It's Scholarship Application Time! Graduating high school seniors and college undergraduates who have been members of the SPJST for a year or more are invited to submit their requests for scholarship application forms for the 2005 academic year. Established in 1982, the SPJST Scholarship Program is funded by an allocation of the SPJST Supreme Lodge and through contributions by SPJST members. Accordingly, the more funds available, the more scholarships awarded. In 2004, the SPJST awarded a total of 67 scholarships for $67,500 through its scholarship program. To obtain an SPJST General Scholarship application and complete guidelines, please contact the SPJST Home Office at (800) 727-7578 or (254) 773-1575 and ask for the Scholarship Department.
Lodge 135, Ennis Member Charlie Jurcik Achieves Grand Age of 96 The SPJST congratulates Brother Charlie A. Jurcik, a member of Lodge 135, Ennis, who celebrated his 96th birthday on August 28, 2004. Brother Jurcik is now entitled to all SPJST member benefits with no further dues or assessments required. Born on August 28, 1908, Charlie was the son of Czech-born parents Alois and Anna Jurcik. who came to the United States in 1906. His brothers and sisters included Miro, Louis, Julius, Emil, Sadie, Blanche, Dagmar, Bertha, and Vlasta — all deceased. Siblings living are brother, Victor, and sisters, Annie, Libbie, and Vlasta. Brother Jurcik married Annastazie Ellevan in Waco, Texas, on November 3, 1931. She preceded him in death on October 30, 1986. Their children are Bernice Hamilton, Charles Jurcik, and Jeannette Zajic.
Charlie farmed in West, Texas and in Ennis, Texas. He also did carpentry work in Ennis. He was president of Ennis Sokol and was active in gymnastics for four years as director. He has been a member of Sokol for over 50 years and SPJST for over 50 years. Charlie remembers the difficult times during the Depression. He had to borrow $10 from the bank to live on for a month. Part of the $10 went to feed the farm mules, usually five dollars for groceries, and five dollars for hay. Charlie enjoyed building houses from the ground up and having them perfect. He was always proud of his carpentry. Charlie enjoys playing "42" dominoes. He used to play old Czech card games like Maria and Commando. He still plays "42" weekly. He has continued to live alone through the years doing his own house-cleaning and cooking. He has mowed his lawn until this year. Charlie resides in Ennis.

Get Well Soon, Director Krizan District Three Director Johnnie Krizan of West was recently hospitalized for about a week. He returned home where he will be recovering over the next few weeks. I talked with Johnnie, and he sounded great. He said to tell the members and friends thanks for all of their thoughts and concern. Johnnie, we are thinking about you, and we wish you a speedy recovery. Publication Committee Meets The Publication Committee met on Saturday, August 21 at the SPJST Home Office. I really enjoyed the meeting. We discussed all parts of the Vestnik. As always, if you have any ideas for the Vestnik, please contact me or Publication Committee Chairman Jarolyn Popp. The next Publication Committee Meeting will be Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the SPJST Home Office in Temple. I am very much excited and looking forward to working with our lodge reporters who send in articles and information to the Vestnik. They do an outstanding job each week, and I thank them for all of their dedication to the SPJST. Got Czech Recipes? One of the exciting ideas that came out of the Publication Committee meeting was for the Vestnik to feature Czech recipes. So, the Vestnik is now looking for Czech recipes. If you have a Czech recipe that you would like to share with the Vestnik readers, please send it in. SPJST on Parade in West Westfest is a Labor Day weekend tradition for me. I remember attending my first Westfest several years ago when I was Miss Czech Texas USA, and I've attended every year since. It's always hot—but it's always a lot of fun. The parade on Saturday morning, September 5 begins at 10 a.m. downtown West. SPJST will have several entries in the parade including the SPJST Float. The float will feature a
Czech theme and will carry members of Lodge 66, Waco Youth Club. State King Joshua Siptak, State Queen Jessica Schumann, State Duke Mark Siptak, and State Duchess Sara Sump will represent SPJST in the parade. Youth clubs from Lodge 6, Cottonwood and Lodge 183, Arlington will also participate in the parade. Mental Vitamin!
Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride shared this "mental vitamin" with me. He received it from Jack and Garry Kinder of the KBI Group. People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest anyway. What you spend years building, someone may try to destroy overnight. Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you have anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them, anyway. —SPJST-

