall which may tower upward many stories. Each brick is important in its support of many tons of weight above it. Our jobs, our lives, even our membership in the SPJST are like that. We sometimes feel that our personal work or our personal interest in the home lodge or the entire SPJST are like that. We sometimes feel that our personal work or our personal interest in the home lodge or the entire SPJST are not important. Sometimes we envy those who are leaders, who do greater things. We even let ourselves down mentally and emotionally, and fall into a pessimistic pattern of thinking, "What's the use? Others are running things to their liking and it doesn't make much difference anyway, for I am just nobody. I can't do much." Brother and Sisters: There is a lot more to my membership in the SPJST than just belonging to it and

getting by. Personal responsibility is one of the important bricks which support the great wall of everyday life. The individual members of any lodge and the individual lodges of any fraternal organization constitute a tremendous socializing force, bringing individual members together for association in some mutual and common interest. The lodges, composed of individual members, wield a powerful influence in spreading the ideals of benevolence, humanity, brotherhood plus patriotism and education. It is so true that no nation is so strong or so rich that it will remain healthy and prosperous if its chizens lose their sense of personal individual responsibility. Likewise, no lodge can grow and prosper if its members feel indifferent, unimportant, belittling themselves in their own appraisal. In our SPJST, in our communities and in our country, what you and I do as individuals, how you and I feel as individuals, is very important. Each member is important to make our organization strong. If each of us does our part and offers support, with the feeling of belonging, with spirit of brotherhood, with understanding that no one owes us an easy living, with determination to play our part in our lodges, in our communities and in our nation, nothing can stop us from growing. For survival and success, there is no substitute for self-reliance and for working in cooperation. —SPJST-

"Personal responsibility is one of the important bricks which support the great wall of everyday life.

Lodge 180, Burleson addresses electric rates, taxes and bingo

Dear Lodge Members, The monthly meeting was held on February 6, 2000. Lodge President Lyman Larson led the members with the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes were read by Secretary Debra Rolock. The treasurer's report was read by Lyman Larson. Lanita Anglin from the Supreme Lodge was on hand to install our officers for 2000. A covered dish meal followed. Bingo will be played at our next meeting. All members are asked to bring $1 prize. Fraternally yours, Rose Marie Etheredge Reporter —SPJST-

The meeting at Lodge 180 was held February 2, 2000. Our President John Hilcher opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silent prayer for departed members and loved ones. The minutes from the previous meeting were read. The officers gave their respective reports. Electric Rate Reductions Sought President Hilcher went to the Johnson County Electric Co-op to see about getting the lodge to rate reduction on the elective bill since we are now open only on meeting nights and one Saturday a month for a dance. President Hilcher informed the members that we should see a decrease in our monthly bill. Chairman of Trustees Mr. Joe Babina brought to the floor a discussion on bringing bingo to the lodge as a means of support. He offered to do more research on what it would entail to have bingo. Property Taxes Addressed Also, Mr. Babina brought to the floor a discussion of the lodge's property taxes. Mr. Babina, Carmon Babina and Rhonda Hurtik offered to look into the possibility of seeing how our taxes can be reduced. They will look into whether we are in the city or county and how that effects our taxes. We wish to send our congratulations to Martha Pustejovsky who will receive her 50-year pin. Mrs. Pustejovsky has been a member of SPJST since October 1950. She currently resides at Huguly Place Retirement in Burleson, Texas. Best wishes to you, Martha, from SPJST Lodge 180, Burleson. The door prizes were won by Carol Hilcher and Rhonda Hurtik

St. Patrick's Day Dance March 11 Our next dance will be held on March 11, 2000. The doors open at 7:45 p.m. The dance is from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 am. It is BYOB. The kitchen will be open for business. It will be a St. Patrick's Day celebration. Wear green or risk getting pinched. So, all you little Leprechauns, come out and enjoy a night of fun. You just may find that pot of gold. The Rio Grande band will play your favorite tunes to dance by. Happy Shamrock Day to everyone. Oops! It must have been a slip of the pen. The Just Us band will play at the Sweetheart dance February 12, 2000 instead of the Rio Grande Band. My apologies for the error. Ann Sammet Reporter —SPJST-

