Attention, Lodges and Youth Clubs: Get Involved in Paws Across Texas

Lodges and youth clubs across the state are encouraged to join SPJST Lodge 91, Crosby in assisting with Paws Across Texas — a benefit to help pets and animals across Texas. SPJST lodges and youth clubs can help support animal shelters and veterinarian offices by soliciting food and money donations from the public and businesses in your community. Then, choose a shelter to benefit hungry and misfortunate animals. Hats off to Lodge 91 members for their initiative in creating this statewide project. Pictured above are, left to right, Judy Norsworthy, Malba Smesny (holding Chloe), Robert Smesny, Billy Norsworthy, Will Locke, and Vonda Smesny (holding Wrangler).

Editor’s Note

VӖSTNÍK

We will remember.

SPJST and the City of Killeen will unveil the artist’s rendering of the

design for the Fort Hood November 5th, 2009, Memorial this Friday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, located at 3601 S. WS Young Drive in Killeen. The memorial will be located in the tract between the Convention Center and Shilo Inn and Suites. In the aftermath of the tragic events of November 5, 2009, memorial services were held to pay tribute to those who had died or who had been injured. From that initial outpouring of emotion and out of the desire to honor and remember the victims of that tragic event came the concept of establishing a permanent public and living memorial. The idea for establishing the Fort Hood November 5th, 2009 Memorial was conceived by State Field Representative and Lodge 246, Morgan’s Point member Hiram Dixon of Harker Heights. Mr. Dixon served in the US Army from 1969 until 1972, during which time he completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He shared the idea of establishing a memorial with his employer, SPJST, a statewide fraternal life insurance company. In turn, SPJST made the necessary contacts to move the project forward. Working as partners with the City of Killeen, Texas, SPJST is spearheading efforts in the public and private sector to build the Fort Hood November 5th, 2009 Memorial. The site will serve to honor the victims and provide a historic record of the events of November 5, 2009 in order to deliver a message of vigilance for generations to come. On June 8, 2010 the Killeen City Council approved to proceed with the development of the memorial As approved

by the Killeen City Council, the project will include a memorial pavilion and garden on the grounds of the Killeen Civic and Conference Center. An endowment fund will also be established from the funds collected to provide for the lifetime maintenance and upkeep of the memorial and garden. Fort Hood will also hold ceremonies on November 5 recognizing more than 70 soldiers and civilians whose actions on November 5, 2009, went above and beyond the call of duty. On November 6, a series of running events called “Run to Remember” will be held. Then, beginning at 12 noon, “Rock the Hood” celebration will begin on Sadowski Field. The event will include entertainment, food, rides, and games. Entertainment includes Puddle of Mudd, Elvis Crespo, Flyleaf, Chris Cagle, and Nas. This free event is open to the public. Visit www.hoodmwr.com for more information about the events.

Lodge Officer Elections Lodges will soon be electing officers for 2011. Here’s a reminder of the changes that were made earlier this year—as a result of a delegate referendum vote—in Article 54 of the SPJST By-Laws. Article 54 now reads: Any member of the local lodge who desires to serve as a lodge officer who is an underwriter of any Old Line insurance company or an agent (underwriter) of any other fraternal life insurance society may be elected but must first disclose this information prior to the election. Effective immediately. Thanks for your attention to this item. If you have any questions, please contact any Supreme Lodge officer at (800) 727-7578.

From the President’s Department

State FAC presents November Fraternal Updates Dear Members, Due to the early date for the SPJST Awards Banquet which will take place at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center in Temple on January 29, 2011, your nomination form for Fraternalist of Susan Skrabanek the Year will be 2009 SPJST due in the office State Fraternalist of the State Fraternal Activities Coordinator on December 17, 2010. All other deadline dates remain the same. They are: January 3, 2011 New Officers List (address, phone, and email) January 14 Fraternal Incentive Report Year-End and Year-End Fraternal Support and Community Services Report February 18 Outgoing Officer Awards May 15 990 and 990-T to IRS and copy to Home Office

Officer Elections The end of another year is rapidly approaching. Many lodges have had a very productive and successful year. This is the time of year when lodges across the state will be electing the leaders for the coming year. Has your lodge moved forward? Has your lodge met all of its goals? Has your lodge completed all of its projects planned for the year in your community? Has your lodge set goals for 2011? Keeping this in mind may help you make choices on who you will elect to keep your lodge moving forward in the coming year. With the possibility of new officers coming into office, this may be the perfect time for your lodge to consider having a brainstorming session. If your lodge is interested, please contact me, and I will be happy to schedule a session with your officers. Remember, the sessions take about an hour and lodges who have been through a brainstorming session, have gone home with some valuable ideas.