SPJST Youth Program plans September, October Activities
SPJST Sales Representatives' Fall 2004 Class Schedule
Dear Youth Leaders and Assistant Youth Leaders, Greetings from the President's Office. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the success of this year's youth program. A great big thank you to everyone who helped with State Youth Achievement Day held August 7, 2004, at the Mayborn Convention Center in Temple! Your willingness to step forward and provide assistance helped to make the day a success. The talent and creativity displayed at this year's contest was outstanding. The September Vestnik project summarizes this year's State YAD and Royalty Competition. On a related note, the SPJST State Royalty Court will be making their first public appearance at the Westfest parade on Saturday, September 4. Their second appearance will be the following Saturday, September 11 at the Kolache Festival in Caldwell. I am excited about the year ahead and getting to know you better and to working with you through the SPJST Youth Program. If you've been reading the Vestnik, then you know that we are in the process of filling the position of SPJST State Youth Director. Several qualified individuals have applied for the position. Interviews will be conducted during the month of September. It is my goal to designate the new State Youth Director in conjunction with the October Supreme Lodge meeting. In the meantime, I'm going to do my best to see that the Youth Program doesn't miss a beat as we commence the new youth year.
Grandparent's Day is September 12 Grandparent's Day was the brainchild of Marian McQuade of Fayette County, West Virginia, who hoped that such an observance might persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage of their grandparents. The first presidential proclamation was issued in 1978, with one issued each year since, designating the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparent's Day. This year, Grandparent's Day is on September 12. All youth club members are encouraged to honor their grandparents and the grandparents in their lodges during the month of September.
Dear SPJST Sales Representatives, Fall sales representative classes began on Monday, August 23. New products will be introduced at these classes, and you will need to attend class to have the information to sell. Licensed sales reps will receive continuing education credit. Refreshments will be served. For directions to class locations, call your state field representative, listed on page two of the Vestnik. Whether you need CE credit or not, you are encouraged to attend at least one of these scheduled classes. Please bring your SPJST rate book with you for updates. All classes are listed by day and date.

Join Hands 2004 once again be sponsoring several youth golf contests on Saturday, October 9 in conjunction with the SPJST State Golf Tournament at Sammons Park Golf Course, located at 2727 West Adams in Temple. The contests will begin at 10 a.m. Contests will include putting, pitching and driving. There is no charge for the contests. Contests are open to all youth ages five to 16. To enter one or all of the contests, complete the official entry form and return by October 7. Awards will be presented in both girls and boys divisions in four age categories. SPJST membership is not required to participate in the youth golf contests. SPJST Scholarships and Leadership Grants Encourage all high school seniors in your lodge to apply for the SPJST General Scholarships and SPJST Leadership Grants. In the September Youth Leader Packets, you will find two sheets of paper to write the names of all high school seniors who are members of your lodge's youth club. Please fill out the sheet(s) and return to the Fraternal Department in the postage-paid envelope that is provided. When we receive your list, a General Scholarship Application and a Leadership Grant Application will be forwarded to each individual you have listed. Active youth club members are strongly encouraged to apply for both scholarships. College undergraduates who have not received an SPJST Scholarship are also encouraged to apply. Your Ideas on Improving Our Youth Program The District Youth Counselors will meet on Saturday, November 6 at the SPJST Home Office in Temple. All aspects of the youth program will be
evaluated. For more than 50 years, the SPJST Youth Program has been an important part of our fraternal order. The purpose of the program remains twofold — to build character among our younger members and to provide them with activities that help to prepare them for leadership positions at all levels of our Society. Please take some time to review your youth club handbook and consider ways to improve our SPJST Youth Program. Think in terms of "How can we improve the program? No matter how good it was, we want to make it better." We're Here for You. It is in giving that we receive. That applies as much to our SPJST Youth Program as anything else we do in life In working to achieve the goals that we have set forth in our youth program, we may on occasion encounter obstacles. They, too, are there for a reason—like rocks in a stream. Shar McBee, in her book, "To Lead Is to Serve," helps put it into perspective: "The technique for reaching a goal is to follow the example of water. Water reaches its goal by flowing on. What does water do when it comes upon a rock? It flows over or around it. What happens when it comes to a hole? It fills it up and flows on." Having said that, please know that our Fraternal Department is here to assist you in helping your youth club to achieve its goals and make a positive difference for your young people, for your lodge and for your community. Please call if you have any questions or if we can be of assistance. Fraternally, Brian Vanicek Supreme Lodge President — SPJST-

