"For Mission 2100 to succeed, we must involve all levels of the SPSJT towards achieving these energetic goals," said SPJST Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride, principal architect of the plan which seeks to generate at least 2,100 new member certificates in the year 2001.
Vice President McBride, accompanied by State Youth Director Melanie Zavodny, outlined the program and incentives offered. Incentive guidelines are as follows: Local Lodge Incentives Provided that the SPJST meets the 2,100 application quota and the lodge achieves its individual lodge quota, the lodge will receive one-and-a-half times its lodge incentive award amount. For example, if a lodge has a quota of 25 new members (Gold Award) and meets its quota and the SPJST achieves 2,100 applications, the local lodge will receive $1,000 x 1.5 = $1,500. Lodge quotas are posted on page three of the Vestnik. Monthly lodge progress reports will be posted in the Vestnik. DISTRICT YOUTH COUNSELORS
Short Course Offers Direction It's Good to Know Thanks to the approximately 120 SPJST members who turned out early on February 24 to participate in the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) general information workshop. The hour-and-a-half morning sessionwas presented courtesy of the TABC and in conjunction with the SPJST's Mission 2100 Briefing and Lodge Recognition and Incentive Banquet held at Lodge 24, Cyclone. "I appreciated and enjoyed the TABC short course," says George Pauling of Lodge 66, Waco. "The presenters delivered a lot of practical information that you should know if you're going to allow alcohol to be sold or consumed in your lodge building." Issues related to TABC enforcement, compliance and educational programming were addressed by TABC Officers Harry Schreffler and Dan Garcia. Officer Schreffler underscored the importance of "seller training programs" sanctioned by the TABC. While they are not required, they are "highly recommended," said Officer Schreffler. Seller training programs cover the laws concerning the sale or service of alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated customers, as well as techniques to prevent such sales. According to Officer Schreffler, if the "employees" of a license holder are all certified and are not encouraged by their employer to violate alcoholic beverage laws, the Commission will not take action against the licensee or permittee for an alcoholic beverage offense committed by an employee.
Participants were encouraged to ask questions during and after the presentation. "That was really the best part," says Brother Pauling, who also serves as District Three Fraternal Activities Coordinator. "Each lodge is different with its own set of questions and age-old misinformation. A lot of questions got answered." In addition, TABC officers also provided instructional literature and posters for participants. If you would like additional information related to TABC compliance, enforcement and educational programming 'you may contact the TABC directly, via the Internet at questions@tabc.state.tx.us . You may also visit the TABC website at www.tabc.state.texas.us . The TABC, which is based in Austin, Texas, can also be reached by phone at (512) 2063333. Information relating to locating a qualified server training program in your area may be obtained by calling the TABC at (512) 206-3420. Got a general question related to TABC compliance, training or education that you'd like to see addressed in the Vestnik? Or, maybe you'd like to host a "seller training program" or TABC workshop at your lodge? If so, please give us a call at (800) 727-7578 and we'll do what we can to help.
"Issues related to TABC enforcement, compliance and educational programming were addressed."
