It was my pleasure to attend the District Three Camp this year at Val Verde. I especially want to thank Bessie Petr and Gladys Yates along with all the parents who volunteered to brave the heat. , Camp is not possible without a lot of planning and hard work from these people. I was with the teens and I have to say, with all the negative media we hear about young people today, it was very reassuring to see such a mature, well-mannered group. You lodge parents have raised a great bunch of kids—you can be proud! Young people, keep up the good work and the fun! Fraternally, Vicki Moore —SPJST-

172, Pasadena reports on July meeting Lodge
President Robert Mayfield called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Roll call showed everyone present except Trustee Norman Tofte. Robert welcomed District Five Director Larry Pflughaupt and his wife, Dorothy, to the meeting. Since no errors were found, the Executive meeting minutes and the regular meeting minutes stand approved as printed. Secretary Josephine Mayfield read a thank you note from Tennie Walla thanking everyone for their help in her time of need. All correspondence was read and filed. President Mayfield read a letter from the Czech Cultural Center of Houston, thanking the members for their continuing support. An E-mail was received from from Districts One and Five State Field Manager Lynn Johnsen, stating that Robert Peterson had decided to move back to Fort Worth and no longer wanted to be a sales representative for SPJST. Another letter from Alford & Company Insurance was read, telling us that due to Anita Gammage being out on maternity leave, any claims we might have will have to be sent to the Somerville office.
Vice President Weldon Wilkerson stated that he has not heard from Kim of The Rose. As a result, he has not heard how much they made at the benefit. Financial Secretary Henrietta Krenek stated that the bank balance is still $1,296. We had one new member to vote on. Her name is Caroline Blake Kunetka of Houston and the sales representative was Vicki Dressler. A motion was made by Brother Zella to accept Caroline Blake Kunetka as a new member. Brother Stokley seconded motion. The motion was approved. She also stated that we had two death claims. Treasurer Tennie Walla told everyone that she still does not have a treasurer's report but will try to have one soon — hopefully in September. All reports were read and filed. Trustee Co-Chairman Art Wiederhold stated that Don Miller has disconnected the air conditioner that is not working and will be back as soon as he is able to put the new .one in. Entertainment Committee Chairman Josephine Mayfield stated that the band Diversions drew a crowd of 244 and that we have had 244 to 248 each time they play. Everyone seems to like this band. All of the talk about the band has been good. She told everyone that they took the curtains down off the stage since the gold curtains belong to Bobbye and not the lodge. She had planned to replace the curtains with string lights if it didn't cost too much. Josephine stated that she and Robert had priced the lights and found out that they would cost more than $100 per set. In talking to the salesman, he was told that she could put up small Christmas lights (like the ones we have up now) and put them around the stage to outline the stage. That way, we could change the color of the bulbs any time we wanted to for the holidays or special occasions. By using the string of lights we already have, we would save some money. She told everyone that in cleaning out the backroom and youth room, she and Vicki found about 10 or more strings of lights. They will try to get them put up on workday to see how they look. Josephine also stated that she has