SPJST expresses appreciation to longtime members Membership in the SPJST begins with the simple purchase of a life insurance certificate or annuity. After that, it becomes a matter of personal commitment. It is that dedication that gives our Society its depth of character and fraternal balance. May we all offer thanks and appreciation to the many SPJST members who are achieving membership landmarks this year.

Listed below are the members who will receive their "Age 96" certificates in 2000. As such, these members are entitled to all SPJST member benefits with no further dues or assessments required. Congratulations to all of these special members! Our 2000 75year members are identified to the right of this column. The listing of 2000 50-year members follows below. -SPJST-

Lodge Letters (Continued from page 9.) a card with a monetary gift from the Club as thanks for her many years of loyal and dedicated service as secretary. Merel decided to retire. She will be missed as secretary as she did such a fine job. A round of applause was given to Merel. I learned after all this time that I had been misspelling Merel's name as it is not Merle, but Merel. Sorry about that Merel. I am sure Linda is thinking that it will be a hard act to follow as secretary, but Linda, we know you will do a good job. A door prize was brought by Libbie Vrla with Pat McWilliams being the lucky winner. Linda Lewis brought a Valentine Frog Bank which was used as the grand prize for the last game. The Friendship Club's denim quilt made by Billy King was raffled off with Pat McWilliams being the winner. This was Pat's lucky day as she was a double winner—door prize and quilt. A round of applause was given to Annie Whitsell for handling the ticket sales and she reported $106 was made for the Club. Also thanked was Frances Matthews for the cash donation toward the quilt fund. Last, Annie thanked Anna Johnson for the film as Annie is our historian and is always taking photos of special events. Sunshine Report Sunshine Chairperson Linda Horner reported sympathy cards were sent to Mrs. Prill's family; to Georgia Davidson on death of her sister; and to Mary Ann Kozel and Martha Boenisch on death of their brother. Get well cards were sent to Camille Bolcer, Martha Boenisch, Katherine Garrison, Anna Johnson, Lucille Kret, Jeanie Mason, Nettie Naugle and Rose Romeo. Linda further read thank you notes from Georgia Davidson, Camille Bolcer, Martha Boenisch, Father Sal for the Christmas money gift and on behalf of herself, thanked everyone for the get well cards she received while sick with the flu. Hopefully, everyone is well by now, but we still had some missing at the meeting. Three of our hostesses were absent due to illness, but Lillian Smith and floating hostess Nettie Naugle got lots of help from other members. All were thanked by President Jo. Harold Balvin, Bessie Brezina, Anna Johnson and Annie Whitsell were reminded they are scheduled to be hostesses in March. The singing of "Happy Birthday" went out to January celebrants Frank Kovar, age 91 and Margie Kret with February celebrants being Roy Alholm, age 83, Rosemary Gribble, age 94, Billy King, Mary Ann Kozel, Rose Nieswiadomy and Pauline Cox. May all of you have many more. I noticed that Frank Kovar has kept his beard (started growing it while his arm was in a sling) and he is beginning to look a lot like Kris Kringle. News of Members Camille Bolcer was missed as she had an operation on her left hand on January 31. I understand she is feeling much better, is home from the hospital and has her daughter in-law staying with her.