Coming Next Week ... Profiles on past District Five Director Louis Hanus and past District Six Director and Supreme Lodge Chairman Matt Vanek which were originally scheduled to appear in this week's Vestnik will appear next week. Thank you for your attention. —SPJST-

Around the State District Two Spring Meeting March 18 at Lodge 18, Elgin Special Notice to All District Two Members: This year's District Two Spring Meeting location has been changed to Lodge 18, Elgin on Sunday, March 18. Registration will start at 12 noon and the meeting will start at I p.m. instead of 2 p.m. All members who register by 1 p.m. will receive a ticket for a $75 cash prize drawing. We will have snacks available for those who arrive between 12 noon and 1 p.m. We want all members to be on time for this very important meeting. Not only will we conduct our normal business meeting consisting of reports, 50 and 75 year members, and Fraternalists of the Year nominees, we will also have a program conducted by Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride on the Mission 2100 program. As most of you know, the Mission 2100 program is a membership campaign for 2001 in which all members are asked to recruit new members. SPJST needs 2100 new members in 2001, and there's some really great incentives for getting those people to join the SPJST! In addition to the Mission 2100 program, Gene will also conduct an officer training seminar. This seminar will cover all officer duties of SPJST lodge officers, and will include a question and answer session. It's mportant that all lodge officers attend this district meeting. Our evening meal will be a delicious dinner prepared by Lodge 18, Elgin. The cost is $2 each and will include meat, vegetable, dessert, and drink. As those of you know who have attended meetings hosted by this lodge, they do a fantastic job of getting the food for us and having the lodge set up "just right" for all the things we do during the spring meeting. Again, be at the meeting no later than 1 p.m. to be eligible to win the $75 door prize. In closing, I strongly urge all members of District Two to attend and espe41INP"t.--11-1011111111 1k. 1•11111111111111, 111111111111/

Mission 2100 (Continued from page 1.) achieve its individual lodge quota before the following lodge officer incentives are awarded. Lodge officers, as defined in the SPJST By-Laws, will have their names entered in a drawing and the winners will be awarded trips. The trip value would be assessed according to the category the lodge achieves in the Lodge Recognition and Incentive Program. The number of trips awarded will be determined after the final count of qualifying lodges at the end of 2001. The SPJST will award one trip for every four qualifying lodges per category. If there are extra lodges in a category, an extra trip will be awarded for that category. For example, if at the end of 2001, the First Step category has 21 qualifying lodges, then six trips will be awarded. For years, it has been a favorite plan for parents and grandparents seeking to enroll their children and grandchildren in the SPJST. However, did you know that a Lone Pay Life certificate can be issued to individuals up to age 80? 40th Lesson. Relative Clause. The Conditional. 1) Relative clauses are introduced by relative pronouns kterS/ or jeni. Kterr is declined like an adjective of the type dobrjr, jeni uses, except for nominative, the forms of the personal pronouns for the third person (jeho, jemu, ji) plus the ending -2. Like personal pronouns they change initial j-into n- when used after prepositions. N. jeni, m.; jet, f.: jet. n.: ji , ma: jet, mif., n. G. jehoi; jii, jejii; jehoi; *la jejichi D.jemui; jii; jemui; jimi A. jehoi, jeji; ji ; jet; jet o demi; o nichi L. o nemi; o I. jimi; jit; jimi; jimii The forms that are not printed bold are seldom used. The pronoun kterY is preferred always, with the exception of the possessive jehoi, jeja, jejichl, where kterY cannot be used. Jeni is sometimes used after prepositions, because it is shorter. The gender and number of the relative pronoun agrees
with the noun it qualifies (and follows), the case is given by the function of the pronoun in the relative clause. Note: Unlike English the personal pronoun can never be left out.
f
2) The conditional is formed by means of the past participle and the auxiliary verb bych: bych, bys, by.; pracoval, -a, -o, bychom, byste, pracovali, -y, -a, by The reflexive verbs have in the second person singular the form by ses, by sis (smal by ses, myslel by sis). The auxiliary bych is enclitic, like jsem in the past tense and takes exactly the same position in the sentence. The uses of the conditional: 1) Conditional clause. The English ifs is replaced by kdy + bych in corresponding form. Observe: Kdybych mel 'eas, §el bych do kina. (If I had time, I would go to the cinema.) Kdybys mi 13461 penize, mohl bych si to koupit. (If you lent me money, I could buy it.) Kdybychom umeli nejakou eeskou jpisen, mohli bychom si ji ted' zazpivat. Kdyby nebylo Zeskoslovensko tak daleko, jezdil bych tam na navglevu kaidY rok. 2) Purpose and object clauses use the conditional with a- preceding the bych form. Observe: 'Rim se eesky, abych (in order to, so that) mohl eist Ceske knihy a easopisy. Chceme, aby byl potad mir. Rodiee mi napsali, abych se hned vratil domii (indirect order). 3) Conditional expressing wish, advice, order or careful statement: Rad bych ti neco fekl. (I would like to tell you something.) Sel bych se vykoupat. (I would like to go and havea swim.) To bys nemel &eat. (You should not do that.) Pujeil bys mi to knihu? (Would you kindly lend me the book?) Rekl bych, ie to neni pravda.