—Submitted by Kathy Fritz, Reporter already started advertising the November 17 dance. Several people have put flyers out at work and in some of the stores near their homes. She said that she will announce the dance at the August, September, October and November dances in addition to putting flyers on all of the tables and in all of the stores that have public bulletin boards. She will also get the notice into the newspapers, including the Vestnik. The band will also distribute flyers for us. Either the last week in October or first week in November, she will send out postcards to the regulars to remind then of the dance. The band will be The Texas Roadrunners. They bring people in from the Crosby and Liberty areas. Julius Tupa called Jo to tell her about the country and western band that he has reorganized. He told her he would play for us if we need him and if he was available on that date. He also told Jo that he would put it on his radio show and in the paper for us. Josephine read the ad that she had put in the paper telling about the garage sale. She told everyone that it would be in the Pasadena Citizen on Wednesday (since that is the day the free paper comes out and everyone get the paper.) It will also be in the Thursday paper. It will cost $15 for the two-day ad. Robert wished everyone with a birthday in the month of August a happy birthday. Robert stated that the gentleman who was going to mow the back lot for the hay has failed to do so. Therefore, he said, we will call Paul Kamas and ask him to mow the grass. Vice President Weldon Wilkerson asked everyone to pay attention to the videotape he was about to show on Tutwiler Clinic in Tutwiler Mississippi. After the video, he stated that he would like for the lodge to make Tutwiler a fraternal project and help them out at Christmas or any time we can. Julius Zella suggested that we donate any clothing not sold in the garage sale to the Tutwiler Clinic as well as sample drugs, and toiletries that we might receive in the mail. A
motion was made by Brother Wiederhold to make the Tutwiler Clinic fraternal project. Brother Johnson seconded motion. The motion passed. Since we are having a garage sale Thursday and Friday and a dance on Saturday, it was suggested we change our workday to Monday, July 30 instead of Monday August 6. Robert told everyone that Evelyn Mikeska called and asked that we have a 'meeting at our lodge on Saturday August 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All officers are asked to attend. The meeting is to plan for the District Five Fall Meeting. Lunch will be served at the meeting. Seaton School pursues restoration with second sale The Seaton School Restoration Committee is continuing in its effort to raise funds to begin the restoration of the Seaton School building which was built in 1912 and which closed as a school in 1975. The Seaton School was the last remaining rural school in Bell County when it closed. It is located on Highway 53 approximately eight miles east of Temple. A portion of the school property currently serves as the Seaton Community Center. The initial phase of the restoration project is to replace the windows in the School building. Other restoration work such as replacement of electrical wiring, plumbing, painting will have to be done as funds become available.
The Restoration Committee is planning another gigantic garage and bake sale for September 15, 2001 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the School. The garage sale held in June was very successful in that some much needed funds were raised and persons interested in the restoration project had an opportunity to see the interior of the building and to discuss the planned restoration with Committee members. The Committee is again calling on members of the Seaton community, former students and all interested persons to donate items for the upcoming garage and bake sale. Donations of items for the garage sale will be accepted during the week of September 9 through 14 at the school. Persons interested in making donations of items for the garage sale or having questions may call Jane Williams in Zabcikville (254) 985-0251; Alton Fritz (985-2425) or Elvira Poboril (7735076) in Temple. Cash donations are also being accepted by the Committee and may be designated as a memorial donation if so desired. Questions relating to cash donations may also be directed to Mrs. Williams, Poboril or Mr. Fritz. The restoration project is a huge undertaking by a very proud community through the hard work and dedication of some of the schools former students and interested persons of the community. The ultimate goal is to restore and preserve a school building which will be an asset to the entire community and which can be used by all members of the community for many years to come. —SPJST-

Lodge 6, Cottonwood Youth Club member enjoys club activities Dear SPJST Readers, Thank you to everyone who made camp possible. We all had a great time. I can't waite till Peacable Kingdom! We took cakes to the nursing home for July birthdays. We made cakes for the cake walk and help set up everything for the picnic since we were not going to be there because of camp. While we baked cakes we surprised our youth leader, Peggy Dobecka, with cake and icecream, for her birthday. We also brought bingo prizes for the picnic. Hope to see everyone at Youth Achievement Day! Fraternally yours, Brooke Craig (13) 8/08/01 —SPJST-

13, Dime Box reports on July meeting Lodge
On July 21 we gathered at the hall for our monthly meeting. Vestnik projects and contests were completed. The district trip which will be August 1 was discussed. Anyone who wanted to go to Schlitterban needed to give Susan $15 dollars — $10 dollars for the bus and $5 dollars for a meal pass. Next, $2 dollars was collected for our social. Those who didn't pay, don't forget to get the money to Alicia at the next meeting. We had a dress rehearsal for Youth Achievement Day. A quick meal which consisted of hotdogs, chips, and ice cream came next. The Coke floats were good. Everybody who decorated the hall for Y A D did a really good job. A special thanks needs to go out to Aaron Markert. He did the drawing for the backdrop on the stage. District One Y A D was the next day at our lodge. First I would like to congratulate Justin Pinkard and Magan Zimmerhanzel for retaining the title of District 1 King and Queen. Congratulations to our senior group talent who won first place on the skit "The Colors are all the Same" and for everybody else who placed. All first place winners, we will see you at State Y A D on August 4. Until next time, Emily Jatzlau, Lodge 13 Reporter 8/8/01 —SPJST-

Lodge 47, Seaton Youth Club enjoys trip to Sea World Dear Readers, The Lodge 47, Seaton Youth Club took a summer trip to Sea World in San Antonio. We saw a show and played some games and had good time. Thanks to Youth Leader Heidi Bartek for making all of the plans for this trip. Fraternally, Patrick Greger 8/8/01 —SPJST-
Lodge 84, Dallas Youth Club member enjoys first YAD Dear Vestnik Readers, This was my first year to enter items for the District Three Youth Achievement Day (YAD) in Elm Mott, Texas on June 24. Wow! I was really excited about performing and winning first place for our group talent "Tarzan" with my friends, Cayla Cloutman, Desiree Christman and Ashley Andreason and competing with other kids my age. I
enjoyed watching the teenagers perform their routines. I am looking forward to next year's YAD. David R. Oberle, Jr., age 6 8/8/01 —SPJST-