Membership Drive in Moulton "an absolute success" Thank you so much to everyone across the district that helped make the first District Six membership drive held July 24 and 25 at the Moulton Jamboree an absolute success! We really appreciated all of the sales representatives, officers, and adult and youth members who helped during the weekend. A special thanks to Leo and JoAnn Jares who helped with the membership sales booth the entire weekend. It was "a little warm" during the weekend; but, thanks to the nice canopy covering and a lot of special commaraderie — we were able to really serve our purpose of sharing the SPJST organization and all it has to offer with visitors from across numerous counties of the state that stopped during the weekend at our booth. Also, thank you to Supreme Lodge Vice President Gene McBride and his wife, Francis for bringing the SPJST float to our District Six area for the Moulton parade on Sunday morning of the weekend. The float really gave some terrific SPJST coverage for all

Rosie Bednar's qult was being quilted by our faithful quilters, Eleanora, Sadie, Betty, Frances, Martha, Mary, Rose, Dorothy, and Libbie. Rosie made a very nice donation to the Club for the quilting. Dorothy Prachyl read a thank you note from Stella Tobola for the card and money gift she received. She returned the money as a donation to the Club. That was so very nice. A donation was made in memory of Willie Skrivanek by Adell Vlk. Vlasta Sramek and Lillie Forson made a donation in memory of Libbie Smith. Thank you all. Sunshine Eleanora Pelzel announced she mailed get well cards and money gifts to Stella Tobola, Emily Harrison, Pat Fowler, and
Wednesday, September 1, 2004-VESTNIK/17 Alene Skrivanek. She passed around for everyone to sign a get well card for Libbie Elsik and a birthday card for Anne Zvolanek. She announced our August celebrants — Dorothy Kudrna, Anne Zvolanek, Frances Vinkler, and Elizabeth Crone. "Happy Birthday" was sung to those present— Dorothy and Frances. Libbie Vrla read a note that she received from Esther and Bob Cunningham stating they would be unable to attend our meeting. They would be in Galveston for Esther's cousin, Anita's 80th birthday celebration. We were glad to see Liddie Pavelka who hasn't been feeling her best lately. Stay well, Liddie. Sidney Bridewell said she is just glad to be alive. Pat Fowler's ear surgery went well. She said the healing is ongoing. We were happy for you. We're wishing Emily Harrison a speedy recovery after her surgery. Thank you goes out to Bessie Laznovsky for donating cups and nap kins. Also thanks to Sidney Bridewell for the large sack full of plates, cups, forks, spoons, and lots and lots of napkins. I think we are pretty well stocked for now. It was announced that Bertha Podhrasky was in an auto accident which was not her fault. They had her all checked out and, thank goodness, she is okay. We are thinking of you and hope to see you in September. Dorothy Prachyl read a very funny article from the newspaper about two elderly ladies, "What's Your Name Again?" It was really funny, but then again, it is not so funny when you can't remember. I know! Pat Fowler read a poem that Sadie Kubin brought about being young and being old. It was also funny. Thank you, ladies. We need to laugh more. It's good for you. The door prize was brought by Libbie Wisniewski for Georgia Tupy and won by Liddie Pavelka. Little gifts were exchanged. I won a box of kleenex dinner napkins and a kitchen towel. Both were nice. I liked them. Squares were collected that everyone had sewn together for our next year Polka Festival quilt. If you forgot yours, please bring them in September. Thanks! We had a delicious lunch as always. Liddie Pavelka brought some brownies that were out of this world! They were so good and chewy. President Sadie reminded everyone about our September 9 meeting and asked for everyone to bring a friend. Then she adjourned the meeting.
News of Members Dorothy Prachyl's great nephew, Justin Vavra, has left for basic training to Fort Benning, Georgia. We wish him well. Pat Fowler was showing a wall hanging quilt she is making for the Telico Fire Station. I wish everyone could see it. Pat has one of those machines that can do everything, almost anyway, and it is going to be really nice. Pat also talked about the Telico Volunteer Fire Department's