Thanks, Meryl. The Fort Worth Friendship Club honored retiring Secretary Merel Kovar for her many years of loyal and deciated service at their February meeting. Merel is pictured above with her husband, Frank. Both are members of Lodge 154, Fort Worth. Rose Romeo was missed at the meting as she was having her blood work done for knee surgery to be on February 15. Hope all went well for you. Billy King was also missed as her son was having an operation on his spine on the day of our meeting. Hope all went well for him, too, as this was a serious surgery. Martha Boenisch had a hernia operation on December 30, but she was at the meeting, looking great and was up to her usual fun self. Her grandson, Bud, showed his calf at the Fort Worth Stock Show and from there, he will go on to the San Antonio and Houston Stock Shows. Here's hoping he comes out a winner. Bud lives down the road from Martha in Lake Worth. Alice Barnes reported on her first great-granddaughter being born on New Year's Day. Pauline Walker also has a new addition to her family of a new great-grandson. And, Bessie brezina reported on a new great-grandson, Jacob Daniel, born on January 3 to Jermy and Lisa Syrus of Alvarado. This makes Bessie way over 30 greatgrandchildren. She said she lost count sometime back. Needless to say, these were three happy great-grandmas. Congratulations! Rosemary Gribble was proudly showing off wedding photos of her granddaughter, Heather Noel Riney, who was married to Tommy Moss last summer at the Denton Bible Church. Heather's nine year-old son, Jacob Heis, was best man while her eight year-old daughter, Katherine Heis, was maid of honor. The newlyweds are making their home in Denton. Heather had her 30th birthday on December 16 and on December 18, graduated Cum Laude from the University of North Texas. She was on the Dean's List all her college years. Heather is the daughter of Frank and Rosemary Riney of Aledo. Of course, Rosemary is most proud of her and has every right to be. Pauline Cox made a recent trip to Las Vegas. Hope you came back a winner. Joe Prochaska was also a recent winner of a $50 gift certificate from Albertson's at a function at Billy Bob's. Rosie Steinman visited the St. Teresa's relics while at Arlington

Convention Center and stated how impressive the event was. I believe she made two trips to view the display. Yes, she was also showing off her photo album of the event. Anna Johnson was showing off the book, "Cookbook of Life Within Three Centuries," published by the Fort Worth Star Telegram of folks over 100 years of age. Anna had a friend to be featured in the book. Roy and Lydia Alholm are looking forward to their daughter in-law, Kathy Alholm, and her son, Danny, flying in from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, to visit son, Timothy at SMU. While here, the Alholm family will have a February birthday celebration at the El Fenix Restaurant. Kathy's birthday is on the 14th, R.L's is on the 22nd, Danny's on the 25th and Roy's on the 26th. Bet that Frances gets in on this party, too! Lydia and Roy are also looking forward to picking up Sister Charlotte Vesely, of the Mother House at Lisle, Illinois at the airport on the 21st of February. While in Fort Worth, Sister Charlotte, who taught school at St. Thomas for many years, will be staying with Anna Marie Moncrief; Sister Charlotte is the one who taught Anna Marie to play the piano so beautifully. Hope all of you have a wonderful visit. I am so lucky to have friends who like to bake and share as I did enjoy the prune kolaches from Lydia Alholm, poppyseed and prune kolaches from Agnes Reznicek and gingerbread muffins from Anna Marie Moncrief. They were all wonderful and made eating breakfast so special. Thanks, ladies! I had a note from Mary Kay, Mary Pavey's niece in Alabama, in which she wrote that Mary has not been feeling well and doesn't get out of bed anymore. We think of you often, Mary and send our love. Following the meeting, grace was said, lunch was served and games were played. Our next meeting will be March 1. See you then. Libbie Vrla, Reporter —SPJST-

What's an finnuity? Many people buy homes even though they have no intention of ever living in them. Instead, they lease the property and collect rent at regular intervals. They have made an investment of capital for the sole purpose of producing a regular income. An annuity is a similar kind of arrangement . . . The basic purpose of an annuity is to distribute a regular, guaranteed lifetime income through a scientific liquidation of invested capital: Annuities start with a sum of money that has either been paid in a lump sum (single pay annuities) or has been accumulated through payments over a number of years (deferred annuities). In planning for retirement, a person may want to "send money ahead" by making regular payments to an annuity years before retirement. At retirement, the annuity will be ready to make payments back to supplement retirement income ... — Introduction to Life Underwriting,

