24, Cyclone reports on March meeting Lodge
Dear Fellow Members: Lodge 24, Cyclone met on Sunday afternoon on the dance floor of Flag Hall amid the drop sheets of the Sebek painters. The meeting was called to order by Vice President/FAC David Nauert, a two million dollar sales representative. He led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and called the roll of officers. Brian Vanicek was excused to be late. There was a moment of silence for our departed members Joe Haisler and Eva Johnson. A memorial was sent for all members who passed away during 2002. New insurance members were John Storey, David Nauert, Melanie Zavodny, Payton Mills, Ty Sebek, Angela Garcia, Johnathon Garcia, Randy Schiller, and Rose Rogers. Fifty-year members are Janice Cornelius, Judy Jeske, Patricia Lewis,

Yvonne Coston, Johnny C. Marek, Mary Nelson, Nancy Posvar, Marshall Ryan, and Harold Vanicek. Seventy five-year member is Edna Krupka. We appreciate all of you. One of our honorary members, J.R. Schiller is the rest home in West. Maybe we can send him a plate on April 5. SPJST Members are able to use'the Scott & White Pharmacy as members of the society. No other details were available. Flag Hall will not sponsor a barbecue cookoff this year. We have a lot of stuff in place; however, the return is not there. Coming Events Salem Lutheran Church will have a barbecue at Flag Hall on May 4; Our Mother's Day Barbecue will be on May 11; Ocker Brethren will have its Father's Day Barbecue on June 15 at Flag Hall; and Rosebud-Lott's Banquet is April 26. There is a huge issue on the liquor liability insurance. The insurance companies do not want to include BYOB. Our Treasurer Barbara Macek is wrestling with the solution. We soon are going to be hard pressed to get a buzz without whiskey. It will effect the fund raisers in the writer's estimation. The Board selected the Sebek bid for painting the hall. We know the hall will look special after their efforts. Brian Vanicek, our president and hopefully more someday, has worked with the Rogers School District on the taxes. He has had success, and we are beholden to him for his leadership. He has established a basis for having a standing to ask for the exemption. Our Texas Spring Gala is April 5 at Flag Hall. Guest entertainment will be by our honorary member, Lisa Dalzell also known as Miss Texas. She is also an Aggie. Whoop! There will be only 210 tickets sold. With the value that our tickets offer, there will be a sell-out. Word on the state banquet at Star Hall in Seaton is that our lodge did well and Brinks was not needed as checks were given and not bullion. Our lodge appreciates everyone who made this possible. Outreach 2003 District Two Director Frank Klinkovsky was a special guest and brought door prizes and some words of encouragement for the Outreach 2003 Campaign. The lodge moved to offer the hall for a lock-in for January 2004. Some talk was entertained about cleaning the floor tiles around the dance floor. Edward Hejl knows the straights of this project. Wilbert Mikeska and the board will jack with the ceiling tiles and build a roof over a fire area for the pits just in case it rains. Door prizes were won by Willie Mae Vanicek, Brian Vanicek, Milton Zavodny, Harold Vanicek, and Ginger Greger. Our marathon meeting adjourned at 4 p.m. The reporter is appreciative of the company kept by the person in the next chair. Fraternally, Bobby Hoelscher, Reporter —SPJST-

Margie Anders and Agnes Cheyney. You're Invited! The Choral Group presently has a roster of 27 members; and extends an invitation to anyone interested in singing and preserving the "old songs" of Czech heritage. This is an excellent way to improve one's language skills. Amazingly, the Czech language, as many others, is easier to sing than to speak. The Choral Group and the entire SPJST community was saddened by the deaths of Tim and Rosa Lee Kostom this past year. They devoted a lifetime of service to .the SPJST and, in particular, to the Choral Group. What better tribute can there be to their service and devotion than to carry on this tradition with a joyful song on our tongues and in our hearts! Evelyn V. It's nice knowing that your money remains safe and sound. That means a whole lot in today's volatile market. $10,000 placed in an SP.JST Annuity II account in May 1993 would be worth approximately $17,9100 today. No pain ... Nice gain! Encourage your youth to take some time at each meeting to recommend their friends on the "magic yellow cards." Then, mail these in to the Home Office. Please remind your youth members that the top prize for the youth who recruits the most new members (new applications) is the big trophy and a $250 shopping spree to his/her favorite store.