annual benefit to be held September 25. It is always a big event for little Telico and includes a barbecue dinner, barn dance, games, care flight, andweather permitting— an ambulance display. Everyone is invited to come visit and support the fire department. Libbie Wisniewski was telling us about two little stray kittens that came to her house. Every morning, they woke her up singing under her window. She said they are hungry and so cute. I think she is really glad they came to her home. Our friend and new member from Fort Worth, Betty Landsfeld, has come to Ennis four times in the past two weeks. On Thursday, she and her daughter came to the Ennis Meat Market, Stanley Liska's, who has retired, and the meat market is closed. It was a sad day in Ennis. They came to stock up on meat and klobases. Then Sunday, she and another daughter and her husband came to a baby shower. Then Thursday, she came to Ennis Sewing Circle and Saturday, she attended stepgreat-nephew, Jarod Hunter's, wedding. She's been having fun. Martha Ritchey has been camping with Hubert's sister and her husband. They have that big camper and are really enjoying it. As I mentioned earlier, Lillie Kosarek was absent. Well, she and her Arlington Senior Friends went to tour and have lunch at the Gaylord Texas Resort in Grapevine. She enjoyed it. I wish I could have gone. On July 31, she and her family attended the Maruska, Kosarek reunion at the KC Hall in Ennis. Lil was so proud and happy to show off her new great-granddaughter. It was really neat looking at a map of Ennis back in the 1800s. Dorothy Kudrna has been researching where her grandfather, William Nesuda, had a saloon. She found it on North Main Street. How about that— a saloon! Sadie Kubin has been spending her mornings working and piddling in her yard until her mail comes. Then she's busy going through all the junk mail she gets. At least, she is busy doing something! Pat Fowler suggested that when we are not busy and have nothing else to do, we should start going through all our boxes of pictures— strangers in a box—and begin writing on the back the names of those in the pictures. That's a really good idea. Then they won't be strangers in a box anymore. If names are not written on the back, when we're gone, our kids and grandkids won't know who they are. My grandkids have started back to school. Calleigh is in the sixth grade and Tanner is in the second. Now, we can get back to a regular routine. I think they were ready. They did just about everything there was to do. My grandson, Kyle, who graduated from Texas A&M, started teaching eighth grade history and began coaching seventh and eighth grade football at Cedar Hill. I am so excited and proud for him. So till September 9, stay well and happy. We will quilt our Christmas quilt. So everyone, please come. Georgie Morales Reporter —SPJST-
Fort Worth
Ladies Circle Our meeting was called to order with Martha Durham presiding. We had a wonderful crowd. There were 45 members and five guests present. Our guests were Margaret Willenburg, Mathew Willenburg, Amber Moore, Willie Mae Becan, and Robin Brownlee. We will miss the visits of grandchildren when school starts. The minutes of our previous meeting and the treasurers' report were approved. Pauline Morbitzer reported a card was being sent to Vern Borde who underwent knee surgery and is recovering from pneumonia. Mary Ann Kozel reported that Estelle Hurtik, Laura Posival, and Ann Schnieder were our August hostesses. She also said that all the hostess for September will not be available. Mary Ann Kozel, Kathy Ormsbee, and Margaret Laymance volunteered to pitch-in. A sign-up sheet was passed around for members to sign to help in our pastry booth on Czech Heritage Day. If you didn't sign up and would like to help, either to bring baked goods or to help in the booth, please call me at (817) 453-3915. Martha Durham took names of the people who plan to go to Bossier City on August 18. It doesn't seem to be enough to get a bus for ourselves so we will catch the bus at Ridgmar Mall. Joyce reported on the activities going on at our lodge. The August birthday members were honored with a song and we got to get in line for lunch first. A good one it was, too! Birthday wishes went to Mary Ann Gibson, Evelyn Scaff, Albert Kubala, and Martha Boenisch. We had 12 door prizes so a lot of people received packages. Everyone was pleased with the gifts. It seems candles were very popular. The meeting adjourned. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch. Our next meeting will be September 14. We had a very sad ending to our lunch. A faithful member, Elizebeth Howard, had a fall and broke her hip. The ambulance took her to Harris Hospital. On Wednesday, she had surgery on her hip. Our prayers are with you, Liz, so your recovery is quick and complete. We love you. Fraternally yours, Evelyn Scaff Reporter —SPJST-