Fayette County Chapter of the CHS of Texas meets The Fayette County Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society of Texas met on Sunday, January 16, 2000 at the Senior Citizen Center at 255 North Franklin La Grange for its regularly scheduled quarterly meeting with 38 members and one guest in attendance. President Cathy Chaloupka called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. She extended greetings in Czech welcoming everyone and wishing them a Happy New Year. Guest Edwin Moudry was introduced as well as Sandra Matthijetz presenting the program for the meeting. President Chaloupka stated that she had received an enormous number of responses to the gracious hospitality extended to everyone by the Fayette County Czech Heritage Chapter at the State Meeting held November 20, 1999 at the SPJST Hall in Fayetteville. She praised the Chapter for being outstanding hosts and giving special thanks to Elmont and Georgia Vyvial for coordinating the responsibilities of the kitchen, preparation of the meal, supplies etc.

and all those who helped make things run smoothly. In regards to the Fayette Chapter offering a $250 scholarship to a Fayette County student, President Chaloupka stated that she conferred with others providing scholarships regarding collecting information from applicants. She drafted a brief outline of application forms for students to submit for the scholarship and that a candidate would be selected based on an essay, "What Being a Czech Means to Me." She is seeking two or more people who are impartial to select a recipient. The deadline to submit an application for the scholarship is March 31. The scheduling of meetings was discussed and President Chaloupka asked if they would like to have the combined picnic with the SPJST Lodge 1 as in the past years. A motion was made by Lowell Kubala and seconded by Carolyn Meiners to have the combined picnic at Polansky's Lake at Rek Hill. The motion carried. Following is a schedule of the Chapter's meetings for the year 2000: April 16—Senior Citizen's Activity Center in La Grange June 11—Annual Picnic September 10—Senior Citizens Activity Center in La Grange. December 12—Christmas party Cathy also mentioned the possibility of having a picnic basket lunch at the the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Grounds. In regards to the 1999 Christmas party, President Chaloupka asked members to give a hand of applause to Willie Mae and Ernie Smahlik for their gracious hospitality at their lovely historic home in Columbus. The Smahliks in turn extended an invitation to have the Chapter's Christmas party there again this year which was enthusiastically accepted by everyone. The third issue of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center 2000 Calendar is still available at a cost of $10 which has more color pictures and is of glossy print per Carolyn Meiners. She also stated that Robert Janak is taking on another project with the thought of putting together a Texas Czech Encyclopedia which no one else has ever done so this will be another first. He is also working on the Czech exhibit at the Texan Cultural Center in San Antonio and is in the process of collecting data for a touch screen computer generated program to view video segments of Czech heritage from one generation to another and is contacting each Czech Heritage Society Chapter to participate. He plans to come in October to film the Fayette Czech Singers and Dancers teaching children to sing and dance. President Chaloupka stated that Carolyn Meiners was our little Czech ambassador of Fayette County and congratulated her again in receiving the 1999 Texas Czech Heritage Award. She also acknowledged Helen Mikus for promoting Czech Heritage through singing, dancing and educating the children to be proud of their Czech ancestry. Cathy said that every time she sees Jerome Mazoch on the street, he is promoting Czech heritage and seeking members for the Society which all of us should be doing. She gave each and everyone the challenge of "What is it I Can Do to Contribute to the Society?" Starting this may be through your experience in a particular field and volun(Continued on page 17.)