It is the duty of all members to provide the leaders of their lodge with suggestions, ideas, and assistance. When asked to assist with activities throughout the year, please help your lodge officers. Fraternalism works best when every member is involved in the process. While lodges are electing new officers, this would also be an excellent time to check the back pages of the Vestnik for your meeting date and time. Many lodges are not listed. This would be an excellent time to get the information listed. If any of this information has changed, please contact Vestnik Editor/Director of Communication Melanie Zavodny (800) 7277578 and have her update your lodge information.

Outgoing Officers With the election of new officers, do not forget to honor your officers who have given their time and dedication to your lodge. Honor your outgoing leaders by giving them an outgoing officer plaque. Any officer who is not elected in 2011 and does not seek re-election in future years is eligible. The recipient must be a current SPJST member and must be active at the time of selection. The plaques should be awarded at your local lodge meetings.

100 Pennies Scholarship Fund Drive The 100 Pennies Scholarship Fund Drive will continue through March 2011. All members are encouraged to give their support as you have in the past. Through your generous donations, SPJST has been able to continue to provide scholarships to members who wish to further their education. Donations of any amount will be accepted and added to the general scholarship fund that is maintained by the Home Office. No amount is too small or too large.

Veterans Day On November 11, please remember to honor our veterans who have bravely answered the call to defend our right of freedom, aided, and comforted our friends and allies, and have turned away countless aggressors. We, as a nation, can never repay our debt of gratitude to the many men and women who died in the line of battle

or were wounded to protect the right of our freedom. Please pause on this day and at your local lodge meeting (even if it is after November 11) to recognize and thank the veterans and the many military men and women who have fought in the past and are still fighting today to protect our freedom. By doing this at your local lodge meeting, this will fulfill item number 13 of your lodge fraternal acts.

Christmas Open House Please make plans to be in Temple on Monday, December 6. This is the date of the City of Temple’s annual Christmas parade. Again, this year SPJST will participate in the parade so come out to see what marvelous creation Vestnik Editor Melanie Zavodny, husband David, and assistant Katherine come up with. They always do such an outstanding job decorating. Following the parade, SPJST will host the annual Holiday Open House at the Home Office, located at 520 North Main Street in Temple. What a great time to visit the Home Office and socialize with fellow SPJST members. Refreshments will be served and, again, there is a rumor that Santa will stop by for a visit at the Home Office. Spread the word about this fun event. Watch the Vestnik for additional details as they become available.

Texas Fraternal Bowling Tournament Start making plans now to be in New Braunfels, Texas, on Saturday, February 12 at Fiesta Lanes, located at 1202 Huisache Avenue (behind HEBWalnut Street) for the Seventh Annual Texas Fraternal Alliance (formerly Texas Fraternal Congress) Bowling Tournament to raise funds for TFA

VӖSTNÍK

scholarships. Those who participated this past year will testify that it was a fun day filled with lots of fraternalism shared by all while raising money for a worthy cause. Teams this year will consist of five members—any combination of men and women. Registration will begin a 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with bowling starting at 12 noon. A handicap of 80 percent of 200 per game will be added to the total score following the completion of the third game. All teams are encouraged to pre-register by February 4. Watch the Vestnik for more details. Fifteen students were named recipients of scholarships at the conclusion of the TFC Convention held at the Omni Southpark in Austin, Texas, on October 16. With your continued support, next year, we aim to present more and bigger scholarships. We are here to help if you need assistance. Please feel free to call me (210) 413-3053, email cejenke@wmconnect.com, or Fraternal Services Specialist Tammy Martinez (800) 727-7578 or (254) 773-1575 or email tammym@spjst.com. District FACs are also available to assist you. They are: District One FAC Kyle Skrabanek (979) 272-3440 District Two FAC Ruth Hanusch (254) 771-0193 District Three FAC George Pauling (254) 754-7633 District Four FAC Sylvia Rollwitz (325) 442-3141 District Five FAC Patricia Bruce (281) 890-4933 District Six Helen Zabransky (361) 798-3347 District Seven Glen Pruski (956) 286-6104 Fraternally submitted, Chester Jenke, FICF State Fraternal Activities Coordinator —SPJST—