Youth Letters Section District One King reports on parade appearance Dear Readers, I made my first public appearance as District One King on Sunday, August 1, 2004, by participating in the annual Schulenburg Festival Parade. Representing the SPJST and District One were Queen Jessica Schumann, Duchess Sara Sump, King Kyle Skrabanek, and Duke Tyler Sandner. Many thanks to Vice President Gene McBride and his wife for bringing the float to Schulenburg and providing us with much needed water. Thanks to Melanie and David. for having the float fixed up so nice. It was neat riding the float with the patriotic music playing and the bubbles coming out of the train. Thanks also to Mr. Victorick and his family for coming and watching us in the parade and to my mom and Mica for taking us to Schulenburg. This was one of the biggest parades I have ever attended. There were a lot of floats and other entries. We were approximately number 117. There was a cool John Deere car and a woman driving a car that was totally covered in lottery scratch-off tickets. She was the "Scratch-Off Queen." A bunch of old high school reunion floats were entered, too. It was neat because they lined the entries up backwards so we could see all the entries as they passed us by. The weirdest was the "Redneck

6 Cottonwood youth readies for school Lodge
Dear Readers, I just wanted to wish everyone a great year at school. I hope everyone does well! Here is a quote from Charles A. Wells that I thought would kind of fit: "The school will teach children how to read, but the environment of the home must teach them what to read. The school can teach them how to think, but the home must teach them what to believe."

Lodge 9, Snook youth learns valuable lesson through YAD Dear Readers I just got back from camp, and once again, I had a great time. The Sunday before we left was our YAD. I had five craft projects, a group talent, and an individual talent. I only placed in one category. Oh well, there is always next year! The best part about my projects was doing them. My papa bought the wood for mine and my sister's construction projects. We built planter boxes for the nursing home in Caldwell that he visits. The nursing home has a very nice garden. The residents need boxes that they can reach in their wheel chairs so the planter boxes have to be a certain height. We built them at Mr. James' shop, and it was fun getting to work with him and Mrs. Ann. We really appreciate the help and the use of the tools. We will be taking our boxes to the nursing home this week along with the potting soil and some seeds to go in them. My handicraft was a mosaic mirror for my parents. They love it and now, several people in my family want one. So, see, it's not about winning, it can be about what you do with your projects that really matter. Even though I did not win in most of my projects, I had fun making them and knowing how I was going to make someone happy by giving my afterwards. projects to them Taylor Allen, 10 —SPJST-
Lodge 9, Snook youth learns crochet from Mrs. Ann Hello, Readers, District YAD is over, and I had a great year. I placed in almost everything, even though I only got one first place. I got to take my science project to State YAD. It was about rocks. My board was really cool and fun to put together. I learned a lot this year by doing my projects. The neatest thing I learned was to crochet. Mrs. Ann taught me. I would go to her house after school. She would teach me. I made two of my projects by crocheting. One was a pot holder and the other was a flower pot set. Mrs. Ann taught me how to make this chain with strips of material. I was really good and fast, but I did not know what to do with them when I finished. My mom and I came up with wrapping them around clay flower pots and gluing them. They turned out really cool. I received a third place on them. Thank you, Mrs. Ann, for teaching me! I also want to thank my papa and Mr. James for buying and helping me with my constructed item. I enjoyed working with both of them. One of the best parts about working on my YAD projects was working with my family on them. We enjoy the projects because the whole family gets involved. Lodge 25, Ennis youth shares behind-the-scenes story Dear Vestak Readers, It was fun performing at State YAD our Senior group talent "Suds in the Bucket". But, I have to tell you what happened behind the scenes. On the day of competition, we left early in the morning with the props on the trailer. We stopped three times to secure the props before we even got out of Ennis. We had to stop another time when we got to Italy. We kept looking back to make sure the props were okay. The white cardboard truck was getting beat up pretty bad in the wind, and the tarp was blowing around like a parachute. When we finally made it to Temple, we noticed that one very important prop was missing. Our bucket! It must've flown off the trailer! Devin's dad, Darren Krajca, came to the rescue! He went to Tractor Supply Company to buy another bucket, but it was too small, and the scrub board didn't fit. So, he returned it and got another bucket. We spent a long time repairing the white truck, but senior group talent was first on the schedule so we didn't have much time. Then, right before our performance, someone sat down on the small plastic table and broke a leg off. Our assistant youth leader scrambled to find something to use in it's place. There was a large plastic white bucket that someone had for their Junior Group talent that we borrowed and turned it upside down.