Fayette County (Continued from page 16.) teering your services would greatly contribute if finances are not always available in the way of monetary donations. Installation of the year 2000 officers and directors was held and Jerome Mazoch installed the following reading over the responsibilities of each of them: President Cathy Chaloupka Vice President—Helen Mikus Secretary/Reporter—Irene Polansky

Treasurer—Rudy Minarcik Historians Georgia Hrachovy, Helen Mikus

Directors Carolyn Meiners and Elmont (Completing their two-year terms); George Hranicky, Rudy Kaderka, Lowell Kubala, Jerome Mazoch and Jerome Zezula, one-year terms As one of the projects at Monument Nursing Home in La Grange, Betsy Chovanec is interviewing residents there recording their family histories and family stories using tape recorder from the Chamber Office. Cathy emphasized the importance of everyone recording their family history and should take the project on as you would your spring cleaning—taking it one day at a time. She related to the cleaning/polishing of her silver and not wanting it to tarnish and she did not want to see Czech heritage tarnish either. She stressed patriotism, education and preservation and that each person should find their knack preserving the Czech culture. With emphasis on all of the above, Cathy introduced Sandra Matthijetz of Winchester who previously worked at the Wendish Museum at Serbim and is now employed as fund raiser and collecting funds for the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center at La Grange as of August, 1999. Her office is located at the Betco Building, 45 North Jefferson in La Granger and is there to help anyone regarding questions they may have regarding the Center. She stated that the Victoria Czech Heritage Society and Victoria Chamber of Commerce had recently made a $500 donation to the Center. In addition to seeking grants and matching fund contributions, heavy emphasis is being placed on seeking donations as follows: Individual Donation—$35; Family Donation— $50; Corporate Donation—$240. (In regards to monetary donations, it should be noted or earmarked on the check as to what you want to contribute to; and/or in memory of; or in honor of an individual paving stone, etc.) With the above donations, they will receive four "Nos Cesky Zivot" Newsletters and a millennium year 2000 Texas Czech calendar. Again, funds to be raised are for building a state-of-the-

art history museum/library archives, language center, amphitheater, living history, farmstead and village and are for picnics, etc. The amphitheater is the first to be constructed which can be used for concerts, plays, Easter services, back stage, Jazz festivals to help generate funds. Per Carolyn Meiners, "ground breaking" is scheduled for late April with actual dirt moving, etc. to start in October or November. Some are still overwhelmed at the cost of the entire center, but the board members are dong everything right and it will be in slow steps noting that the board of 15 members are paying out of their own pockets to attend these meetings and the person collecting funds is paid a salary and not on a percentage basis as rumored. Items donated are being stored at a bank facility and for larger items, donors will need to get in touch with Marvin Marek. Members were also reminded to pay their Czech Heritage membership dues which are $12 of which $2 is the local Chapter and $10 for the state which are due January 31, 2000 to Rudy Minarcik in order to be on the roster. Cathy Chaloupka mentioned that Frenstat in the Czech Republic has agreed to be a sister city of La Grange and anyone wanting to take part in the Sister Citizen group is invited to attend a meeting on January 20 at 4 p.m. to preserve and promote the Czech and German heritage. She also noted that the Texas Settlement Trails is working with the La Grange Chamber of Commerce in putting together historical information of the area. In regards to protecting the lovely Fayette Chapter banner, there was some discussion as what type of plastic cover should be put on it. Suggestions was made to check with other chapters and checking with fabric shops or auto cover centers. Helen Mikus reported that the Fayette Czech Singers and Dancers have been asked to perform at the Fort Bend County Czech Fest at Rosenberg on May 6, 2000 and the Spring Time Festival at Columbus on May 20, 2000. She invited everyone to join the group announcing the next practice is scheduled for January 23, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. dancing and 7 p.m. singing at the SPJST Hall in Fayetteville. Helen Mikus presented a Czech Information Quiz to members to complete within a ten minute time frame and Carolyn Meiners answered the most questions correctly and won a lovely wreath made by Helen Mikus. A lovely album put together by Robert H. Roesner and tape of the November 20 meeting at Fayetteville was circulated among members. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned and a drawing was held for the door prize which was won b:s., Adolph Janecka. Irene Polansky —SPJST-