Mark your calendar for our meeting and talk with our veterans about their service to our country. The Czech meal in October was a great way to celebrate Czech Heritage Month in Texas. Great food . . . great music and a great time! Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to this special occasion. Those of you who missed it, really missed out on a good time. But, the real highlight of the evening was honoring our longtime member Vlasta Svoboda on her 90th birthday! Her daughter Darlene Meyer brought Vlasta to the meeting, and we all celebrated with her favorite cake—Italian cream. God has blessed her with many wonderful years. By lunch time, we had 22 members and two guests — Joe and Julius. President Dorothy led us in prayer, the quilters went first, and we all enjoyed a delicious lunch. Thank you to all for the many dishes, the set-up, and cleanup after lunch. The quilters returned to quilting. President Dorothy called the meeting to order, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and a moment of silence was held for Irene Trojacek Neal, cousin of

Dorothy J. and Pat Fowler; for Richard Miller, husband of Clara Miller; also for Jiři Ronza from the Czech Republic related to Dorothy Prachyl, Libbie Vrla, Lil Kosarek, and Georgie Morales. Dorothy J. read the minutes of the last meeting, and Lil Kosarek gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read. Sunshine Lady Eleanora announced October birthday celebrants — Sadie Kubin, Mildred Trlica, Margaret Martinek, Bertha Podhrasky, and Georgie Morales. “Happy Birthday” was sung to Margaret, Bertha, and Georgie. A card was signed for Sadie last month and mailed. We hope that she and Mildred had a very good day. Pat Fowler announced that we will quilt the Junior Sokol Polka Festival 2011 quilt in November; December we don’t quilt as we have the Christmas party. We will quilt in January for Irene Prachyl and have lunch, but no meeting; February, we will quilt for Dorothy J; and March for Dorothy Prachyl. Members, if you have a quilt top ready, please let Pat know so that she can put your name down. The months are filling up fast. Ann Clagett read a lovely card from Betty Landsfeld thanking us for remembering her when she fell and hurt her knee. We hope all is going well. President Dorothy announced that chances were being sold for the Christmas quilt. She also mentioned and showed a couple of Christmas gift items for our shut-in members. Irene Prachyl had a wonderful show and talked about items and ideas on quilting. It was really interesting and enjoyed by all. She also had a really unusual and different quilt square. It was something none of us had ever seen. Thank you, Irene. We really en-

joyed your presentation. Members, if you have any ideas, please come forward. We would like to hear them. Our dear member Sidney Bridewell has returned from her summer Wisconsin trip. It was so good to see her. She was asked to tell us about her stay. It sounded like she had a wonderful time, but was glad to be back home. Bertha brought some extra Heritage Festival State Fair program books for anyone who didn’t get to attend. She also said everything went well that day and turned out great. Everyone worked together, and it went off like clockwork. She also reminded everyone the Czech movie night at Dallas Sokol Hall will be starting up. Everyone is invited. They have dinner before the movie. You are asked to bring a side dish. The first movie will be October 22. Sadie Kubin sent hello to everyone and said that she misses us. She enjoyed her card. President Dorothy brought a jar of candy corns for us all to guess how many pieces of candy were in the jar. Dorothy Booth was the lucky winner — 151 pieces. The door prize was brought by Lil Kosarek and won by Dorothy Vlk. Little gifts, which are always fun, were passed out by Ann and Dorothy J. President Dorothy announced the next meeting will be November 11 — Veterans Day — and our Thanksgiving meeting. She asked that we all bring pictures of our veterans for show and tell. Let’s all do that. We will quilt and have door prize, little gift exchange, and a regular dinner. She asked if everyone would help put the table and chairs back in the hall. I also thank everyone for that; and a special thank you to Julius for taking out the trash.