Lodge 84 Junior Youth Club Officers The Lodge 84, Dallas Junior Youth Club Officers were recently installed by Lodge 84, Dallas President Justine Yeager who issued the oath of office to the new officers. Pictured, from left, are Sergeantat-Arms Alexandria Andreason, Sunshine Committee Emily Andreason, President Ashley Andreason, Vice President David Oberle, and Reporter Elisabeth Cowan. BACK: Justine Yeager, Secretary Desiree Christman, and Treasurer Scott Cowan. We had all the props in place, but we noticed the stage was not quite big enough. We were so worried that Raychel and Jordan would fall off the stage in the truck. Finally the performance began. The microphone had a lot of feedback for the first few seconds then it went dead, and the music didn't come through the speaker real well before it all got straightened out. But we all kept performing no matter what was going on with the microphone. A disaster you say? No! It all came together, and wet -won first place! You see, you can take the start of a bad day and turn it into a great day if you keep trying! Blake Ryan, 14 —SPJST-

Lodge 30, Taiton youth enjoys YAD competition Dear Readers, YAD was sure a lot of fun this year! I really enjoyed it. Lodge 30, Taiton did well The competition was unbelievable, and the crafts are getting more awesome. My senior group talent didn't place this year but we had the best time performing the Beach Boys routine. My constructed item— a bench—didn't place, but my handicraft—the fish on tin— got second. My little brother, Ryan, got a third with his Pictorial Art and his junior group talent, Elvis' Jail House Rock got third, too. I sure am proud of them. I sure liked the way that the winners were announced and displayed on the monitor. What a great way to show the audience what placed where and who! My family had a great time and look forward to seeing you again soon. Take care, Steven Drapela — SPJST—

Lodge 84, Dallas youth member: archery awesome!
Lodge 84, Dallas youth successful at YAD
Dear Readers, I promised you more pictures of my fun time at camp so here they are. This is me during archery, my second favorite activity (as you might recall, my first favorite activity was eating snow cones!). At archery, the first couple of times, my mom or Mr. Weeks had to help me pull back the string on the bow because it Nicole Oberle was a compound bow. But the more I held the bow on my own, the stronger I got, and by the end of camp, I didn't need any help pulling the string back. And my aim started - to improve by the end of camp also. I actually hit the target a few times. I had a really wonderful time at camp and hope to go again next year. Fraternally, Nicole Oberle, 5 1/2 years — S PJST-
Dear Readers, I am excited to tell you that I had another successful District Three YAD. Here were my standings: First Place—Photography First Place—Science and Education Third Place—Individual. Talent Third Place—Merit Point Award Honorable Mention—Hobby Kits Honorable Mention— Constructed Items
Here is a picture of me with all my entries and winnings. I was really excited about my photo winning first place because it was a photo I took with my disposable camera of a medical helicopter that landed at Camp Val Verde last year. In Science and Education, "The Game of Batty Facts" which also won first place, was a game I made up for a school project. I can't wait to see how both the photo and the game place at State YAD. Czech Heritage Festival
Saturday September 11, 2004 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Downtown Around the Square Caldwell, Texas in Burleson County
^ije Roleabe fe5tibal
is a celebration of the revitalization of Czech heritage . . . a county that was basically a Czech settlement realized their precious identity was slipping away. New generations knew not the language, the music or the art of their ancestors. Not only do we grasp at the past, but we hurry to share the history . . . to bring into today's focus the beauty, talent, and delight of the Czech people. Come to the Kolache Festival and learn the wonderful Czech philosophy. See the technique of the stenciling, basket weaving, egg decorating, quilting, woodcraft, carving, sculpturing. Dance to the polka and sing the songs of the musician. Taste the true ethnic food and lend your soul to the fulfillment of the Czech cultural heritage. gp