Other News Joyce and Joe Ehrenberger are leaving October 17 for Milan, Italy, to take a Mediterranean cruise. They will visit home Rome, Alexandria, Egypt, Cypress, Rodes, and Ephesees (Turkey), Athens, and Olympia (Greece). We will be anxious to hear all. Dorothy Valek is very proud of her granddaughter Sara Valek as she should be. Sara is receiving the CESAT (Czech Ex-Students Association of Texas) scholarship to help with her studies in the upper division of Czech language classes at the University of Texas in Austin. Sara will be graduating in December of this year with a bachelor of arts degree in environmental science and minor in Czech language and culture. Sara also sings some of the Czech Christmas carols with the Czech and Then Some Orchestra on its Christmas CD. Her family is very proud of her interest in Czech heritage. How wonderful. Congratulations, Sara! Martha Ritchey, her son Mike, and daughter-in-law Judi went to Pensacola Beach, Florida, on September 13 for a week’s vacation visiting with Judi’s friend Sandi Carlson from Gulf Power. They all enjoyed lots of good seafood. On Wednesday, they watched the Blue Angels perform their showstopping routines. They were awesome. The Blue Angels went to Virginia to do a show. Martha and her group were on the beach late Sunday evening, and they got to see the Angels returning from Virginia. How neat it was, she said. On Sunday, October 3, Martha got word that her sister Theresa’s husband Ron Struffert had passed away after a long battle with throat cancer. Martha and her daughter Sharon Santos flew to San Diego, California, for the memorial service. The service was in Escondido, California, where the family resides. While there, Martha and Sharon were taken to Torrey Pines Beach where Martha and her husband Hubert and their many friends used to go to the beach in the mid 50s. When Martha and I used to work together, Martha talked about when she and Hubert first married, he was in the Navy, and they lived in California, and all the good times they had. Remember, the good ol’ days. So till November 11, we will quilt and have door prize, little gift exchange, and lunch. Remember to bring your Veterans pictures. Stay well and happy. See you! The Road to Successful Investing By James L. Lee, III, CPA

The road to successful investing is paved differently for each investor. One investor’s road to success may be the high road while another’s may be the low road. But common to both investors is basic principles that are true to form no matter which road an investor finds James L. Lee, III themselves taking. Below is a listing of some of these basic principles that may lead an individual along the road to successful investing.

Formalize your goals. As with the achievement of any goal, commitment to the goal is half the battle. Formalize your commitment to attaining your goals by writing them down, both shortterm and long-term. Follow your progress by updating them at least annually. How else will you know if you are actually going to attain your goals?

"

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Your portfolio is for you and you alone. The design and formulation of your portfolio is based on your goals, time horizon and risk tolerance. Understand that what may work for your friend, cousin, or co-worker may not work for you because one size does not fit all.

A basket of eggs is better than just one. Diversification of your investment assets may bring the positive benefits of potentially reduced volatility to your investment portfolio basket. Mutual funds are a cost efficient way to invest while at the same time reaping the potential benefits of diversification.

Use time, not timing when investing. Trying to correctly time the ups and downs of the market is a risky, if not impossible, task. Most investors will fare far better by keeping their investment assets in the market the entire time. It is time in the market, not timing the market.

Invest early as possible. Procrastination is an investor’s worst enemy. Though there is no perfect or ideal time to start investing now may be the best time of all.

The old team player may be better than a young hotshot. Try to avoid the temptation of investing in the new “hotshot” investment that may lose its luster quickly. Seek investments with solid track records that will benefit you more over the long run.

Consider the impact of inflation and taxes. Inflation and taxes erode an investor’s purchasing power. The consideration of investments that minimize the impact of these two forces may be key in meeting your goals.

This material was prepared by Raymond James for use by James L Lee, III, CPA, Wealth Advisor of Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. Member FINRA/SIPC. —SPJST—

Invest in what you understand. If you do not understand how an investment works you will not fully understand the risks associated with that investment. Is it really worth it placing your hardearned money in this type of investment? No.

Know when to cut your losses. Many investors do not know when to get out of an investment. If your investment selection is heading south and most likely won’t return to previous form, face the music and consider getting out before your lumps get too big.

Youth Program presents November updates

Dear Members, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope that all of you who will be traveling will be safe. Thanks again to you all for a wonderful year in the SPJST Youth Program. In the past six years, I have enjoyed working with you and have gotten to know many people and families very well in the SPJST. There are many things that I will miss about being SPJST State Youth Director. I am also looking forward to my new position with SPJST ENC. The many positive possibilities that can come from a partnership between ENC and SPJST are limitless. I believe that Frank Horak will make an excellent State Youth Director. Frank steps into his new position on November 1. There was an excellent article on Frank in last week’s Vestnik. Frank has been an SPJST Home Office employee for the past three years and is currently serving as the youth leader of Lodge 80, Holland. He’s also got a strong background in communication and is an all-around great guy. I know that he’s excited about his new role and is looking forward to meeting and getting to know you. From this point on, I will be the Executive Director of SPJST Education and Nature Center (ENC) at Cooper Farm. Even though that is a separate organization — apart from SPJST — please know that I am still an SPJST member and put great value on the relationships that we have been able to build. I hope that we can stay in touch — not just during the camping season but throughout the year. I am always willing to help wherever I can. I hope you have a happy holiday season. Drop by the camp any time!

Lodge 84, Dallas Youth: Celebrating Heritage and Making a Difference

Dear Readers, October 10, 2010, was Heritage Day at the State Fair of Texas. There were several beseda circles. In my circle were Zachary McManus, Rachel McManus, Scott Cowan, Elisabeth Cowan, Joy McClellan (my mom), Katherine Durham, and Jackson Durham. We had a lot of fun dancing together. After dancing, my family and I walked through the fair. Even though we didn’t leave until almost 7 p.m., we weren’t able to see and do everything. Next year, we plan to spend two days at the State Fair. For Make a Difference Day, Lodge 84, Dallas collected coats and jackets for Captain Hope’s Kids. The same day, we swept and cleaned the stage area at the lodge. We also

15

started collecting donations for the Fort Hood November 5th, 2009 Memorial. Lodge 84 members were eager to donate. October 24 was the District Three Meeting and Fall Fun Day at Lodge 6, Cottonwood. We had a costume contest, Christmas ornament contest, a delicious fried chicken lunch, and played bingo. I won second place in the costume contest, and third place for my ornament. Thank you to Lodge 6 for letting us have such a great day at the lodge hall. Fraternally, Melinda McClellan, age 12, Secretary —SPJST—

district receives for its youth activities. Youth clubs that do not submit their quarterly and merit reports on time lose out on their incentives. This can mean losing hundreds of dollars for your youth club. Please know that we do prefer you send in your original quarterly and merit reports, but in a pinch, you may also fax your quarterly reports into the Fraternal Department at (254) 774-7447. If you have any quarterly merit reports from previous quarters, please send them in as well. They will count towards your year-end totals. 100 Pennies Scholarship Fund Drive This year’s goal is to raise $20,000. This is in addition to the allocation,

which the Supreme Lodge had made. Through your generous donations, SPJST has been able to continue to provide scholarships to members who wish to further their education. Since the inception in 1982, the Scholarship Program has presented SPJST scholars with nearly 1,840 scholarships valued at over $1 million. That is a lot of pennies! Thanks to all of the young people and youth clubs who contribute to this wonderful program. Remember that no contribution is too big or small. All young people who donate at least $2 will receive two merit points. All young people who donate at least $5 will also receive a certificate.

Veterans Day Please take time and remember our veterans at your next youth club meeting in November. Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11.

Christmas Open House December 6 The Home Office has made plans to host its annual Christmas Open House on Monday, December 6 at the Home Office, located at 520 North Main Street in Temple. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you. We are planning some great fraternal events for all members and their guests. Open House will take place immediately following the Temple Christmas Parade. What a great time to visit the

A Winning Attitude: Key to Health and Happiness

Studies show that having a good attitude and good friends can improve your physical well-being.

A positive attitude, faith and good relationships with others can make you healthier, experts agree. No one’s sure exactly how some of these factors contribute to good health, but study after study shows they do. “People who are basically optimistic feel better and live longer than those who aren’t,” says James S. Gordon, M.D., founder and director of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, D.C. A positive attitude depends on genetic influences, upbringing, health habits, social connections, emotional support and spiritual involvement. You can’t change some of these factors, but you can learn new ways of thinking and behavior to help maintain a positive mindset — and live a healthier life.

The Will to Win: Emil Zatopek

A positive attitude, faith and good relationships with others can make you healthier, experts agree. In 1952, Emil Zatopek achieved what was considered impossible. At the Helsinki Olympic Games he won the 5,000 meters, the 10,000 meters and the Marathon, setting an Olympic record in each event. Never before or since has an athlete approached his epic performance! The “Czech Locomotive,” pictured here, taught the world the modern way to train, running endless laps at top speed, and how to race, driven by an overwhelming willpower. Lodge 84, Dallas Youth Club hosts successful Princess Ball

On August 28, 2010, Lodge 84, Dallas held its annual Princess Ball fundraiser. Candidates sold raffle tickets for fun prizes, and the kitchen sold hamburgers and taco meat nachos. Scott Cowan and I are, once again, Lodge King and Lodge Queen. The lodge table decorations were different shades of purple, and the stage and arch matched, looking very festive for the occasion. Thanks to all the moms for spending so much time on the decorations. I want to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets; everyone who came out to the lodge; and everyone who danced to the Ennis Czech Boys Band. Because of your support, the fundraiser was a big success. As is tradition, afterwards, we went to IHOP for a breakfast meeting with Youth Leader Bessie Petr and the assistant youth leaders. Both men and women say, “I do most of the chores”

(StatePoint) Who does most of the chores around the house? A recent survey by Cozi.com, an online calendar for busy families, found that both men and women claim to do most of the work! • Women say they do 73 percent of

Page 18

the cooking, while men claim they do 48 percent. There must be lots of leftovers! • Apparently the laundry is getting done twice, since mom does 76 percent of it, and Dad does 47 percent. • Mom says she does 77 percent of the grocery shopping while Dad claims 52 percent. Clearly those cupboards aren’t bare. To keep your family from overstocking and over-washing, be sure to schedule chores on a family calendar. —SPJST—

Lodge 84, Dallas Youth Club Member Carries Out Eagle Scout Project

Dear Members, My sister covered all the details of our last monthly meeting so I decided to show you pictures of my Eagle Scout project which was carried out on Saturday, October 9, 2010. I am so excited to have gotten this project completed for many reasons—mainly, because it provided security for residents at the Storey Placed Residential Center. That is a home for high functioning mentally challenged adults. They were really thankful to finally have a new fence. Second, because this culminated my scouting career. I

am finally going to reach my goal of earning The Eagle! I owe a lot to all my fellow scout brothers and their fathers who came out and helped with this project. It was 90 feet of fence taken down and replaced in five hours! Who would have thought a little team work could go so far? I hope you enjoy seeing what a little hard work, fellowship among friends, and doing a good deed can accomplish if you set your mind to it. Fraternally, Scott Cowan, Vice President —SPJST—

any attention to it. Kids say kašlu na — to when they have no intention of doing their homework or whatever other duty seems a drag. When people tell you to go ahead with a plan because they don’t care one way or another, they generally say pro mě, za mě — meaning “for all I care . . .” And some might add je mi to volný — I’m free — and is like the English “whatever”. And on that carefree note, we end this edition of SoundCzech. This is Daniela Lazarová saying thanks for learning Czech with me. Na shledanou.

Itʼs Sausage To Me

Welcome to a fresh edition of Soundczech. The phrase to look for is je mi to jedno.

Je mi to jedno means it is all the same to me. Literally translated, it means “it’s all one”, presumably an abbreviation of “it’s all one and the same”. The phrase je mi to jedno can be expressed in many other, more colorful ways, such as je mi to buřt – it’s a sausage to me. Why the saying refers to a sausage and not some other object is a mystery. Although the same saying exists in a different version with the word putna – an outdated expression — used to denote the huge backpacks travelers carried in olden days. Je mi to putna means it’s an old backpack to me – most likely indicating it is worthless. Another way of saying you couldn’t care less about something is to say je mi to ukradený – this might as well be stolen; it is something I can easily part with. Or, you may hear the rather bizarre expression je mi to šumafuk. Šumafuk is not an expression you would find in the dictionary, and nobody is quite sure what it means; though, people tend to vaguely associate it with something disappearing into thin air. Another funny expression Czechs use when they couldn’t care less one way or another is to mě netankuje – meaning that doesn’t fill me up with petrol – it doesn’t do anything for me. You may also hear to mě nevzrušuje that doesn’t excite me; – or to mě nepálí – that is not an issue that burns me; it is not an issue that affects me directly. If you couldn’t be bothered about something you can say kašlu na to – I cough on that, meaning you are not going to do anything about it or devote

Proto náš pokladník Tony Pustějovský přijme jakýkoliv příspěvek v dolarech, v podobě cenných papírů a podobných hodnotných věcí. —SPJST—
